What is the best business to start in rural areas?

Best business to start in rural areas would depend on following factors:Your own budget and risk appetite.Where is the location, how is the climate like? What kind of attitude local people have about you setting up business, believe it or not you might find lot of resistance from locals if somehow you or your business rubbed them the wrong way.Local resources specially water and electricity and manpower availability.I have edited the answer after a short stint at a village in Uttarakhand.Based on above factors, you have following choicesSetup green house farming for crops that have better ROI. Organic farming provides better return if you find the right marketing society/co-operatives for it.Poultry / Fish / Goat rearing. The returns are better in processes products than raw.Milk and milk products from dairy farming. The old, traditional methods for rearing cattle combined with modern technologies for processing milk products are giving better returns.Herbal crops like Basil (tulsi) , Aloe Vera etc. These can be grown easily and have good market. Under organic brands / marketing they have a very good future.Government at central and state level have lot of schemes running for employment of local youth, approach local authorities to gain access to them. This will help in resolving conflicts with locals as well, as govt aided projects are well protected by govt agencies. There are many other options as suggested by other people, however most important factor would be your personality and what kind of work you can do for long without getting bored. If you like the answer, I will be happy to detail it further.

How is government helping farmers?

Every Government has ample sympathy for farming community. But politics as addiction, imposing own ideology for betterment of country in their opinions come in way to keep aside the problems . Although history has amply proved that no government regime is for ever. However, so far steps taken to help farmers are:Financial aid to for advanced irrigation facilities, farm ponds, polyhouse crop cultivation, poultry, dairy development. Space in MIDCs for agroproduce processing industries.Availability of seed, fertilizers, pesticides, implements, water sourcs by dams, wells, turbines etc.Intermittent increase in MSPs. Insurance protection , crop insurances, compensations on losses by natural calamities . Some countries legally enacted “Law of agriculture Adjustments”,while some keep 30 to40 % of country budget for farming .Online availability of 7/12 and loan waive scheme etc.Scholarship to their children.Generic medicine stores.Ample land value for land acquisition. However, most of average farmers not able to avail of the benefits due to digital application process. Even it come in the way of scholarships. Less digital applications due to illiteracy, lack of knowledge sometimes are supposed to be fake scholarships, loans . Service centres r there . But requirement of many proofs, upgrading mistakes in documents, standing hours and hours in lines after limited no. registrants from morning , remistaks by centre operator and again their corrections consume lot of time and energy resulting in feelings annoyance long period with disappointments. Indulging service centres operators in advice of their convenience. People's satisfaction gestation period depends on what level humanity is sitting in chair as customers r advised accordingly.Schemes and efforts for betterment r excellent in formulatios. But many implementation personels mask it's goodness with nuisance .

How does access to energy affect economic development in developing nations?

Commerce seems to be an interesting effect of presence of some form of mainstream energy in extremely poor ecosystems. When I say extremely I mean, household livingon one dollar or less per day.In some of this areas, I benchmark and mapped out, impact of solar on economic development and empowerment in rural kenya. It was interesting that in places where government or development parnwrs set up solar power security lights or network boosting masts, sorrounding were mushrooming small business that would operate late into the night. From this small study of behaviour, I deduce the following direct effects of access to energy within communities that lack,1.Improves security:previously in rural Africa darknes has for the longest time been associated with crime and theft. People want to wind up their daily activities before darknes falls, but with lighting more confidence is exhumed.2. Improved access to information. Information is leverage. A no brainer. With sustainable & reliable energy comes mobile phones, internet, Tv & Radio, which fuel access to information that is a frontier of economic development3.Thriving commerce and industry, refer to illustration within explanation. The list obviously is long with empowered sectors like education, Health, manufacturing, smart mobility, decent workplaces, Agriculture, property debt et al all which have direct impact to economic development.

What challenges in the Indian education system could be solved using technology?

Indian education system is more based on rote learning than creative learning. Most students learn programming when they come to college. Many students even don’t even hear about programming before college. It was something I was shocked to see. In this modern world where everything is digital, programming is a core component of it.Actually it is the building block of the digital world. Programming is required in almost everything we do. So it is better if programming becomes a core component of schools so that student can learn them from a early age. Also, exams are something which should be reduced in amount in which it is conducted now. Mind that I am not saying that exams are something that should be completely banned. It is also important as in India with such a huge population such exams is a necessity. But a little of practical work experience should be introduced in the education system. For example- they could give assignments based on some real world problems to which students are asked to find solutions on their own. In this way, students will use their creativity to find solutions rather then mugging up things from book. Students will be compelled to explore the outside world and do survey and understand the problem our locality may be suffering and accordingly they will find the solution. The students can be graded on the basis of efficiency of the solution and various other parameters. Think of it as a small hackathon. In this way, students will be able to apply what they learn and in many way it will help the society. In a country of such a huge population, it is evident that many innovative and breakthrough ideas will emerge. It might also help to encourage the startup culture of our country and we might be able to see soon very young entrepreneurs.Hope that day come soon.Feel free to comment and give your ideas.:)
