In Divergent What Personality Traits Does Four Have

What are the differences and similarities between Tris (Divergent) and Katniss (The Hunger Games)?

I have read both the trilogy and both of them belong to Dystopian Fantasy genre with strong female lead. On the outside with a quick look at both the characters, they seem to be pretty similar which they are in many aspects. But slightly detailed analysis reveal few stark differences. On the whole I can say that Tris can be considered as a more forward version of Katniss. Most of us have already met Katniss on screen and we know that she is a strong girl with a lot of resourcefulness. This is owing to the fact that the society from which she came was rather oppressed and hence ruggedness becomes a part of life. However Katniss is still a teenager and has her own boyfriend issues. Also if you watch her character closely and those of you have read the books will agree that Katniss is a reluctant hero. She is a symbol of a the revolution, she is the Mocking Bird no doubt, but none of those roles she donned by herself. The only movement of true independence and defiance I saw was when she defies the rule at the end of Hunger Games by threatening to eat the berries. Other then that everywhere she is a pawn of one central authority to another (I wont be making any spoilers here!), never confident of her true worth.Coming to Tris, she comes from a well to do family with a society that she seems perfect (at least from the outside). She didn't face hardship in life as Katniss did but yet comes out a shade stronger than Katniss. She chooses the life of hardship on her own free will and is seen to make decision on her own. People try to control her, but in every instant of the series she emerges out as an independent figure. Where Katniss is more like a symbol of Revolution, Tris is revolution in herself. And unlike Katniss she doesn't face boyfriend issues and is confident of herself. At the end both of the series has rather dark ending. But in one place where you will feel sorry for Katniss for all the difficulties she faced, on the other you will be proud of a person Tris is for all the difficulties she chose to face!Note: I am not trying to undermine the character of Katniss which I am sure is favorite of many (including me). Its just that Tris is a much more stronger female lead than Katniss...

Tris and Four have some similar characteristics. They are both proud, strong people who left Abnegation in favour of Dauntless. Physically they are dissimilar as Four is tall with a muscled build, where as Tris is tiny in stature. They are clever and drawn to each other for various reasons. Tris is somewhat more perceptive (a key word) than Four which makes her a valuable, dangerous person to society.
They are also both dangerous because eventually, they defy the system that has so carefully moulded them into place.

How to spot a girl with borderline personality disorder?

Women are emotional creatures. As opposed to men who are logical (or so it's said). Yes, some have personality disorders, and even more create them to have an excuse for their behavior. But men are the same way. All in all, you just need to find a girl thats right for you.

And...so what if they have a personality disorder? If they're not able to manage it with meds or therapy then why even be around them. People in general who are out of control are no fun.

Why is it dangerous to be 'Divergent' in the Divergent books?

Its dangerous to be Divergent because  divergence is considered such a huge threat to society for the simple fact that by being divergent, a person's actions aren't limited to making one decision. They are stronger than most emotionally, physically and mentally so they can carry themselves in lethal situations. Because society revolves around different behaviors within each faction, this kind of behavior can and will affect the people around the divergent if it's made to be a threat. Since it's been made a danger to society by the government, the divergent are able to fit into any of the factions because they're versatile, which ruins the idea of the system. Basically if your Divergent you cannot be controlled which makes you a threat.

In a similar way to the Divergent books and films, what would happen if the world was separated into the factions based on people's aptitudes and values?

Dauntless (the brave),Amity (the kind), Erudite (the intelligent), Abnegation (the selfless), and Candor (the honest).Dauntless and Erudite would rule. Dauntless would rule thru blunt force and Erudite thru influence and intelligence. As such, there would be a great desire to join each group if you have no inclination to be in Amity, Abnegation or Candor. Imagine the power of the two groups here. Dauntless would bully the other three and Erudite would find a way to hold sway over Dauntless. We’d basically revert to medieval times or you could say, past centuries and generations around the world where the strongest people survived and made the rules for everyone else. So the Kings and Queens of Dauntless with their Erudite cohorts would call the shots. Now in the movies, there was also a 6th group of Others. They’d be fodder but would find something that united them and make them a threat to the Dauntless-Erudite Rule.
