Has anybody imported anything from Aliexpress.com to India safely?

Hello!1) I have personally ordered more than 50 products from aliexpress, and have received each and every one of them.2) Yes, it is safe and legal to buy from aliexpress (except some of the restricted items like chemicals, drugs etc).3) Yes you can buy products and sell in India. However there are some restrictions : *Without import/export license:- The maximum amount of order , without custom duty is Rs. 2000, I.e, you can import only upto this limit without custom duty (for personal use).- If the order amount is above RS. 2000 , the package gets retained at customs office. You will have to then prove/convince to the customs officer, that it was meant for personal use only and pay the custom duty, to get package out of there.*With import/export license: - With the license you can import goods of higher value and pay the standard custom duty (according to the Indian customs website) on the product.4) Delivery of products:- Delivery of product mainly depends upon , what courier company the package has been sent by - There is also variation/delay in delivery time , if their is delay in export and customs clearance from sellers country.1)Free China post registered mail service:- 15 to 35 days 2) EMS :- Mostly in 15 days 3) DHL, FedEx and other paid services: - mostly within week or 7 to 10 days - they do all the custom clearance work for us, and The final bill is provided at the doorstep ( which is usually higher ).Yes, as far as you go for the right seller with good seller rating ,there won't be any problems in importing goods for personal use. Hope this helps!

What is your experience with Tata Cliq website shopping?

I experienced something witty. First one is:On 14 oct, 2016 I ordered thisBut on 17th morning when I tracked its details, I found thisTracking details showing from 4 Oct, 2016(i.e. 10 days before I ordered). And its location tracking is also weird. As you can see order destination is Bangalore(Bengaluru). And this order is moving likeHaryana->Maharshtra(Bhiwadi)->Mumbai->Bengaluru(didn’t stop here)->West Bengal->Bengaluru(again didn’t stop here)->West Bengal Asansol(again)->West Bengal Kolkata.I guess my order is playing football between West-Bengal and Bengaluru and that too before I ordered :P. When I called customer care(Tollfree- 1800–208–8282) she assured me that my order is in Bengaluru hub only and today it will be delivered. About tracking Dates, she said it is from 14th only. I didn’t argue more.Second thing is:On Sunday means 16 Oct, 2016 2 days after order placed, I got this text msgMy delivery address was of my office. Normally offices will be closed on Sunday, so most of shopping websites don’t deliver in offices on Sunday. And even if delivery is attempted you expect a call at least. But they didn’t call me on Sunday and sent this message. When I said this thing to customer care, she said: “Mam, this is one of our T&Cs that on first delivery attempt we do not call customer no matter what. Tata Cliq has signed this deal with courier partners. But for second attempt you will get a call for delivery.”Like seriously!!! Calling a person for their order will cost hardly 1–2/- and if you don’t call, 99% are the chances that you cannot find the person whom to deliver. So definitely you will have to go for 2nd attempt. Going for 2nd attempt will cost you more than 1–2/- for sure. But you will choose this only. Kudos!!! Nice logic Tata Cliq!I think Courier companies have this T&C because if they will go for more attempts, they can charge extra money to TATA CLIQ.Above mentioned things you can take as cons of Tata Cliq. Some pros are:Customer care is friendly and dialing them is free. Most of the times there will be no delivery charges.Delivery duration is less.Tata itself is a brand so you can trust(most of the times). It was my first order so I chosen COD which is advisable for new shopping websites, and I am glad for COD after this incident. They said I’ll get my order today, so I am waiting… will update soon once I get that. :)Edit 1: I got my delivery and its the same product which I ordered. So thumbs up for Tata Cliq!! :)

Why don't some shopkeepers in India provide a bill of  receipt for the purchase of an item?

The reason why we should take bill is not essentially for Indirect taxes (MRP) but for the Income tax for the shop keeper.Say, you are buying a Lays Chips packet with MRP as Rs. 20 without bill. Most probably, as you mentioned in the question, indirect tax portion would have gone to Government. So that is not a big deal. The big deal is the Income tax of the shop keeper. If there is no bill, then there is no record that sale has happened. So what ever margin the shopkeeper is getting from the sale of this product is not taxed. Assume his margin is Rs. 2 and he sold 10,000 chips packets in an year, then he got Rs. 20000 as Profit from Business or profession but he need not show that and pay Income tax on it. So, essentially it is we, who are responsible for black money generation. The example gets more serious if you take the case of a doctor. A doctor normally works as a consultant in a hospital for a fixed salary. At the same time, he charges consultancy charges from the patients like Rs.500 per person. And many wont ask for bill. So the doctor only shows the fixed salary he gets from the hospital as income and not the consultancy fees. If he sees 20 patients a day for 20 days in a month, he gets unaccounted money of 2,00,000 per month and that’s where the black money is generated.Hope I clarified the point!

Why did my debit card refund take 2 weeks? My bank pointed the finger at the retailers, while the retailers claimed it was both the bank and the credit card company holding up the refunds.

There are a few different possibilities but the most likely cause of the delay falls on the merchant's side of the equation. From a purely technical perspective, a debit card refund can be processed just as fast as a debit card purchase transaction, which will be reflected in your checking account balance immediately and with transaction details in 1-3 days. Once the merchant completes processing ("settlement") of the refund transaction, everything else is automated so its not likely that your bank did anything to delay posting to your account. However, whereas the original purchase transaction ultimately resulted in a credit to the merchant's account, the refund transaction took money out. Accordingly, the merchant must: a) Have sufficient funds in his account to cover the refund, and b) Be motivated to process your refund quickly. If either is not true, the merchant may elect to delay settlement. Visa operating rules require the merchant to complete settlement within five calendar days from the date the refund is requested by you and authorized by the merchant (e.g. the date you return the product to the store and get a return receipt) and MasterCard requires settlement within one day. If you made your purchase at a major merchant, there's no good reason for a delay of two weeks but, if you're not satisfied with the service, you can complain to the merchant or the card network (i.e.. Visa, MasterCard) that placed its logo on your card but I doubt that there's much to be gained from that sort of complaint and, therefore, wouldn't recommend that you spend any more of your valuable time pursuing one.

New Army Wife relocating to Germany right out of AIT what do I do?!?

I have no clue how to get started. My husband is in AIT right now. He graduates in a week. He hasn't gotten his official orders yet but we are going to be stationed in Bamburg Germany so far his report date is July 24th. I don't know how to get our kids and myself a passport but I know I am way over due to get one. I don't know who to contact about moving our things. I don't know who to contact about housing or how the heck we are gonna get there in the first place. I have asked a few more experienced military spouses but they didn't help me much. What numbers do I call? What do I need to be doing now? What are the chances that I will have to travel separately from my husband? and what do I do to try to prevent deferred travel? I have never been out of kansas except for his BCT graduation and have never been on an airplane... I will deal with it if it has to happen but I REALLY don't want to travel alone on an airplane for the first time with my two small children I might loose my mind!!! Ok too much... Please help... I will appreciate anything

Do retailers need to pay wholesaler at first place or do they sell the products and then pay the wholesaler say after, a month?

A correct answer would depend on the supplier(s) that you are dealing with. There are a number of ways to secure inventory, and one that you have alluded to in your question is receiving consignment stock. Some suppliers may be willing to place an amount of stock with you without payment. Then payment is made for the stock after it is sold. Not may suppliers will do this without a pre existing relationship. Usually suppliers will ask for payment up front, or with appropriate credit checks (and/or trading history) they may offer payment on account (varies, but usually 15- 30 days).Drop shipping is a term usually used by online retailers. Drop Shipping is paying for an item, to be shipped directly by the supplier to the customer, after the item has been sold by you to the customer.Drop shipping can be difficult to get right, for a number of reasons:As a retailer of products held in another location by a 3rd party, you need to have very accurate information on stock availability. Many suppliers aren't great at keeping their own stock levels accurate, least of all providing that data regularly to a you (the retailer).Dealing with multiple suppliers often requires investment in technology and processes. This 'technology debt' offsets some of the benefit in not having to invest capital in holding stock. If you do happen to find a good drop shipper with inventory data files and great service, odds are others have too, so you will be competing with a number of other sellers.Drop shippers won't offer the lowest prices, as they have to pay for their own systems, picking and packing. Many will charge a drop ship fee (per item or order) on top of a shipping cost, which lowers your margin. In summary, if you are looking to grow a business by drop shipping, or buying as little stock as possible, then you will have to be efficient, good with technology and develop strong supplier relationships.Strong supplier relationships take time. Start small. Prove yourself to your suppliers. And hopefully they will work with you to help you grow your business. When dealing with new suppliers, we offer to pay cash up front for initial orders but we let them know that as we grow we will look for credit terms. We then show them we can sell their product and pay quickly. And we also also use some variations of the drop shipping model to offer a greater range of product which has helped us grow quickly.

Anyone ever heard of Dan Hollister, and know anything about the cd, blessings in disguise-your debts can set?

He claims to be a "filmmaker, designer, photographer, entrepreneur, consultant."

I didn't see that he has any expertise when it comes to finances. I would not rely on him for financial advice.

How can I get replacement or refund from Flipkart?

I don’t know about replacement but getting a refund for a prepaid order is an easy process but the money is not going to reach you soon. Go to your order and click on return the package. It will show a list of reasons. You can select one or you can write your own and as soon as it is processed a flipkart agent will come to your address to collect the package. Return the package (Make sure the package retains all the products that came in and the bill too). He’ll ask for your signature and on doing it your returning of package is done. The process of getting a refund starts after this. Usually this takes 7 to 15 days to get the money in your account. More delay can also be caused by your bank. If it is a cash on delivery product, i think your money is stored in flipkart account for you to buy something else. You can get it back by providing your Bank account number.ThanksDeeksha KulkarniAmulyam
