Iphone 3gs Will Not Turn On Or Charge

My iphone wont turn on if is not charging and when it does wont go past apple logo?

Im having a problem with my iphone, its been acting weird for a while now but this time is definitely crapping out on me. I charge it for hours and it always says its 10 percent, or 20 percent max, then when i unplug it it turns off completely and when i turn it back on it wont go past the apple logo or just turns off.... i dont know what to do anymore!!! ive drop it many times and i guess maybe that has cause it to have a malfunction but i cant afford a new one right now and my upgrade is not until october so i am just trying to keep it working at least until september or something :( any suggestions???

Will Siri ever come to iPhone 3GS?

Let me say at the outset that all non-apple statements on SIRI are speculation (including mine below).I believe that the iphone/ipad hardware is probably not the only, or most important, reason that SIRI is now limited to the iPhone 4s.   I think it is far more likely that Apple would rather have 5 million people suddenly using the SIRI servers (approximate 4s owners),  than 120 million plus (ballpark total iphone/ipad owners) utilizing the SIRI servers.  If I were in charge of their IT support, I would have begged them not to turn on SIRI to 120 million people suddenly (even 4 million would be scary, but I spent 30 years in IT so I have learned caution by hard knocks).Another likely reason is that having SIRI only on the 4s gives people more of an incentive to upgrade their iPhones.

What is the fastest way to charge an iPhone?

Type of Charger : The USB port on our laptop/computers is 5 volts, 0.5 amps while the standard charger that comes with the iPhone has 5 volts and 1 amps current. Moreover, the iPad charger has 5.1 volts and 2.1 amps of current. So the power source to which our iPhone is plugged in, will decide the amount of time taken to charge up the device. USB Hubs that plug into wall generally have 0.5 A ports, maybe one 2.1 A port.Airplane Mode: If you want to charge your iPhone faster, you can turn on the Airplane mode which stops all the incoming and outgoing signals, by turning off the WiFi, Bluetooth and signal radios. This helps to charge the iPhone faster if you can bear the inconvenience of no network for sometime.Turn off: You may switch off your phone altogether to get the phone charger faster than the above mentioned methods.Source: https://discussions.apple.com/do...

Why won't my iPhone turn on until it is fully charged?

So I have a second generation iPhone with the iOS4.3 software. If my phone ever dies, I will plug it in, and it will give me the "dead and not charged enough to turn on" picture. If it is charging for twenty minutes, and I unplug it, it will still say it is dead. My phone will only turn on when it is fully charged, It is really inconvenient. Why does it do that? Can i fix it or is it some glitch that came with the phone? Thanks!

Will an iPhone turn on without a battery?

Short answer , no . The power delivery circuit has the battery as the source of power , even when plugged in from what I gather . So even when you plug it in it draws the power from the battery . The charger should provide enough power to overcome this but sometimes they don't , like playing a heavy game on a laptop while its plugged in . The charger is rated at say 39 watt but the computer is wanting 42 watt , it will slowly discharge the battery even though it’s being charged . I have seen this on numerous laptops were the laptop can pull more juice than the provided power supply can give , cell phones are no different . Some devices can operate without the battery but to my experience it was because the charger was overpowering enough to bypass the circuit and the device doesn't know there wasn't a battery ( older devices ).

IPhone: charging is not supported with this accessory?

All was well in my world. I was getting the juice I desperately needed from the plug, and I could carry on playing Angry Birds and logging long bike rides again. Bliss.

Some time had passed, and poof like that it stopped charging itself again. And there I was... looking at that stupid yellow exclamation point again. I picked up the other phone and called Apple... Right after hearing that first automated voice system, I hung up with Apple. I shrugged off their Apple protection plan 2 years ago when I purchased my phone. I was already formulating my own CS talk track for genius bar repair...

Next thought was that it was software related as I had physically cleaned it and then had tried all sorts of different power plugs with no success. Frustrated, I left it alone and I started to research the webz about iOS power management and my ageing device. Nothing really good came up except people experiencing this same issue, a seemingly prevalent one.

This is when I began to think my phone was really on the verge of death. So I synced my phone immediately and then nervously started exploring contingency plans like buying another phone or upgrading my plan... but none of those options made economical sense with the new phone about to come on the market.

DANETERRELL3the usual way to dela with that is by

1.try other USB cable,or charger.

2.Replace dock flex connector.

3.Reball/Replace PMIC.

Anything after that could be turning into a board level repair, due to failed SMD components, like the diodes. Hope this helps, good luck.

Can't seem to find guides on dock flex connector or PMIC. Starting to wonder if not better off replacing phone?

DANETERRELL3, Nov 23 2012

PMIC=Power Management IC dock flex connector= the cable on your dock connector. Check the connector on the board. Are you pretty handy with a multimeter and a soldering station?

I am having problems with my iphone as well. It kkeeps saying charging is not supported with this device. I have tried restoring it and a lot of other methods online. I also read that it could be the dock connector. I was just wondering if anyone knew any other methods to make this go away before i buy a new dock connector. Any input would be greatly appreciated thanks sandy.

Does regularly not charging your iPhone battery up to full charge impact the battery life at all?

I think of battery life in terms of number of charge cycles rather that full / empty.  If a battery is good for 500 charge cycles, it matters less about full charges and more about how many times you charge it.  This seems to be true about most battery technology types. If used gently, you get 5 years, if cycled every day or so you get 2 years, etc.It is also my understanding that part of running the lithium batteries down has more to do with letting the smart chip on it know the charge 'range' of the battery to more accurately reflect % full which is why Apple recommends full charge and discharge.  This also helps prevent over charging of the battery and extends life.

Are there iPhone Apps to check battery charge status?

The iPhone has a battery indicator at the top of the screen that shows you how much battery you have left. If you do not have the percentage, you can turn that on under the general tab of settings on your device, no need for a widget. Plus, you wouldn't be able to put a widget up there anyway.

Why does my iPhone always get muted when it is charging?

If you are facing this issue frequenty, then take the backup using iTunes and restore with latest OS and test once without restoring your backup. If you still face the same issue then it could be issue with hardware and your iPhone will be replaced if it is under warrenty. If it is working fine after restoring to latest version then restore your backup too and test it. But I am sure that if it is working fine after restoring iOS then there won’t be any prob after restoring your backup.

Help!!!! iPhone BARELY got wet, turned off by itself??

PLEASE HELP. I know there's not much you all can do but share your similar experiences and what you did to fix it. Okay, so I was going to the bathroom and I put my iPhone on the sink, when I was done I turned the water on so it'll get hot, as I was about to wash my hands, I accidentally hit my iPhone into the sink!! There was little water in the sink but the faucet was on. Still, I quickly got it out of there, it was probably in there for half a second. So I dried it off with one swipe of a towel( there was that little water on it. Once it was dried, I hit my home button and everything was working as it should. Since there was barely any water on it I figured it was fine. So about an hour later I went to get on twitter and the screen just starts flickering and then turns off completely. I tried to turn it back on but I wouldn't. So immediately I put it in a ziplock full if rice... is there ANYTHING you guys suggest I should do? Has this happened to you, what'd you do?????
