In A Dilemma About What Job To Choose

Career choice dilemma! HELP!?

Hmmm...idk, follow what your heart desires. I personally will be going into computer science to become a programmer. I love computers, I'm good with them, love technology, love programming. The pay is supposedly very good starting out and it's got good benefits. However, my true love is aviation and flight. I will begin working towards my private pilot's license this fall, and will hopefully earn it and other licenses and certifications throughout my life. It will be A LOT of money, but my dreams can't be held down by anything. SO what I'm saying is, do what you want to do, the most productive and awesome job you possibly have. Something you will LOVE to do all day, every day you work. For me, being an airline/commercial pilot will bring this. Whether I'll have to wake up at 4am, leave my family behind for days on end, and fly through bad weather, I'll do it and I'll love it.

Who can help with my job dilemma?

Im 17... so keep that in mind... dont think its important though :P

So I got a call today telling me that I have an interview on thursday at silvercity (movie theatre).
My cousin works at playdium (arcade), and she is really tight with the manager who does the hiring etc. She is going to give my resume to her manager based on if I get the theatre job.

What should I do, apparently silvercity has late hours. And Playdium is more strict on conduct (being late for shifts etc) but has shorter hours. I need help deciding who I should accept a job offer from. None of the jobs are guaranteed but playdium seems more guaranteed because of my cousins relationship with the manager.

Also which job is better/ what do you think WOULD be better.

I am in a dilemma. How can I choose my career?

People with a “job” mindset, work to make both ends meet. They don’t enjoy what they do and find little meaning in what they are doing. For people with a “career” outlook, job satisfaction is the uppermost priority. They can go the extra mile to make things happen and usually get immersed in their work. They enjoy putting in more efforts in their work, they obviously gain more satisfaction and monetary rewards follow. The question now is “I have a job, how do I make it a career?”Firstly analyze if you are in the right domain. Are you a people person, a number person, an analytical person, a creative person or an outdoor action person? If you find your current job not aligned to your inherent capabilities, it isnot too late. In fact it is neverlate. As you already know most organizations providefor internal job rotation. With HR moving to become a more strategic function than a support function, today movement into your area of interest in your organization is not impossible. You might have a subjective and biased view of what you enjoy doing or you mightnot have a clue at all. The most important conversation you will ever have is the onewith your own self. This positive or negative self-talk reflects your underlying assumptions about people the market and your own capabilities. If you need topursuea career of your choice, you have three choices: stop, start and do something differently. Your awareness of your unknown weaknesses, blind-spots and limitationsare keys to eliminating possible threats to your success. But it is your firm belief in your strengths and your ability to work on your capabilities that will change the game in your favour.

I am on a career dilemma and need advice on what to choose, could you please help?

Opportunism works for you until you painfully bump into its boundaries. You accepted an offer. You have a moral duty to yourself and the company to make that work. You can explain leaving after a year as a good stepping stone. You can't back trade on this one.The acelarator has bankability and is a bragable gig.  Three nice guys in a garage (or twenty in a crappy office) aren't necessarily that.I see a lot of me-me-me arguments in your comments, not a lot of clear thinking.Sit it out. Commit truthfully and see what it brings you for a yea or so. Then explore opportunities.

What does Dilemma Dilemma means?

Dilemma between 2 jobs- tutor and waitress! Help?!?

Okay so I hold two jobs at the moment and am a 19 year old university student.

Thing is.. it's the end of the year and I'll be entering my final year at uni at the start of 2009 so I have 2 months or so to choose one of the 2 jobs i'm currently holding.

1st job-
Tutor. I earn about $35 per hour and it's pretty easy. I sit there and get thrown questions at. Easy money right? Thing is, the tution centre I tutor at is ages away from where I live.. and takes me about 45 mins to travel there by train and bus.
With this job, I work only 2 and a half hours a week (not taking into consideration transport time!)

2nd job.
Waitress. I earn about $12 per hour with this job which is peanuts but I love the environment I work in. It's never mundane at work because the people I work with are lovely most of the time and I do enjoy working there. Plus, the restaurant I work at is only a 5 min walk away from my house which means it's really convenient.
Only thing is, it's not an easy job as we all know. Aside from having to meet customers' demands (sometimes hefty) and facing some stressful s**t when it's super busy, I also have to sweep and mop the floors and stack chairs and stuff when the night is over.
With this job, I work about 4 hours per week.

I'm in a dilemma right now- which job would u let go off? My main focus is def. on my studies and while the tutoring job gets me thrice as much money as the waitressing job.. I prefer the environment and experience I get with the latter. Sigh.

Help me decide?

Choose Your Rate, Choose Your Fate? Navy Jobs?

My husband got pushed into signing for HM and we've been DEP for a few months now. He speaks Russian and wants an Intelligence job, but he's not a citizen. He can apply for his citizenship next month, is it worth waiting? Can we tell them we want to push back his ship date so that he can get his citizenship first and then change his rate? Or, are we in too far? Also, if he just leaves when he's supposed to, how long does he have to stay HM before he can change, and is it very hard to change? My friend was in the Navy when she was younger, and she said it was easy for her to change. That's why I figured it didn't matter, but now he's telling me that he's read differently. MAIN QUESTION: Is is possible to change your rate in DEP, and how likely is it?

Have you personally faced dilemma between choosing passion and career and what did you opt?

It depends on one's financial status. If you are filthy rich you can easily get into your passion. You shouldn't think then the other way.If you are poor and carrying huge burdens on your shoulders it is advisable to take passion next to career. But don't throw away your passion completely. Do it whenever you can or possible for you. Try to balance both. It might take time but never lose hope. Keep working hard. And if your financial condition is somewhere in between the above two scenarios then first take up your career seriously, work hard and save more. Once you save enough money to meet your daily basic needs(house rent, clothing, groceries etc) with no need of earning anymore for major necessities, sit and work on your passion. You will then left with ample amount of time to get your passion on a roll. This could be the best possible idea to turn your passion into career. Hope it helps!

I'm in a dilemma about my career. Can you please read the description and give me suggestions?

One good suggestion, I can give is: Don’t ever compromise on your dreams.Secondly, is your dream studying Design or getting into NID ?If you have to choice either one of them, what will you choose ? Either the cup or the tea ?If studying Mechanical Design is your dream, then there are many other institutes in our country which have Diploma or Masters programmes in Design. What’s wrong in doing M.Tech. in Mechanical Design ? It is the same thing. Same syllabus, same topics, same applications. If you’re into CAD modelling, you don’t have to join M.Tech. Let me tell you, Very little part of Mechanical Design is CAD modelling. CAD is completely different thing.Take a look at this answer to get an overview on it. Then, try asking this question to yourself.
