Internal Colonialism Post Colonial Society

What is post-colonialism, modernism, and post-modernism?

Post-modernism brought light to specific issues and qualms in a new fashion. It used different artistic styles to represent what was happening at that time in history.

Post colony means the cutural, political and ecomonic condition after being a colony. Colonial societies are those were being ruled by imperialists such as Britain , France,Germany etc. By the end of 2nd world war UN charter declared that no country will make another country a colony. The era after 2nd world war is said to be the post colonial era when the decolonization process was started and many countries got independence from colonial rule. Post colonial societies are the those transformed after colonial rule.

“Imperialism” (classic sense) - The expansion of a political entity through military might and the incorporation of territory taken from another political entity into the corpus of the expanding political entity. Examples - Russia, China, the United States of America (Iran will be included in this list shortly after Iran’s dominance over the government of Iraq has been solidified).PLEASE NOTE - The above has been registered with a multitude of “plagiarism detection” services so either do further research on your own, or properly credit it.

Disadvantages of postcolonial literary criticism? Sources Wanted.?

Fascinating. You say post-colonial, I hear 20th-century-African writers. The Colonizer and the Colonized is pretty standard academic fodder for post-colonial considerations. And I don't really do post-colonialism without my three favorites: Wole Soyinka, Ayi Kwei Armah, and Kwame Anthony Appiah. You may even want to look into pan-african writers (Jeah Rhys' Wide Sargasso Sea--oh, the heart clenches!).

BUT, your question is about the pros and cons of cross-application. Finding sources that specifically refer to The Tempest from that perspective may be difficult. (I can't think of any off the top of my head, but that wasn't my focus in school.) But not impossible (http://postcolonialism.50webs.com/author... http://arcjournals.org/pdfs/ijsell/v1-i2... http://emc.eserver.org/1-3/loomba.html, and www.placestudies.com/blog/postcolonial-t... all immediately pop up in a search, and handily reference other authors). I particularly liked the peterpick essay. Don't read so much that you get overwhelmed with other people's opinions. But don't read so little that you're reinventing the wheel with your essay. Post-colonialism is an interesting perspective, certainly, but the fact that it isn't a perfect fit is part of what makes it so appealing as an academic argument. (What I mean by that is riddle me this: Shakespeare would have had minimal contact with the culture he mimics in The Tempest. From whence, then, did he develop the understanding of post-colonization? Who or what had England already attempted to colonize that would create a post-colonial atmosphere that Shakespeare could learn from and apply to another culture?) Good luck!

What is colonial epistemology?

I don't know what it is... but i want it

"Depending on the Colonial power involved, Colonialism impacted many aspects of the society being colonized. Language, law, culture, architecture and foods were often imposed on the resident peoples. Sometimes to their actual benefit. However, there was also feedback or fusion from the colonial areas back to the ruling power. Influences of culture, food and religion. However, as Ghandi so eloquently stated: "All peoples would prefer the bad government of the own over the enlightened rule of a foreign power."

Colonialism is a relation of domination and subordination. So, in simple words it in can be defined as the subjugation (integration of economy) of a country (Colonial Country) by another country (metropolis country) through various means for its own interests is known as colonialism. Colonialism adopts various policies like political means, economic policies, cultural policies, educational policies, legislative policies etc. Colonialism develop in various stages and at every stages uses different policies to subjugate other country. Change from one stage to another and means to be adopted depends upon the changing patterns within metropolis country in spheres like social, economic or political. Also, choices of means or policies by metropolis country depend upon local factors of colony. Some policies may be absent in one colony but may be present in another colony.
