Iphone 5 Not Charging In Laptop But Does With Wall Outlet

Why does my iPhone and the plug to the charger get so hot sometimes?

Your houses power is typically at a much higher voltage than a cellphone can use. Typically a cellphone will charge on anything around 5.5 volts (this is a rough estimate based on a computer’s usb voltage). Your house’ power can be anything from 110 V to 220 V depending on where you live. The end result is that if you want to charge your phone directly from a wall socket you need to bring the voltage down to do so. Your cellphone’s charger does this automatically by means of a built in charge circuit. This charge circuit generates its own heat when it’s doing it’s job. This is why a cellphone charger will get hot.A battery works because of chemistry. When you charge it you are reversing chemical reactions inside the battery. These chemical reactions generate heat. This is why a battery gets hot. This is also why you don’t want to overcharge batteries or connect them to voltages that are too high. In extreme cases like that those chemical reactions can make a battery go pop.

Are phone chargers dangerous if plugged into the wall, but not a phone?

I’ve been building electronics for 15 years - 10 of which for medical devices, and I can say with absolute certainty: They’re absolutely not dangerous if plugged into the wall but not a phone. They produce 5 volts (sometimes 9). That’s essentially a measurement of the potential to send power. They will simply wait until there is something to accept that power. Once the phone is done charging, the charger goes back to waiting for something to accept the power again, so it’s similar to not having the phone plugged in at all.Cheap chargers can be a fire hazard under lots of conditions; not charging a phone could be one, but what’s more likely is they will overheat when charging a phone.

My iPhone is not charging with solar charger Why??? :((?

There's a lot of reasons yet this time of year the suns angle, the phone needs more stable current, the cells are to small and its not large enough to fully charge the phone would be my best queasy. They tried the same thing for the early MacBooks years ago. You where suppose to be able to fly on an airplane and use this little square solar panel that was on top of the laptop and place it on the window and not need an outlet. It was not welcomed by many.
I hope that helps.

Why doesn't my iPhone charge when plugged into anything but the included USB Wall Adapter?

Thanks for the A2A.Plug it into a known good wall outlet. I tell my customers to find a lamp that works, unplug it and plug the adapter into the same outlet. If it works, problem solved. If not, try plugging it into your computer instead of using an adapter. If that works, then get a new adapter. If that still doesn’t work, try a different cable. If that still doesn’t work, take it to an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Repair Center. There’s nothing anyone here on Quora can recommend to magically make it start charging without seeing it.

My iphone 5 Won't charge?

My iphone 5 (which I've had since the 1st day of release ) won't charge . I plug it into the wall and my moms car but it won't charge unless the battery has complety died , then it charges just enough to turn on and get to 3-10 % but i won't get past that and it will eventually die again . I don't think it's the phone or the wall outlets because I've had my iphone in a otterbox since day one and rarely take it out . The wall outlets charge everything else including my laptop .

Is it the USB cable ? If so why while it charge my phone to only 10% or enough to turn on . I can leave it charging for a while but it would be as if it wasn't plugged in.

What happens if i reset it , I have a contract with Verizon, while I still have service if i reset ? While it repair my problem

Why does my iPad say 'not charging' even when it is plugged in?

The problem: The iPad says it’s "Not Charging", and two things could happen:it is not chargingit's actually charging, but really slowly. The issue here is that iPad is receiving enough power from the charger to operate, but it's not enough to charge the battery. The iPad requires certain power level to charge normally. For example an iPad Mini usually uses about 1.7W-2.2W while you're using it. If the charger only passes this amount or less, then you’ll get the “not charging” message. To solve the problem, you have to check 3 things:chargercableUSB port/ outletThe problem is caused by one of these 3 elements.Your USB port could be old (not high-power), the cable can be damaged, or the charger could be a cheap, non-MFi-certified charger, or maybe an iPhone charger. If you use the regular iPad charger with the original cable + power outlet, you shouldn’t see this message. Also, in some cases on USB port of the computer will charge the iPad, and the other won’t.But if you turn off the iPad it will charge faster as it will not use energy while you are charging it.

Should I charge my phone by computer using a USB or directly to the wall?

Most of the answers here are incorrect. Wall adapters are typically 5V @ 1 amp, while computer USB ports are typically 5V @ 0.5 amp. Since the USB provides half the current, it charges the phone at half the speed. The slower charging is better for lithium ion battery life because:The lower current reduces the temperature of the battery during charging, which will reduce electrolyte destruction. I can feel my phone get hot when charging from a wall adapter but my phone does not get hot when charging from a computer.Slower charging typically will allow the battery to store more charge than a fast charge. It's easier to stop the charging process at ~80% when you use a computer USB due to the slower charging. By not fully-charging the battery, the cycle life will be greatly extended.Edit 4–8–18:Apple had provided the following website offering battery longevity tips, three of four refer to “avoid hotter temps” and “avoid 100% charged condition.”Link: Batteries - Maximizing Performance

Outlets are ruining cables and chargers?

I don't believe in coincidence but If it were the outlets doing this a whole lot more than power adapters and chargers would be affected. Especially things with motors like the Air Conditioning or Heat or the Refrigerator. Things like TV's, Radios etc would also be effected. That being said it can't hurt to have it checked out. First I'd make sure you have good safety grounds then make sure the voltage is correct. It is also possible that maybe static electricity got them. My next thought is not likely but possible. Static electricity. In order for most of us to even feel a static arc/discharge it has to be above 400 Volts and all you need to damage semiconductors is 1/10th of that. Again this is reaching but if you have been drawing sparks when you touch things then if is possible but not likely. If you have a lot of static zapping/jolts/sparks raising the humidity will help that a lot.
I personally do not think you are going to find a problem with the electricity but maybe the ground or static is the root cause. Either that our you are being haunted. LOL

Why does my iphone keep saying this accessory may not be supported when i try to charge it?

I have the iphone 4. I havent even had it a month, theres no damage to it. I had the original charger, and after two weeks it started saying this whether it was plugged into the wall or my laptop. So, i got a new cable cord. almost two weeks later, its saying the same thing!!
Im getting super irritated.

** If it was water damage, then it would happen all the time, not be fine a few weeks then quit then be fine when a new one comes along.
Any idea what this is or how to fix it?
Ill be calling sprint later anyways.
