Becoming a California resident for in state tuition help!?

Hi I am from Chicago Illinois And I would like to attend college in California. Now I live with my mom in Illinois but my dad lives in California. I am a juniour in high school, and I have been planning to go to college in California because I love California and some schools there are looking at me to run track and field for them there. I was planning to move at the end of juniour year to California and go to school senior year there so I can get residencey in California so I can get in state tuition. So I was wondering if my dad living in California would make a difference of me becoming a resident there? Also if I move the summer before my senior year I move to California will it make a difference with my residencey? So like when I start applying to colleges early senior year, is that when I'd have to tell them if I'm a in state or not and would I be a resident by then?

Military and tuition assistance?

I'm not sure if anyone has the answer to this question, but I'm a little confused. I just graduated with a bachelor's degree and am know I eventually want to get my MBA. I also am very interested in getting military experience. So I'm trying to decide if it would be more beneficial to do my master's now, take out federal loans, and then join the military and get them paid off through the Loan Forgiveness Program, OR join the military now as an Officer and take advantage of tuition assistance. From all the research I've done, all branches of the military offer a maximum of $4500 per year for tuition assistance. However I was talking to a recruitment officer today and he said that under certain conditions the military will pay for your entire tuition. Are there other programs besides TA that will assist with that? Does it make a difference if you are working on your bachelor's or master's and/or are an enlisted or officer? Most Master's programs are 50K+ so with TA are you supposed to go to school for ten years? Thanks for any input.

How to qualify for in-state tuition at Wayne State University?

Most states require that you must live there for 6 months or 1 year before being allowed to be considered a resident. AND you must live in an apartment, NOT on campus and pay your own utility bills or have a local job to show pay stubs AND you have to immediately change your license from MA to Michigan, these are all needed to prove you live there.
DO NOT use someone else's address unless you will be living with them (say grandparents) and they will legally be supporting you (paying for your food/ you pay for nothing and live in their home). If you use another relative's address and don't live with them year round then that is considered ILLEGAL and you can get into serious trouble with the state and the college.

Best thing to do is read the application of the college OR speak to someone in the registrars office at that college and ask how long you have to live in the state to be considered a resident.

Why do universities charge so much for international students?

Why do universities charge so much for international students?Because that’s what it costs the university to provide that service to you. In fact in Canada, our tax dollars even subsidize international students to some degree. So it’s really unfair to complain that it is expensive. The exception is Ontario, and that is greatly skewed by the fees charged at University of Toronto. For most of the colleges and universities in Ontario, the international tuition fees are only slightly above cost.Source: More on International Fees in Canadian Universities; my annotation in red

Can I use my friend's address in another state to sign up for a lower minimum liability auto insurance rate if my state allows out-of-state insurance?

No. Using a false address is material misrepresentation. If discovered your policy will be voided. If that happens while there is a claim pending, coverage will be denied. You should always buy more than statutory minimum liability limits. Those limits are so low that they’ll hardly pay for a broken arm, much less a fatality. Even if you are judgment proof, you should be a responsible citizen. The premium rates do not increase proportionately with increasing policy limits. It’s not costly to add more coverage.

My dad said I’m not worthy enough for him to pay my college tuition and said he would pay for my sister because she’s worthy enough and smarter than me. What do I do?

Your Dad has stated his terms regarding your education. If you accept them, and you want to go to college, do whatever it is that you must to do to pay for it on your own. Look for resources. Talk to people who know about other ways to do it.If you cannot accept them, both of you will simply waste energy as he refuses to change, and you keep trying to change him. Don't do that. Put your time to a better use, like things and people who are a help to you.Prove him wrong. But never rub it in. Give him every opportunity to be proud of you. But don't say “I told you so! “ I know that's easier said than done, but if you can do it, the benefits to you are endless and priceless. He, on the other hand, will someday suffer greatly because of his hard heart. He's probably going to bitterly regret that. You don't have to be the one who makes that happen, and it's better for you if you don't. He has already set himself up for it. Focus your time and attention on setting yourself up for greater things. You can do it, and you will never regret it.
