In Islam Is It Farl That All Men Keep A Beard

Is it permissible for men to trim their beard in Islam?

To all those brothers who are answering carelessly and acting as scholars of Islam please beware of the Day of Judgement. Our Rasoolullah Saws recommended momineen to be quiet when they aren't 100% sure regarding anything.May Allah guide you to the best path In'sha'Allah. My dear brother who asked the question : Shaving a beard wasn't a common practice in the days of Prophet Muhammad SAWS. According to Tabari, also recorded by Abu Zuhra in his biography of the Prophet (pbuh) “Khaatam al-Nabiyyeen”1, when Bazaam (the deputy of Kisraa in Yemen) sent two of his messengers to the Prophet (pbuh) in response to the Prophet (pbuh)’s letter to Kisraa, the Prophet (pbuh) looked at them with disgust, as they had shaved off their beards and had grown big moustaches. Thus, the Prophet (pbuh) asked these messengers what had prompted them to such appearance, to which they responded that it was according to the directives of their Lord (the king). The Prophet (pbuh) in return said that my Lord (God) has ordained growing the beard and trimming the moustaches. It should be remembered that all that is according to the nature of man is actually a commandment of God. The Qur’an has also referred to actions that are in conformity with the nature of man as actions in conformity with God’s directives. In the above-mentioned incident, the Prophet (pbuh)’s disgust toward shaving off the beard is a clear evidence of the fact that he considered growing of the beard to be in conformity with man’s physical nature, rather than a directive of the Shari`ah. Had it been a directive of the Islamic Shari`ah, the Prophet (pbuh) would not have shown disgust toward these people for showing disregard toward a directive of the Shari`ah, for they were yet not even aware of the basics of the Shari`ah.HOPE THAT ANSWERS THE BROTHERS QUESTION.FOR MY BROTHERS WHO SPEAK OF ISLAM WITHOUT KNOWING PLEASE FOR THE SAKE OF YOURSELVES DON'T GIVE OUT RULINGS ON DEEN BEFORE KNOWING DEEN. MAY ALLAH INCREASE YOUR KNOWLEDGE. But guarding your attitudes is upto you.Abdullah Bin Amr " reported that Allah's Messenger ! said:“Allah does not pull the knowledge suddenly from thebreasts of people, but takes away the knowledge bytaking the lives of the ulama (true scholars). When noulama are left, the people will appoint ignorant guides. When they are asked, they provide fatwa (Islamicverdicts) without knowledge, thereby straying and leadingothers astray.” [Recorded by al-Bukhari, Muslims, and others].”

Why are there so many beards among Muslim men? Is there something in Islamic scripture or in history that suggests that men ought to wear beards? I notice imams, ayatollahs, and kings alike all rockin serious facial hair, and I've wondered why.

In Islam,  keeping a beard is part of the sunnah (prophetic tradition). The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) kept a beard as well as his male companions. All other prophets such as Jesus and Moses (peace be upon them) also had beards. Here are two hadiths regarding the beardIbn Umar narrates that prophet (pbuh) has said: "Oppose the Mushrikeen (idolaters) and lengthen the beard and shorten the moustache." [Bukhari Vol 2 pg 875]"The Prophet said, 'There will emerge from the East some people who will recite the Qur'an but it will not exceed their throats and who will go out of (renounce) the religion (Islam) as an arrow passes through the game, and they will never come back to it unless the arrow, comes back to the middle of the bow (by itself) (i.e., impossible). The people asked, 'What will their signs be?' He said, 'Their sign will be the habit of shaving (of their beards). (Fateh Al-Bari, Page 322, Vol. 17th).' Is it Sunnah, Wajib, or Fard to grow a beard in Islam? If it displeases your mother, can you still keep it?

there are two types of Sunnah, Sunnah Mu'akkada and sunnah al huda. Sunnah Mu'akkada is something that prophet Muhammad s.a.w use to do and he asked others to do it as well. like prayed four raka before friday khutbah and keeping beard. it is very important part of islam we must do it.sunnah al huda is sunnah that Muhammad s.a.w use to do but never asked us to do it. like Smiling, fasting normal days, it is type of sunnah if we practice its good but if we don't does't matter. Now keeping beard, Muhammad s.a.w ordered us to trim the moustache closely and spare the beard" says Ibn Umar.- Muslim, Hadith no. 449Muhammad s.a.w said: "Trim closely the moustache, and let the beard flow (Grow)." - Narrated Ibn Umar (R.A.) in Muslim, Hadith no. 498Muhammad s.a.w said "I have no connection iwth one who shaves, shouts and tears his clothing eg. in grief or affication." -Abu Darda (R.A.) in Muslim, Hadith no. 501here we can clearly see prophet Muhammad s.a.w had beard and asked muslims to keep beard. so it is very important.now its a problem now a days that we think keeping beard looks different or may be we are not ready to keep it or our parents not happy with us keeping beard so many ulma said we can start with small beard on our face one few cm, at least we can think we are following important sunnah of Muhammad s.a.w n can also make our parents happy by that.may Allah show us right path jazakAllah

Why do some muslim men have an orange beard?

Muslim men aren't allowed to dye their hair unless they use henna i.e. henna is the only thing they can use to dye it.And, due to the henna application, their hair turns  somewhat orange in color. Initially, dark orange and gradually, the color lightens.

Islam: Why do some Muslim men dye their beards (especially strong, non-black colors)?

There is no law is Islam requiring men to dye their beards, but it is allowed and there are a few different reasons that men choose to do it:To follow the ways of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). To hide grey hairs. To indicate participation in the hajj (religious pilgrimage to Mecca). To differentiate themselves from Christians and Jews. Here are the details for each reason:1. It is believed by some that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) dyed his beard red. It was narrated that ‘Uthmaan ibn ‘Abdallah ibn Moohib said: I entered upon Umm Salamah and she brought out to us one of the hairs of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) which was dyed.  (Narrated by al-Bukhari, 5558.)2. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that men should dye their beard if grey hairs were appearing.Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The best things with which grey hair are changed are henna and katam”. [Sunan Abu Dawood Vol.3 Chapter 1567 Hadith No.4193]3. Some choose to dye their beard (and sometimes hair) as a ritual indicating that they have completed the hajj. Jabir bin Abdullah reported that Abu Quhaafah was led (to the audience of the Holy Prophet) on the day of the conquest of Makkah and his head and beard were white like thughamah (hyssop), whereupon Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) said: “Change it with something but avoid black”. [Sahih Muslim Vol.3 Chapter 831 Hadith No.5244] 4. During the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Christians and Jews were prohibited from dying grey hair, so the The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade Muslims from imitating them, so they dyed their beards to distinguish themselves.Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said : “The Jews and the Christians do not dye (their grey hair), so you shall do the opposite of what they do.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol.4 Hadith No.3462 & Sahih Muslim Vol.3 Chapter 831 Hadith No.5245]

Why don't Muslim and Amish men keep their moustaches when growing a beard?

I know there are religious reasons for having a beard ( just as Sikh men do) but, unlike Sikhs, Muslim and Amish men shave off the moustache bit ( à la Abraham Lincoln). Is there a reason for this?

Is it OK to have a beard in China?

Beards are fine. The reason why you don't see many Han Chinese men with beards is due to genetics. My husband (American-born-Chinese) wouldn't be able to grow a beard if he wanted to! He gets wispy hairs, nothing that represents a beard! He doesn't have any chest hair either. This is true for most Han Chinese.

Other ethnic groups in China do grow beards, the most common being the Uyghurs. Foreigners have beards and nothing is ever said about them.

Keep your beard. If you find that it becomes troublesome to you in China, then shave it off then after you form your own opinion about it. Rest assured that you won't be offensive to anyone when you get there.
