Any ideas on how to make it great?

Cheap places to get the nescecary items?

Am I too old for this party?

Graduation party for a fifth grader ? are you kidding me? please answer?

okay so my nephew is graduating from elementary school and his parents (my brother & his wife) are having him a graduation party. call me crazy but isn't this a bit too much? i mean the kid is graduating from elementary school for gods sake! what accomplishment is that? you are EXPECTED to finish elementary school! now i can see how people have parties for high school and college graduates, now THAT'S an accomplishment! and i heard something about them asking for people to give money instead of gifts! are you kidding? to me this just seems like an excuse to squeeze money & gifts out of guests. i can see maybe taking him to an amusement park, or bowling w/ friends, or buying him something he wants, but a party where you ask people for money i think is a little over-board. what do you guys think? be honest... no hard feelings! thanks!

Can anyone give me ideas for classroom games? Combined grades 1-6 class?

Two that I have used with a variety of ages:
Silent Ball - students stand on chairs. They are absolutely silent. They throw the ball to each other. If someone drops it, they are out and sit down. If it is a bad throw, the thrower is out, not the catcher. If anyone talks or makes an intentional noise, they are out. Last one standing wins.
You can play it without the chairs, but they are fun!

Tomato sauce -
One student stands up the front with his back to the class. The teacher points to another student who says "Tomato Sauce" in a funny voice. The person up the front guesses. If he guesses right, then someone else says "tomato sauce" in a funny voice. If they don't guess, the original "tomato saucer" says it again. After the 3rd time, the guesser can look at the class before the guess. If they are stumpted, the person who said tomato sauce becomes the new guesser.

Also - fish and chips
One person up the front - other students take it in turn to ask him a question. The person up the front has to answer "Fish and chips" to every question without smiling or laughing. If they smile, laugh, or say something other than fish and chip

I need to throw a serial killer themed party for children?

My co-worker has a son who is turning seven soon and asked me to help plan the party. His mother died when he was a baby and he's never had a birthday party. He also has mild autism and fixates on certain subjects. His latest obsession happens to be serial killers - he reads books about them all the time and talks about them constantly. He says he wants his party them to be serial killers and his favorite is Richard Ramirez. How can I incorporate this theme without upsetting the other parents? I'm thinking about maybe a spin on "murder mystery" parties where the mystery can be based on real killers.

I also inquired about this in entertaining but wasn't getting very good answers; they just keep telling me this child needs therapy which is very offensive because of course, he is getting treatment for his autistic disorder and no one thinks his serial killer interest is a problem. I hope that parents might be more understanding?
