Industrial Piercing Help

How can I help my industrial piercing heal? It’s already 3 weeks but it's infected and slightly bleeding.

Only a doctor can diagnose an infection. Some bleeding and swelling around the piercing site(s) is normal. If there is clear/white/pale yellow liquid/puss this is most likely an over production of white blood cells which aid the healing process (I can’t remember the proper name for it). If there is puss that is more yellow or smells bad then it indicates an infection. You should go back to the piercer, or to a reputable piercer, for advice. But they can’t (and shouldn’t) diagnose it as either infected or not.Make sure the jewellery is high quality implant grade titanium (not surgical steel) and internally threaded or push-pin.Mix 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt in 1 cup of boiled water. Once it has cooled a bit, you should ideally use sterile gauze for this but cotton wool would do, dip the gauze into the solution and hold it against the piercing site. Then repeat for each side of each piercing. Do this once in the morning and once in the evening. If you do have to use cotton wool be very careful that it doesn’t leave behind any fibres on the piercings, this is another advantage of using non-woven gauze as it won’t leave fibres behind which disrupt healing.Sleep on the other side. Keep your hair away from the piercing. Try to keep hair washing days and swimming to a minimum to keep the ear dry. Don't take phone calls on the side of the piercing (your phone is covered in bacteria). Don’t touch it apart from when cleaning (as above), and have clean hands when you do clean it.

Industrial Piercing Help?

Getting an industrial is not just about getting 2 holes at random and stuffing a bar in there later. The shape of your ear has to be taken into account and the piercings have to be placed at the correct angles to avoid putting pressure on your ear that could distort it. An industrial is a CUSTOM piercing, meaning measurements must be taken and it must be placed just for you. Copying someone else's picture is just going to get you into a big mess.

Going to Claire's a terrible idea. The ear piercing guns there are not sterile and can tear up your cartilage, leaving you with nasty scarring and a slow to heal piercing. The earrings used at Claire's arent as large as the barbells used for an industrial. So the holes you would have wouldnt even be big enough to accomodate the jewlery you want. Claire's is not going to be much cheaper by the time you add it all up. A professional piercer charges 60-80 dollars and will have the job done right the first time. Going to Claire's will cost you 20 dollars a piercing plus a 20 dollar industrial bar later that won't even fit you correctly. Thats a lot of wasted money and time.

Body piercing isnt something that you can skimp on or try to get by with. It MUST be done correctly in order to be safe and heal well. Take yourself to a professional piercer so they can give you the piercing that you want and have it fit your ear.

If you are wanting to avoid wearing the bar for a period of time, speak to your piercer about wanting an industrial bar in the future and have them do the piercings at the correct angles to accomodate it. Some piercers will do this, others prefer not to.

You need a professional piercer if you want an industrial. Save up the money and get it done safely and correctly. Anything less is just going to be a waste of money and end up in a mess.

Industrial Piercing, help?

I just got my Industrial piercing a couple days ago and the top helix piercing is kind of purple. Is it infected or just bruised? It's not oozing any pus, a little blood but bleeding has stopped.

I have other piercings on my ears but none of them have turned purple.
Also with this piercing, should I turn the bar when cleaning?

Industrial piercing...healing help?

Industrials can actually take up to a year to fully heal. Most of them put up a good fight not to heal for several months. Many people end up with some scarring around the piercing sites even when they take the best care of the area. Often these bumps will go away with time and more good care, but it can be extremely frustrating for the wearer.

Industrials are so much trouble for so many people that my piercer refuses to perform them on the general public without intense persuasion and complete understanding on the part of the piercee of what they are getting into.

Personally I feel that bactine is too harsh for a cartilage piercing and can overdry the area, slowing your healing. Some people have great results with it, but even more people have success with sea salt soaks.

To do this mix 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (or non-iodized salt) in 8oz of warm water. Apply to the piercing with cotton wool for a few minutes. Sea salt soaks clean the area, soothe some soreness, and can help speed your healing.

If the little bit of skin is just hanging around being annoying, then just leave it alone and keep an eye on it. Picking at it may make things worse, so don't try to tear it off. If it gets larger, hurts more, or does anything unappealing then show it to your piercer. Just let the skin do its thing unless it really misbehaves.

Cartliage piercings tend to improve for a few weeks, then take a turn for the worse, and then progress toward healing again. This can happen because you slacked on cleaning one week, you slept on it wrong, you got it caught on something, or it's just being obnoxious. As long as you never touch your piercing with dirty hands, do your best to keep it trauma free, and clean it on schedule it will eventually heal.

You can expect a sore, crabby ear for at least a few weeks. If you're lucky, it may heal in a matter of months. If you're like most people it will be a nuisance for a few weeks, a mild aggravation for a few months, and then finally heal up as you intended.

Just keep cleaning your piercing (you will eventually be able to cut down from 3 times a day to once or twice) and keep dirty hands away from it. Return to your piercer if you start seeing strange lumps, bubbles, or anything else out of place. A piercer can often help you solve "bump" related issues if you go in soon enough for help.

How to soothe industrial piercing?

yep. thats an industrial for you. it's going to feel like that for about a week. take some aspirin and do some warm sea salt soaks (1/4 tsp sea salt to 1 cup warm water) every day for about 5 minutes for the entire healing process. the salt soaks will prevent infection and help with swelling. after the soaks you can always put ice on it also. that should help with swelling and pain. but make sure to soak your ear. dont use a qtip or cotton ball. sooaaakkk the ear. it softens the crusties and gets rid of them and prevents them from getting in your piercing, which causes infection. but some aspirin, sea salt soaks and ice should help a ton with the pain. also try not to sleep on it. it will irritate the piercing!

What is the best way to care for an industrial piercing?

Same as with other piercings. Do not touch the fresh piercing. Keep the area clean by using saline solution. Boil water then cool it down, add a quarter of tablespoon of non-iodised salt. Dip a cotton wool ball in this solution and hold onto the pierced area. Repeat it w a fresh cotton ball a few times. Do this regime a few times a day and it helps the area heal quicker and without infections. Even if the piercing looks angry red or swollen, saline soaks promote healing and calm infections very well. This method works well for everyone. Another idea is to use a saline spray for piercings such as H2Ocean as it is less fussy to apply. But saline w cotton ball always does the trick to me even when my nose piercings got v irritated /inflamed, saltwater reduced this in just 2 days and the healing was also much faster. In case u have crusties, then u can remove them gently with a q-tip soaked in saline as well. Do not use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide or any other harsh, drying stuff.

Can i put ice on my industrial piercing?

I got my industrial pierced 5 days ago (Saturday) and i twisted it (now I know not to) and now it is red, swollen and a bit sore now and then. How can I take care of it so it will go away without taking it out? And to make the swelling down?

How to get an industrial piercing to stop hurting?

I would just do Sea Salt Soaks daily, it reduces redness, stops infections, and stops the pain! Just in case you don't know the Sea Salt recipe here it is:

1. Sea Salt ( NON IODINE ) -- You can get it from any store that sells salt, seasonings ect. I would suggest just going to the dollar tree where they sell everything for $1 and buy it.

2. Styrofoaf cup -- You can use a bowl, or anything.

______________

Step 1: Fill cup, bowl ect with warm water ( as warm as you can handle )

Step 2: Take 1/4 tbs. sea salt ( or just put in the cup until it taste as salty as your tears )

Step 3: Put your whole ear and piercing in the cup or bowl and let it soak for 10 minutes.

Do this 2 times a day and you'll be fine! Good luck! Hope it helps.
