Information About The Navy

How can I find information on my dad who was in the Navy and was on HMS Stalker in the last war?

Normally I would suggest the RN Library in Portsmouth Dockyard but it is currently more or less closed apart from a once a month “ask the archivist” session happening in a couple of different museums mostly on the Gosport side so, initially until that gets back to normal, research the ship which you can do via Wikipedia at home and augment that with research at Portsmouth Central Library Naval Collection (carry proof of identity and address)Send to the RN records and request the full service documents of your father - if you have any medals or a paybook you can find his service number otherwise just give as much detail as you can. I am pretty sure the current cost for everything the records office holds is £30.

Navy Swcc information?

Typically no, although situations arise where it might become necessary such as boarding another vessel or landing under fire. As to specific jobs typically SWCC boat crews (depending on what kind of craft) have four to five guys whose jobs range from navaigator to the coxswain (driver) who is usually the most senior guy there such as a Chief. But everyone has the capability and training to perform everyone else's job in case something happens. All SWCC members get in depth medical training and all of them are parachute qualified since the use of the Maratime Craft Aerial Delivery System (MCADs) is becoming far more common. Apart from that there's three Boat Teams who are led by a SEAL Commander since SWCC doesn't have its own officers. (Although they do have Warrant Officers for guys who made Chief and above) There's Team 12 (out of Coronado) and they're on the Mark Vs and RHIBs, Team 20 (out of Virgina beach) who mostly focus on MCADs, and Team 22 (out of Stennis MS) are the sole operators of the SOC-Rs and do mostly riverine operations.

I would like to get some information on the Navy intelligence specialist rating?

Hello I would just to know a few things about this job. I would appreciate some advice from those who serve in this job. Heres some of my questions.
1. How hard is it go get into this job, ASVAB scores, recuiting numbers, etc.
2. What is the training like? Where, how long, is it intense?
3. Is this job both active and reserves? Generally what would the job be like in each?
4. What are some pros and cons of being an intelligence specialist?

Thanks for your help!

Where can I find some information on the Navy Development Warfare Group?

I’m doing a report on the unit. I need information on things such as the recruitment, jobs, missions, etc for not only the SEALs in DEVGRU, but also for the support and other jobs in that unit. If there is any information released.

Nirmala Sitharaman. Information on a Navy JAG Officer/Lawyer?

If he's already a lawyer, see the first link below. If he is not a lawyer now, he will have to enter the Navy as an officer (which requires a Bachelor's degree) and then serve a minimum of two years and apply and qualify before the Navy will send him to law school (Legal Education Program - second link below). During that time the Navy WILL send him to sea and he will be gone about 50% of nights during his first two or three years; normally that will be one in four nights when his ship is in homeport and six months at at a time when he is deployed. Then while he's in law school you'll see him every day and night, but once he's done, as a JAG Officer he will deploy again, normally two six month deployments in a two to three year sea tour, followed by a three year shore tour. Shore tours could be in the U.S. but could also be overseas--but as long as you're married, odds are you'll go with him. Day to day routine on shore duty is much like any other lawyer, with a higher likelihood of occasional travel. BTW, don't draw ANY conclusions from the TV series JAG because it has no relationship to real-life JAG officers. He will make less money and work harder than 90% of his law school classmates, but you may find that he loves the job and he may even stick around for a career. A Navy career is neither good nor bad, it's just different; like anything there are both good and bad aspects to it. I believe--as my career JAG friends do--that the good far outweighs the bad.

U.S. Navy Information System Technician A-School C-School?

A School is general training for your rating. C School is more specialized training in a particular area within your rating, or a particular piece of equipment. You should probably get a NEC (Navy Enlisted Classification) when you complete C School. I'm not familiar with the IT rating, so I don't know how many different C Schools there are for IT (we had RM and DP, which combined later to form IT).

Typically, to go to C School, you need to give something to the Navy. If you go right after A School, you will probably be asked to extend for 1 year. You can also get a C School as part of their re-enlistment. Either way, they are not going to give it to you for nothing. They want something for their investment.

And GOOD LUCK to you (or, as you'll hear a lot in the Navy, FAIR WINDS AND FOLLOWING SEAS)! The 6 years I served in the Navy are the best 6 years of my life. Although the military was not what I wanted for a career, I don't regret it at all. Feel free to drop me a message if you want (I don't have email turned off on my profile page).
