What is the "long running script" that causes windows/internet to run slowly?

If you’re getting a “long running script” error message in your browser - it’s telling you that a piece of javascript is taking a long time to run, and asking if you’d like to stop it.It can be a sign of badly written javascript, or more likely that the code is accessing one ore more external services that aren’t responding.

My internet is running weirdly and hardly working, help?

For the past few days my internet has been running really weirdly.

It's been running very slowly, keeps freezing, I have to try many times for a website to work. When I click on a website it sometimes diverts me to other random websites. Also I can't access my emails on Yahoo Mail.

I've also been getting numerous pop ups, I tried uploading screen shots on several different image hosting sites but none of them are working it just says 'Done' in the bottom left corner of the screen but it won't upload! The pop ups advertise things like 'Car Insurance, Aspirin Canadian Pharmacy, Cheap Insurance' and the other pop up I got when I went on Tiny Pics says 'Looking for photos?, Your Computer under attack! Download anti virus now!, Free Movies Online at...'

I have run MalwareBytes, Spybot Search and Destroy, Panda Cloud, and Norton 2011 anti-virus programmes. Only Norton detected viruses but even when those were removed the problems persists and has even gotten worse.

Can anyone please help me? I don't know what to do!

Why does the Internet run slowly sometimes?

There can be so many reasons, here are some for you to look into:First and foremost, is to have your PC etc. checked for any Malware and/or Spyware. One of the most common problems I see, is that infected computers run a whole lot more slowly versus those that are clean and unaffected. You can choose from a wide variety of online cleaners from Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky, Trend Micro, etc.Secondly Check if you are using Torrents, if you are, shut them down.Check your DNS. Most of the time people will end up using their service provider's DNS, don't do this. Use Google's DNS (8.8.8.8 , 8.8.4.4) or OpenDNS (208.67.222.222 , 208.67.220.220)The speed tests options given are a must check. Use different speedtest websites and check from there what your speeds are.If your computer's hard disk is being utilized (for example for real-time backup) or disk defrag, this will slow everything down on your computer, including the loading of web pages.Clear your cache, cookies, history, etc. on your browser. Close the browser completely. Then restart it and check.Download a different browser and check with that. Does that make a difference? If you're using a Wifi, make sure your wifi modem is not compromised, it could very well be someone else is hogging your bandwidth.Ask your Internet Service Provider for what the average ping times are. You should be able to ping various websites (and if you're within the US), the ping times should be 100ms or less. If you see anything above 300-or-400ms then it could be a routing issue or a physical media/last mile issue.Ask a friend to bring in their laptop and surf the same websites you are. See if they also get the same slow speeds. Never just rely on your machine to make the assessment. It can be quite difficult at times to pint-point with accuracy where the fault lies. What about other apps? Do they take time or time out?

Fast internet, Very slow video!?!?!?

Here is the problem. My download and upload is pretty fast, 10mb/1.5-speedtest.net, 8mb/1-speakeasy.org. Now when I go to any site that has video, it plays very slow. It will buffer quickly, but even after it is done it is still very choppy. It's really Ping me off. I have windows 7 and a new hp i just bought in october. It's a AMD dual core 2.3 with 3 gigs ram. I have used ccleaner and cleaned things up a bit but it's still very choppy. Sometimes I think it's my computer because after it has loaded it's still choppy.

My laptop runs very slow on internet but my phone runs normally on the same network?

1. Click Start, go to control panel.2. Click Network and Internet.3. Click Networking and Sharing Center.4. Click Change adapter settings5. Find your wireless adapter, right click it, and click Properties.6. Scroll down to Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and double click it.7. Click the radio button that says "Use the following DNS server addresses:"8. Put 8.8.8.8 for the Preferred DNS server, and 8.8.4.4 for the Alternate DNS server.9. Click OK and test your internet.

Why does the internet run slowly when you're far from the WiFi source?

Because of the Inverse-square law which explains the loss of signal as the waves carrying data move through the space between your AP and Wi-Fi Client.Radios work by sending waves of energy in the form of photons, in the case of Wi-Fi these are microwave photons, which spread out from the AP in different geometric patterns depending on the antennas used to amplify the signal. Think of throwing a rock into a pond, near the point that the rock breaks the water there will be a large wave in the surface, as the ripples spread out across the pond, the energy provided by the falling rock is distributed over a larger and larger area, meaning that the wave becomes smaller as it moves outwards. As Wi-Fi devices move further and further from the AP they use lower and lower complexity encodings, which trade off range for speed. If you're old enough to remember the sound of two modems negotiating for their highest common transmission speed you'll have some idea of the process works: the client tries an encoding and sends a frame, if it's not acknowledged by the AP the client re-transmits the frame at a lower rate until the AP can decode and acknowledge it. This negotiation process takes some time and further reduces the data rate.
