In Search Of Music. Howardshore

Any similar songs to "Concerning Hobbits" by Howard Shore?

I've heard all the Lord of the Rings' songs and I fell in love with the Concerning Hobbits / The Shire track. Does anyone know any song(s) by symphonic orchestras performing sort of light, feel good music?

Thanks!!:)

Did Howard Shore write all the music for Lord of the Rings?

Howard Shore wrote the great majority of the score; however, the credits songs and a couple of songs throughout the movies (namely “Aniron” - the sung theme for Aragorn and Arwen - and the song Pippin sings to Denethor) were written by various artists. For example, “Aniron” and “May It Be” (both from Fellowship) are by Enya, “Gollum’s Song” from Towers is by Emiliana Torrini (that may be spelled wrong), and “Into the West” from King is by Annie Lennox.I heartily agree that Shore is amazing!

Why is Howard Shore such a beautiful composer?

I know Shore's music best through his scores for the Lord of the Rings trilogy, where he heavily relied on Keltic and English folksong patterns to evoke a sense of the past. For comparison, I listened to a few themes from some of his other movies, even those which are action or horror movies, and the same sense of nostalgia and homeyness seems to pervade them. I suspect that is the thing which makes him such a favorite with many people. His tunes are very centrist, in that they generally rely on the tonic chord to a great degree and don't have a lot of surprises to them. Because of my background in classical music, where a greater variety is generally exhibited, I have never found him to be one of my favorites, but I can see how those who know popular music would find him speaking to them effectively with his style of writing and his evocation of a pensive mood. He's certainly been very successful with all those scores--he has 95 IMDB credits as a composer and I have about 30 of those movies in my collection. I can imagine his real fans know much more about him than I do.

John Williams, Howard Shore or Hans Zimmer?

Do you prefer the musical themes of John Williams, Howard Shore, or Hans Zimmer? John Williams has done scores for Star Wars, Schindler's List, Harry Potter, Jaws, etc. Howard Shore has done scores for The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Aviator, History of Violence. Hans Zimmer has done scores for The Ring, King Arthur, & Gladiator.
