Irrational Fear Of Blood.

Irrational Fear of a Blood Test? ?

Do you have any exposed veins near the joint in your arm? If you do that makes a blood test considerably easier. I've had a vial taken in about 30 seconds before. If you can remain relaxed during the process it usually goes faster, being tense doesn't help. If you don't have any exposed veins in either arm they sometimes take it from your hand which tends to take longer and leave bruising. They may have to stick you several times also, it all depends. Do you have any open wounds currently? They would take a while to fill a vial drip by drip and would not be as easy to collect from. They can prick your finger to collect blood in this manner though if you insist. The needles are all sterile and used only once the user above is trying to scare you apparently.

Yup, if you can see them clearly they're near the surface of your skin and the phlebotomist will be pleased.

Is a fear of spiders irrational?

First, arachnophobia is not stupid. It 'is' irrational, but is unbiased. It knows no age or gender,
Nor is it a joke to those inflicted with it.
These people can have such an extreme fear that it affects them physically.
You would have to understand phobias in order to realize what these people go through.
The fact that this started with a spider, progresses until the spider is not the problem, but the fear.
Would you freely let a black widow crawl on your hand? would you not feel some anxiety if you did?
If you had any sense of fear at all in doing this, 'you' could develop a phobia of this also.
You are correct in your synopsis of spiders. true; it is incredibly rare for a spider to bite a sleeping human.(most people don't know better) true; spiders rarely bite, and only then if trapped against the skin or otherwise provoked.(most people don't know this) true; spiders are not bloodsuckers and just run around biting people.(most people don't know this.)
I have handled thousands of spiders in my day,and have less than 10 bites to show for it.
You are no doubt very familiar with spiders, and simply don't have any fear of them.
People grow up today with little exposure to spiders, and know nothing but horror stories, urban myths, and hyperbole. Field trips to collect spiders and bugs and study them are a thing of the past in schools. You have to give these people a break, they are not wusses, these are normal people that just never got a chance to do other than fear spiders.

What is an irrational fear?

Fear is psychological; it exists in our minds. Fears are said to be irrational because, ultimately, what we're scared of isn't going to do us any serious harm, or at least it isn't likely to. Take your fear, for example - I've had many needles put into me so far in my life and none caused me much pain; at the most all they'd create was a small bruise and a small amount of pain (and occasionally light-headedness if blood was taken, but this was because of the blood missing, not because of the needle itself).
My partner had a fear of needles for years, but recently became unwell with a kidney infection (and other) and has had to have a number of needles. After having so many, she said a week or two back that she feels much less afraid of them now than she used to.
Thousands of people a day will have a needle injected into them and will be fine. However, someone with a fear of having, say, a car accident may argue their fear is more rational than a fear like the one you have because car accidents are frequent. But, realistically, they should be safe driving as long as they are careful and follow the rules of the road. Sure, a lot of crashes occur, but many people also get through life driving without crashing.

No one's judging (or they shouldn't be), so I wouldn't worry about it. Scan this site http://www.planetpsych.com/zPsychology_101/disorders/phobias.htm - there are hundreds of fears (more than what's on there) in existence. None of those could kill you (unless you were so scared you had a heart attack, but that would be your own doing), so what people (who say fear is irrational) wonder is basically "Why be afraid of something that can't, or isn't likely to, cause death?" (And "If you aren't afraid of death, why be scared of anything at all?")

I have an irrational fear of blood? Not actually scared of it... weird situation.?

Whenever i see blood, not my own for some reason and i mean it has to be a good bit of blood i become feint. I am not scared of it. Nothing in my mind says, oh frightening when i think of blood. I just start to become Nassaus. I was wondering how to cure this, or if there was a way? A few days ago i was watching a video in drivers edd and it was on crashes, they had real footage of crashes, and it was pretty graphic, i wasn't scared of it, but i just passed out. It also had to do with me being fairly dehydrated, but it was part the blood.

I have an irrational fear of zombies?

I suggest watching as many zombie films as possible.
Here's why.
I used to have this horrible fear of blood.
After frequently browsing the WTF section of reddit, I would stumble across links, of actual people getting gored in some way. I never really noticed it, but I just got used to it and now I don't really care.

Alternatively...

You could masturbate as much as possible. That's shhitzzz baddazz

Fears can be both rational and irrational.Fear of something that can’t hurt you is irrational, as is fear of something that could potentially hurt you but is astronomically unlikely to happen.Fear of something that can hurt you and is likely to happen is perfectly rational.Whether a fear is rational or irrational, it’s still a fear and has real physiological effects (increased perspiration, increased heart rate, activation of the “fight or flight mechanism” and in extreme cases sudden drop in blood pressure and fainting which can lead to physical injury, not to mention the psychological effects. Deliberately exploiting someone’s fears for a cheap laugh is not a form of “tough love” nor is it a form of therapy and it certainly doesn’t help them overcome their fears. It’s just being mean, something I have personally only recently come to realise, so I apologise to all those I have hurt with my “jokes” in the past. It’s not cool, it’s not funny, it’s simply bullying.

Do you have any phobias (irrational fears)?

Breaking my neck/back. It makes me cringe to hell watching someone fall on their back/neck area. It's not really irrational though, it's because I nearly broke my neck before on a trampoline.

Police officers. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a criminal or anything, but I freak out when Police (of either gender) are near me. It's something about how they're dressed and the powers they have..
I don't hate them, though.

I am not sure where your fear stems from, but I can relate. I remember a time where I was very afraid of contracting HIV. It dominated my thoughts, ruined my interpersonal relationships, and kept me from living out of fear from death (social and physical). Visions of Tom Hanks from Philadelphia would dance in my head. Here is me currently, with my two babies, and I am happy to report that nothing I feared would happen has come to pass. The rest of my answer is below.I was diagnosed with AIDS, just a few months after receiving my HIV diagnosis, 16 years ago. The medicines were worse, the stigma was worse, and I was actually given a life expectancy of two to six months. Something that should have been the absolute worst thing to hear for me…it wasn’t.HIV actually saved my life. I wanted to fight, I wanted to survive, and most importantly, I wanted to live not just be alive. I no longer feared death, more specifically, I no longer feared contracting HIV.Now I am in no way condoning becoming HIV+ as a solution. I cannot change the past and so that was what it took for me to change my future. You have the opportunity, at this very moment and at future moments, to decide to live rather than just survive.I am proof that it is possible to be happy, healthy, and HIV+. Do not let your fear of something, in this case HIV, be more harmful to you than the actual thing itself. To put it more bluntly: If someone who actually has HIV, is happy and healthy, and you are not happy because of your fear, then of what are you afraid, exactly?

An irrational fear of a snake is something that affects a number of individuals.   It is considered irrational if there is no chance, or very little, of anything bad coming from your fear. You said that you don't fear being harmed so what else is there to fear?  Is it possible that there was an idea or religion in your life that used a serpent to portray evil?  At the end of your day think of the healthy fears you have money, family, work, health. Then think about the fears that are considered "irrational". What is more likely to happen; a downturn in the economy or a snake running for president? I grew up around Rattlesnakes and yes, you need to fear them when you are invading their environment. No do you stay up at night thinking that the snakes have nothing better to do than slither into your bed and nibble your toes.  I respect spiders and all of the flies that they eat.  I do not have a problem with them until I know that there is one on me and I cannot see it.  That fear comes from experience; I have accidentally leaned up against a spider trapping him and leaving no option but to bite.
