Im Losing Entitlements And Being Forced To Take Holiday

Contractor of federal government, not paying employees for holidays?? Is this legal?

I work for a company that is contracted by the federal government. We are currently in the process bidding for a new contract, which ended September 30, 2007. We are currently working under an extension of the previous contract until the new one is awarded. Our employer is stating that she won't get paid until she is awarded the contract and therefore we are not getting government holidays paid, though were are forced to take them off unpaid. She states that we will receive pay for these prorated in the future. There are other contract offices other than ours and from what we have heard, they have gotten all of their holiday pay. We also are only getting prorated pay for our personal and vacation time. I don't like this, I can understand the personal/vacation time a little bit better than the holiday because that is time we are requesting to take off. No one seems to want to ask anyone who is connected to our company for fear of losing their job. We have been in contact with the Office of Inspector General, but they do not answer their phone or reply to their email. If your solution is to find another job, trust me, I am trying. We have what we call the "golden handcuff" here, meaning that our wages are decent enough and finding a job that is competitive to them is extremely difficult. We are also being told that with this new contract, it is called performance based and that if our company doesn't meet the government's expectations 100% that we won't get paid….someone please tell me how this is legal? Does anyone know who I could contact about this?

I had Social Security Disability but lost it by working. I want to leave my job and go back on SSDI and travel. Is this fraud?

A2A: There are two types of disability. The disability you are talking about, that will be a permanent lifetime disability, is covered under the American’s with Disabilities Act. This act ensures that companies treat you fairly and that you are given fair accommodations in order to work there or shop there, etc. However, in order to receive disability benefits from the government, you have to prove you are unable to work. You proved you are able to work. That means yes, you immediately became ineligible to receive disability benefits of that kind. Again, yes, you are still disabled, but no, you are not unable to work. You still are covered under the ADA, but not under SSDI or SSI.To get SSDI you have to both have a disability AND be unable to work. One or the other does not qualify you. If you accept those benefits it is fraud. If they find out you are being fraudulent, you will lose benefits, you may have to pay back all previous benefits you’ve been paid, and I believe you may even be ineligible to ever receive disability benefits again even if you were to get more sick or injured. It’s so not worth attempting the fraud.Beyond that, it’s immensely unfair to those of us who are legitimately unable to work, because everyone will see us through the lense of what they know about you. You don’t feel like working and are willing to fraud the government. Most healthy people assume that is accurate of the majority of us on disability aid, which is so far from the truth.I would do anything I could to keep working. Indeed, I did. I ruined my health even farther by clinging to my job to the point I was working 3 hours a week and spending the rest of the week mostly in bed so I could manage that 3 hours next week. Now, three years later, I’m still paying for that and still spending the majority of my time in bed. I can only manage going out of the house about once a month. Many people manage to work and travel occasionally. Or they wait to travel until they are retired. Please do the disability community (of which you are a part) a favor and work while you can and stay honest and don’t be willing to fraud the system. It is fair to call yourself disabled. It is not fair to yourself or others to use that as an excuse to not do things you are fully able to do.

I feel like losing my virginity to a complete stranger?

Im 15 years old and i havent had sex yet. I masterbate but i really want to have sex. Im not sure who, i would like to do it with someone i know and love. But the idea of having sex with a stranger thrills me. I have no commitment and no strings attached, i dont have to worry about people knowing either because we wont know eachother. Then again, i want it to be special too. Lots of boys from school have asked me to have sex with them because im very busty and have a nice body but im afraid of rumors. What should i do?

In what period does holiday allowance in the UK run?

Having worked as a software developer for an HR software company I can tell you that pretty much every company does it differently. The most common holiday year is one that matches the company's financial year. Some companies do not have a company holiday year and they set each individual employees company year to run from the anniversary of their start date. At most companies you lose your holidays if you don't take them, some allow you to roll over to the next year but usually only a limited number of days. Some companies also allow you to buy and sell days, so you can trade a days pay for a day off, usually for a limited number of days per year.

Is Uber not paying its drivers enough in Australia?

uber doesnt pay enough worldwide, not just australiauber wants cheap rates to get users to use it, uber makes a profit no matter what, they do not care about driver earnings, just look at my own personal numbers, uber has taken $40,000aus off me in 3years for a app, i dont get anything from uber, i get poor support, i have to use my own car which devalues daily, some trips it costs me more than i make, if a rider makes a mess, i lose income, i have to work unsocialable hours to survive, i do not get holiday benefits, sick leave, any form of health benefits, uber uses its drivers, we are slaves to them, yes i do not have to work for them, but i cant quit, stuck in a loan, when i started, uber was good money, they then decreased prices dramatically, forcing me to work longer hours to make the same, which also devalues my car faster, then uber decides to raise its commission rate, so now im forced to work even longer hours, to make the same, and now my car is worth less than half of what i still owe on it,We will gladly take tips, but its not really what we want, we want rates to be raised higher, and we want uber to take less commission, uber could do one or both, if they dropped their commission rate, they could keep prices the same, if they raised their prices, they would get more, so i dont understand why they do what they do,all i can see happening with this tip feature, drivers will be more inclined to take an uber trip over one of the other rideshare apps in the hopes they get a tip, and its a pr stunt to get free advertisingthat link had some misinformation, we cannot see who tips, rider has 7days to tip, drivers are forced to rate directly after the trip, and riders can tip $1 to $50 so drivers cannot rate you for not tipping as they wont know,

My crush wants to be friends with benefits but I'm a virgin?

I had a party a few weeks back where my crush a I kissed, we wanted to take things further but it was my time of the month so nothing more happened. We had text a few times afterwards and he then went on holiday where he started texting me again, we've been speaking everyday for a while now, sometimes it can be flirty.
However this morning he brought up us being friends with benefits and It's not that I don't want to have sex with him, I just feel like it could be awkward especially if it's planned. We're both of legal age but I'm a virgin so obviously I'm slightly nervous about it.
i know people will see this as a bad thing to do as you only lose your virginity once but it's not like it's with a stranger we're friends. Will it make a difference that I'm a virgin and he isn't, will it be awkward?!

No-one on their deathbed ever said "I wish I had spent more time at the office." In the UK, it is very unusual for people not to use their full holiday entitlement. Why is that not the case in the US?

When my children were at school I always ‘kept’ 10 days holiday entitlement to be carried over each year just in case they were ill. But after the first couple of years I used my full entitlement and just ‘kept’ the 10 days as spare. As I got nearer to retiremenbt I ‘used up’ all but 5 of the days and had an extra week of ‘work’ paid to me when I left. However in the UK our employers often urge us to use up our full holiday entitlement, in the knowledge that the personnel return from holidays relaxed and often eager to ‘clear’ their desks.Apparently in the USA employers do not see the value of having rested staff and seem to think that keeping their staff’s ‘noses to the grindstone’ is better (for the company?).

Ways to resist eating food cravings?

If you are being offered cakes every day,
make it a habit to eat only one apple and one big
bottle of water. Once a week, have a normal
size serving of cake.

Research has shown that food cravings can be caused
by a lack of calcium or dairy in the diet. My experience
has shown that food cravings are worsened by giving in
to them. Also, make sure each meal is a complete meal,
please google food guide pyrmid and compare your diet.
Each meal needs a source of plant fiber and two meals
should have protein.

Do not deny yourself completely, but I would avoid
making yourself entitled to sweets every day. Yes, I have
made that mistake myself.

One other piece of advice -- thin people or people with just a touch
of baby fat can teach themselves to become overweight with unneeded
restriction. You do not want to make food such forbidden fruit that you
pine for it. If you are a young girl and want to take an inch of your
waste, please put a strong focus on exercise. Also, you are doing this
for appearance only reasons, I understand. You will like the results of
buffing up better than just losing a little fat. It is the increase in muscle that
changes the shape of your body.
