How do I look for accommodation in Birmingham, Alabama?

Thank you for clarifying your question in the comments. You would be best to be looking for shared housing with one or more roommates. I’m assuming you are single. Your budget will go further. The trick is choosing appropriate (responsible) roommates. I haven’t lived in Alabama with roommates (at a different stage of life now), but did live with roommates throughout my twenties and early thirties. With good roommates, it can be a satisfactory and helpful arrangement for all. Most rentals in the ‘ham are one or two bedroom apartments, or houses. Depending on where you are working or attending school, your choices will be in identified “good” or “bad” neighborhoods - and the rent charged in the city varies to match. Your other choice will be to look in one of the smaller cities further out - and commute in by car (another expense). There is a premium paid for a “good” neighborhood. (lookup the history of “redlining” for an understanding of what has created this in the US)Transit is abysmal here and should not be relied on as reliable transportation. I wish it was better.

How much do these utilities cost ON AVERAGE in Birmingham, Alabama?

For a three bedroom apartment:
Garbage
Water
Electric
Internet Only (Cable Not included)
Single Line Cell Phone Bill
Food

Perfect estimates are not necessary. Thank you.

How much do you think this house is really worth?

If someone who isn’t a REALTOR or Appraiser in that neighborhood gives you a value, ignore them. To truly know what a home is worth, you need someone familiar with not only the area but the homes in it and the economic conditions surrounding it.There are Automated Valuation Systems that are designed to give you a ballpark. However, they have some huge flaws and rarely are they within 10% of a true, market value. Often the seller pays some of the buyer’s closing costs (or vice versa). Each home has been maintained differently and updates can be upgrades or just simply a change. A pool may be worth $10000 in one neighborhood and a negative in the neighborhood 1/4 mile away. There are numerous other examples of why you need a real, live person who is a professional to help you with value. I’m not going to list them all here.My best advice is spend the money on an appraisal. You’ll probably save it in the short run. Next to that, work with an experienced and knowlegeable REALTOR in that specific market.Good luck.

I am looking for cheap apartments (1 bedroom+1 bath) (price not more than $500) near the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I will be moving in around Christmas. If its a sharing room, female room mate preferred. What are some suggestions?

You should connect with UAB’s Off-Campus Student Services. This is a new campus service, whose mission is to assist students living off-campus find housing and build community. They can best point you to where student-to-student adverts for roommates can be found, as well as information about local landlord and tenancy law.UAB is an urban (in-city) campus, which, over the years, has converted from a commuter campus to one that is more residential - and integrated with the city. As such, helping find students find off-campus housing is relatively new.

Will a cherry tree grow in Alabama?

Yes it will, but make sure you buy a self pollinating tree. If you don't you will need a male and a female tree. There are different kinds and you should look up on the net what kind will grow best in your area. Then find out when is the best time to plant it. When you dig the hole for the tree, have some good soil and fertilizer to mix with the dirt. Remember there are sweet and sour cherries. So make sure you get what cherry you are dreaming of and not find out after five years of caring for this tree , that it isn't the kind of cherry you wanted. It will take several years to produce.

Ordering something to be delivered without parents knowing?

Okay, this might sound like a bit of a pathetic dilemma, but here it is.
I'm really interested in tarot cards and would like to buy some. I dont know of any shops (if you know any in Birmingham, UK, Id love to know) so I think its best to order them online. My problem is, I'm living at home right now and my parents are devout christians, who believe things like tarot are sinful, of the devil, etc. Well, I'm not sure whether I believe all of that right now and I'm not going to tell them because they'll only worry, panic and try and convert me back. I'm happy to let them believe everythings okay, its just easier. Anyway. I digress. Basically, if i ordered the cards addressed to me, I'm not 100% sure i could keep them a secret because my mum would want to know what was in the parcel that came addressed to me, as i dont get that many. How can I get round this? is there any possible way? xxx

What is the smartest way to invest 75k cash into real estate to eventually own multiple income properties?

This depends on your location.  For some areas, that could buy you a single-family home, for others that is only 10% down. But there are a couple of ways you could do this: 1) Use that cash as a down payment on one house, get high income, only deal with one property 2) Buy several properties with that cash, get rent from all properties with the sum being greater than the first option, deal with several properties. But this depends on the two most important things in real estate: positive cash flow and location. Depending on where you want to invest, you can determine what kind of property will give you that positive cash flow. 75K is a good amount of cash, so you want to invest it wisely. So this is what I would do: search your area of investing on Mashvisor and look at the data for the different neighborhoods and listings that pop up. For each listing, you'll get an estimate of expenses, income, cash flow, cash on cash return, etc. Play with the mortgage calculator and see what numbers are generated after that. You can put the entire amount of cash you have or half or a fraction, and get ideas of what and where will give you the positive cash flow. I think knowing the numbers of an area is the only way to determine what's the best strategy. Remember, the most important thing is creating the positive cash flow.Hope that helps.
