Im Tired Of My Dads Dog What Do I Do

Why does MY dog like my dad more than me?

When I graduated high school my parents got me a black lab puppy because I really wanted one after raising a black lab seeing eye dog for my senior project. At first he really liked being with me. Then after awhile he started to stop because when he wanted to go out I would wait until I felt ready to take him out. When I would take him out it would be on a leash so he wouldn't run off. My dad would take him out whenever he needed to go out and would give him a treat as incentive to come in instead of the leash. Also I used to let my do dog sleep in my bed with me but when he had to go out he would bark and scratch at the wall and door knob. I wouldn't take him out because I was too tired so my dad ended up doing it. My dog eventually scratched a hole in my wall and my dad took away my doorknob so my door just swung open and shut. My dad then started letting my dog sleep in his room next to his bed. I let him do this because when I would keep him in my room would chain him to my bed so he wouldn't go roaming through the house getting into stuff while I slept and he would just end up barking and whining when he had to go out. My dad also takes him for rides in his truck since I don't have a driver's license and even if I did I wouldn't want him to scratch up my car. The same thing happened with the Boston Terrier my parents got me when I was in school. How do I get my dog to like me again while still being lazy and not taking him out?

My dad's sick and I'm unsure what to do, any suggestions?

To start off, I'm 15. I'm in AP and honors classes, so I have about three hours of homework a day, plus semester projects that were just assigned today due in a week. The bus to my school doesn't stop by here so my dad used to drive me to school. Now I have a friend pick me up and drop me off. The drive to school takes about 10 minutes each way, so I sometimes walk.

My dad's sick, and we're not sure with what. He's been to a couple of doctors and the hospital from what I've been told, which isn't much. He's been sick for about two weeks... His stomach's been upset, he's had the chills, and a headache. He hasn't left his room for about three days.

I've been walking to the store to pick up medicine and a friend or my older sister will bring groceries, but besides that no one else is around. I've had to come home early from school, and miss important classes to take care of the dogs and him. With midterms coming up and the study groups I'm in picking up a new person, what should I try to do? I understand family comes first, but my grades are very important both me and him. I want to study for my exams, which I need to do well on as they're 20% of my grade, but my dad's more important to me. Every time I ask if he needs anything, no matter how long between my asking, the time, or anything else I can think of, he just tells me to be quiet and leave him be. I haven't turned on a TV or music without headphones since he started feeling ill, all I've done is study, write my semester papers, read a book, or listen to my iPod, and all the way across the house as well.

I'm sure I have left out plenty of important information, its pretty late here and I'm short on time to proofread and probably rewrite this, so I apologize for the length and disorganization of the question. If you think of anything that would be handy to know besides the questions I've asked, I'd really appreciate you say it.

My dog keeps on biting me. Does he hate me?

A 10 week old puppy plays by biting. It explores by biting. It will bite and chew everything. This is called "mouthing." They don't have hands, so they bite everything except, perhaps, big impressive adults. There is a difference between a bite that is accompanied by a snarl, scrunched up face, and glare, and the biting of a puppy who likes a friend and wants to play. Puppies at 10 weeks rarely truly attack others. People they hate or fear are avoided, not followed and watched.Almost certainly this pup not only doesn't hate you, but is lonely and desperate to have you as it's best friend. Your description suggests that you are the one thing that puppy likes the most, the brightest ray in its life. This is a burden, but also an honor... Think about it, someone in this often hard life likely thinks you are totally awesome. They just don't know anything other than clinging and dog-style play, which means biting.Puppies do not understand that the biting they do with each other during play hurts humans. They have to be guided and taught how to play gently with others, especially young humans. This process is called "socialization" and is very important at this age. Your actions at this point in your dogs growth may set the tone and nature of their entire life, and spell the difference between a happy dog in a stable home and a dog which is considered "aggressive" which faces endless cycles of adoption and conflicts. You, a person whom your dog clearly looks to, have the power to make that dog's life turn out great. By returning their love, with attention and education, you can give another living being a gift which will forever be to your credit. That's pretty cool. Here's an article by the ASPCA on puppy mouthing and how to manage excessive play biting... http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/vi...

Do cats get emotionally attached to their owners like dogs?

“Like dogs”? No. They get attached to their owners like cats. They’re fundamentally different creatures. But that doesn’t mean they’re not attached. Cats are socially connected to their environment. It’s why most of them do not enjoy going for long walks on a leash, being transported in the car. It’s why, when you change something in your house substantially, they freak the fuck out. They’re evolutionary adapted to be skittish because they’re typically alone in nature (well, their great-great-great-[bazillion greats]-grandcats were). They also haven’t been selected as specifically as dogs have for traits. Dogs have been selectively bred for thousands of years for a specific type of job: guarding, shepherding, ratting, protecting children, guarding Buddhist temples, confirming to the whole world that France really is gay. Cats, only recently, have undergone significant selective breeding and that’s mostly for shows —which I find appalling. But whatever. Cats had one job on the farm: stop trolls from cutting through the wall and killing children. Wait. I messed that up. Their job is to kill rodents that eat the grain. They retain that wildness because that wildness has been of service to humans. But they are mammals and they are exceptionally intelligent, potentially affectionate creatures (and manipulative little fuckers to boot). Cats have varied personalities. They do become attached to people. Rick and I travel a lot, when we get home, our dominant female —Leela— goes nuts (mostly for Rick, but whatever; she’s his cat). They are attached. Just don’t fuck with their environment.River is a murder-beast.Leela has potential, but she mostly just likes people. We endured River’s throw-back, 80’s bangle phase.Milo is just a lazy shit who wants to lounge around all day soaking up the sun on the Catio.River thinks she can kill brown bears.Leela isn’t having any of her shit.Though sometimes she tolerates her, as long as it’s on a pile of freshly laundered, warm towels.Milo gnaws on his kitty.River doesn’t mind lounging around on the Kitty Savannah. They all rather like climbing the kitty shelves on the walls.

I'm sick of my dad please help?

Uhm.. Hello there... are you me?? Like LEGIT! I am 16 and my father is a HORRIBLE father to me as well. He ignores me a LOT and says he is not talking to me when I ask if he is talking to me.. Well basically, when my parents divorced, my dad only bad mouthed my mom. I look like her and our names are similar so he acts as if I am my mother. I have been with my boyfriend for 2 1/2 years and he is wonderful. He is 19 though and lives 2 hours away. My father hates him because my dad can not control me anymore. I do not do drugs or ANYTHING bad like that and I am the perfect child but my dad treats me like **** and my twin sister like gold. My dad lets my sister see her girl friend but refuses to let me see my boyfriend who is super smart and is against drugs and everything. All of my friends parents LOVE my boyfriend when they have met him but my dad does not want to know him. My father makes fun of me when I cry and tells me NOT to check off depression and anxiety on forms. He tries to make me seem "normal". I wanted to run away but If i do, my boyfriend would be arrested.

You're SO damn lucky your bf's parents would take you in. When you are 16, in some states it is legal to move in with other people with parental consent. Your dad may let you if your bf's parents ask. You see, my boyfriend's parents are Jehovah's Witnesses and I am not, so they are very strict about women around there three boys. My boyfriend moved in with his friend and i'm sure his friend would let me live there. The problem is that his friend is 22 and he lives with his 21 year old bro and his 19 year old bro. His mom would not mind me living there, but I don't know how to transfer.

DONT call the cops and do NOT call Dyfs. It will not help you! Trust me, I know! It will only piss your dad off even more as he tries proving them wrong. My dad acts like the PERFECT parent when others are around. I suggest that you talk to your schools guidance office and your bf's parents. THEN go to the police WITH your school and his parents. It will make it easier.

GOOD LUCK!
