If I get caught cheating on a technical interview, will I be blacklisted from that company forever? A few friends have told me they got through their first round interviews by Googling the question.
At a previous job I did a phone screen of a candidate who answered my questions appropriately. I sent him a coding assignment to see his level of skill in PHP (our programming language at the company at the time), and he sent it back in a few days and it looked great. I called him to arrange on-site interviews, and when he arrived, I told him that we'd be working on his code submission to add a few features or to fix a few bugs. (I like to assess whether someone cares to maintain buggy code or only work on new code) He got a scared look on his face and he fumbled around quite a lot trying to track down where some bugs were.After watching him struggle for several minutes, I asked him if he was the person who wrote the code. He admitted to me that he had a friend write the code. We tried to make progress in adding those features and fixing those bugs, but it was clear that his programming skills and debugging skills were very weak and he was therefore not suitable as a candidate. But first and foremost, he lied to us by submitting code that was not his, and we blacklisted him from ever applying at our company again.If you cheat, it proves that you're a dishonest person, and very few companies will want to risk hiring such a person. Not much except there are certain standards that MUST be held!I worked at a high-end 1 Michelin starred restaurant for 3 years and have had to keep myself clean at all times. Here were some of the rules:I could not let the customers see me use the bathroom; but if I had to go, I had to do it fast.Uniform must be kept clean at all times.Must shave and have hair short or tied if long.I could not carry a conversation for too long when they are dining, so they may finish their meal according to a schedule.Must know ingredients very well; down to where some ingredients are from.No slang.Must always consult chefs to uphold a customer’s request.It was quite stressful dealing with the enormous pressure put on by the chefs and the owners to make sure the dinner services go swimmingly night-in and night-out!Also, having lived in New York, I met a lot of celebrities and have gotten to become their friends! Two jobs schedule conflict?
I just graduate college and start working my current part time job a week ago. I work on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday. I recently applied for another part time job as my current job does not give me enough hour. Today, I got accepted into another job but they want me to work Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. (I have to commit to these three days, otherwise they can't hire me). Now, the conflict is only Tuesday, otherwise it works perfectly. I really wish to take this new job in addition to my current job so I can earn twice as much as my current income. Is it okay to ask my supervisor of my current job to see if it is possible to switch my Tuesday to Thursday? Or, does the supervisor usually get mad if he finds out you are also working somewhere else? Any advice will appreciate. Thank you so much!

Can I work as a freelancer while working in TCS?
Writing in as anonymous, because, TCS has yet to pay my PF :) I worked with TCS for about 6 months before realizing that I wasn't cut out for it. I had been blogging for quite a few years and I knew it was time for me to try and see if I could make good money out of it. I never told my colleagues about it until it was finally time to quit. In fact, I hardly told 2-3 people that I was actually going to become full-time freelance writer because working part time was paying me way more than TCS salary. I would suggest doing it extremely discretely and not bring this up with any employee unless they can be trusted. I never liked the work culture there and you never know who would turn on you.
