Infected Bubble Being My Newly Pierced Hole

Is my second hole piercing infected?!?

I got my second hole pierced early November and now I realize there is a lump by the hole. my ear doesn't hurt there is no discharge of any kind and my earrings go in fine so I don't know what's wrong with it. the bump its self doesn't hurt at all only when I pinch it. please help:( thanks

Is my lip piercing infected?

The fact that the liquid you describe is white- pale yellow proves it is not infected, this liquid is called lymph and is a component of blood and natural to healing.

If the pus were darker yellow-green then infection is likely.

You have to use a certain measurement of sea salt - water ratio in order to not dry out your skin.
Use 1/4 of a teaspoon of sea salt to a mug of kettle boiled water, leave it to cool a bit so it's warm but won't burn you. The best option is to simply soak the piercing in the solution (put your chin in a cup!) until the water cools completely.

If you have sensitive skin rinse the area with fresh water to remove any excess salt.

Good luck with the piercing, remember not to turn or play with the jewellery and only use organic sea salt! normal table salt won't help at all.
Do not use any antibacterial soaps or Bactine, it even says on the Bactine website that it's NOT recommended for piercings. Only use Sea Salt Soaks. Any harsh chemicals will only strip the piercing of the good bacteria needed to heal the piercing as well as the bad bacteria.

Also, as a lot of people on here are clearly misinformed, if your piercing is infected you will see the following symptoms:

The piercing will be leaking a darker green-yellow pus, the area will feel hot to the touch and very sore. If this occurs DO NOT TAKE IT OUT, doing so can trap the infection under the skin and cause an abscess. You will need to leave the jewellery in to help drain the infection and your doctor will give you antibiotics. Sorted.

How can I treat an infected ear piercing bump?

i got rid of all my piercings bumps by first cleaning them religiously with saline until they were no longer pus-y. Make sure its dry, don't slather it in saline because you think that would clean it properly! Then i started to apply wheat germ oil to it religiously - the skin would dry up, (gross but bear with) id pick it off and then apply more oil. i'd say it takes a few weeks for it to go but that's worked for all three of my piercing bumps

Purple bubble on bottom belly piercing hole?

ive had my piercing for a year now and recently i got this purple bubble on the bottom hole. its gotten bigger since the beginning of the week. the bubble is purple but its also kinda clear like water is in it or something. clear enough that i can see the bar... it feels raw when i touch it. like new skin is trying to form. and it inches like its trying to heal. is this an infection?

My belly button piercing has a bubble around the bottom hole?

Hey I had the same problem. It either a keloid or scarring. Leave it alone. It will go away eventually. I am prone to keloids, and all my piercings have had them. I have also had all my piercings infected. DO NOT TAKE IT OUT. If it is infected, the ring will allow it to drain. When mine was infected really badly it pussed and would thump if I even bumped it or layed on my stomach. Also make sure if you are using the "banana" or "curved" barbells in it, make sure they are the right length for the depth of your piercing. A navel piercing has a high tendency to reject like other "surface" piercings. My friend had hers done the same day and it rejected due to the jewelry she put it in and stretch marks from her having 2 children. Mine took from October 2007 until June 2008 to stop pusing, and for my bumps to go away. My traugs took 1 year from the bumps to go away. Try using something called H2Ocean on it. It works wonders for me. Just spray it on the piercing a few times a day or soak the piercing with it sprayed on a cotton ball. If you cant get H2Ocean use Sea Salt ( not table salt) mixed with warm water. It will do the same thing. And are you using a type of cheap metal in you jewelry. I can wear surgical steel, but if I use belly button rings from Hot Topic or those jewelry pagodas my bump comes back. Don't give up on it and don't take it out unless you check with your piercer. And find a piece of jewelry ( preferably not one of those overly-decorative ones I used a longer curved/banana barbell that only had 2 gems on it) and just use the H2Ocean or warm sea salt water, and dont try and pop any bubbles. Trust me the fight is worth it. I have fought with all my piercings ( my monroe, 12-00g. earrings, belly button, now retired snake bites...) I'm getting my eyebrow done an I know it will get infected but its worth the battle.

Is my tongue piercing infected if the bottom hole is white around it and a bit red and it stings when I push the bar up to touch the bottom?

I'm not a piercer...so I wouldn't know for sure. But I'm thinking your tongue piercing might be very irritated because of the amount your playing with it and how your playing with it. The white your seeing, is a healing layer at the hole. That's your tongue trying to heal itself. But it's strange that it's on the bottom. Is there anything on the top of your tongue piercing? Is your tongue still pretty swollen? How is it doing overall. The reason I ask is because it will give a decent idea of your situation. But if it was me...I'd still get it checked out by a piercer..

Industrial piercing with infection bubble things?

I would clean it multiple times a day, stop popping the infection too, it'll clear up on it's own. When you pop it you are just creating another hole bacteria can get into and make the infection worse. I would get some iodine and clean it every day. If you can't find iodine dawn dish soap works well too! After the iodine (or dish soap, washed off of course) drys a bit put on some neosporin. Then you might want to try and find some large swabs or bandaid s (depending on where the piercing is at) and cover it for a day or so to keep it clean while the healing process starts. Once it's started healing open dry air is best for it. Make sure you wash the area around it with an antibacterial soap each time you shower so that no dirt run off from other parts of your body is left behind and infects the area. Also, make sure after every shower you dry the area very well. If the piercing is in the lower part of your body I'd avoid baths until it's fully healed.

Also you might want to try and switch the piercing out with a plastic place holder if at all possible. Your piercing shop might be able to do this. There is a chance you are allergic to the metal that you were pierced with and as long as you have that same metal in the hole it will never heal. I've had this happen to me and I can only wear real gold or plastic.

Hope that helps some! Good Luck!

Lip piercing infection bump(photo inc.)?

A bump does not equal infection. Unless you have bright redness, swelling (the lip, not the bump), a dark and/or bloody discharge, and pain, you very likely do not have an infection. This kind of bump is very common with lip piercings. Basically, your body is trying too hard to heal itself and is overcompensating by producing too much tissue.

The first think I would recommend you do is chamomile tea bag soaks twice a day. Chamomile is a natural anti-inflammatory, and has worked very well for other people with problems like yours. Take a chamomile tea bag, steep it in hot water, then apply the bag directly to the bump for 10 minutes (after it cools enough not to burn). Second, try to identify anything that may be irritating your piercing. Bumps like this are often the result of some irritant, and getting rid of the source of irritation can fix it. Is your jewelry the proper size? If your stud is the original, you likely need a shorter one. Movement of the jewelry can cause a lot of irritation. Do you chew on your lip or your jewelry? Even doing so sporadically can cause problems. Is the angle of the piercing off to where the back does not sit flush with your lip? What do you use for aftercare? Do you use a mouthwash that contains alcohol? Do you eat a lot of spicy or acidic foods? Do you drink a lot of soda? All these things can contribute to bumps. If you cannot identify any source(s) of irritation and chamomile doesn't work, you can try aspiring pastes. Crush up a non-coated aspirin, add a little water to make a paste, then apply it directly to the bump. Rinse off after 5 minutes. Be very careful not to get it on the healthy tissue as it's very caustic, and use it no more than once a day. Aspirin pastes should be a last resort, only use them if all else fails. I don't generally recommend using them inside the mouth because of the potential for chemical burns, but it can be pretty effective when gentler methods don't work.

You are welcome to ask your doctor about the bump, but you will likely be told to simply remove the piercing, which is probably not necessary. You may also be given antibiotics, which is really not necessary, since you have a bump, not infection. I would never tell someone to disregard a doctor's advice, but I really think your piercing is savable, and I really don't think antibiotics will fix your bump.

Can I put aquaphor/neosporin on my newly pierced cartilage? Will it help the healing process? Will it ease the pain?

No. This is a very bad idea. In fact, I believe you will read on the packaging of both those products that they are “NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PUNCTURE WOUNDS.” Piercings are puncture wounds. Attempting to heal them with ointments like neosporin will not work out well for the piercing. In fact on piercings like navel, eyebrow, surface and dermal implants it may even help the body heal by forcing the jewelry out of the body. There are 2 great methods for healing a piercing. These 2 methods have been told to me over and over again by every piercer who has ever done work on me.Warm salt water soaks. Soak it, dip it or gargle with it depending on where the piercing is. This removes any crusties and helps healing. The Leave It The Fuck Alone method. This actually works quite well. Leave your dirty hands off the piercing. Don’t touch it, play with it or pick at it.Cartilage piercings are rough. They can take up to a year to heal. Especially if you use that ear to chat on the phone or sleep on that side of your body. My advice is to keep it clean, keep your hair from getting tangled around it and then leave it alone. If you have to touch it, wash your hands first. And if the pain is troublesome and there is no sign of infection take some Advil. If there are signs of infection, get to your doctor.
