Is 120 Bpm For A 14 Year Old Bad

Is 112-120 BPM (Heart rate normal for a 15 year old?

During rest, the normal pulse rate of a person is 60 to 100 beats per minute. Since your pulse rate exceeds normal rate, you should consult a cardiologist.

I am 15 years old with a 55 bpm resting heart rate. Is that bad?

Nah that's fine. A heart rate of 55 means your heart is in good condition. If you weren't physically fit, then it would be a problem. A heart rate in a inactive person should not be below 60. People who are fit, should not have a heart rate below 40, unless you are an extreme fitness freak. I am 15 and my heart likes the 40s. I thought at one point I caught it at 38. That worried me because a heart rate should NOT be that low. it's only when you have a heart rate BELOW 40 that you should see a doctor. But it's 55 so your heart is good. you stated that you go to the gym so it's not a problem. Don't be worried, its normal. Although I am 15 and I cannot medically diagnose, cardiology is my dream. I have read enough to know that a fit person can have that low of a heart rate so….stay fit! :)

What's a normal heart bpm for a 15 year old boy?

Well a normal Rhr( resting heart rate) would be 60–100 bpm however athletes go as low as 40 bpm. But if you do 220 - your age (15) = 205 then you get the aerobic and anaerobic thresholds. You will get an aerobic hr of 123–164. This means when doing sports while breathing for example jogging you should have a hr of 123–164bpm. You will also get an anaerobic hr of 144–185 bpm meaning when doing exercise without breathing for example 100m sprint you should have a hr of 144–185 bpm

I'm 28 years old, if my resting heart rate is about 130-140 bpm, am I losing weight by doing nothing?

I'm currently taking Phentermine (by prescription) for weight loss. I've been on it for about 3 weeks now and have lost about 14 lbs... (still have about 40 to go).

The Phentermine is causing an increased resting heart rate, about 130-140 bpm. Would that be causing me to burn more calories and lose weight by basically doing nothing?

I workout DAILY... walk/jog at 5 minute intervals for 30 minutes. I notice after about 1 minute jogging, my heart rate reaches about 200 bpm and several times I've noticed a slight headache during my workouts.

In turn, when I walk EXTREMELY SLOW on the treadmill, my heart rate is increased and holds stready at the target rate for cardio (85%). Should I just do this? It sure doesn't seem like a workout and I really don't even break a sweat after 30 minutes at that rate.

Please help! If Phentermine isn't really helping me lose weight, I'd rather stop using it. I don't really have a problem with food or overeating.

Is a 140+ heart rate really that bad?

Baby Girl, you might want to see a physician about your B/P. 140/90 seems a little high for your age, and especially if you were relaxed. Was it taken while relaxed or after you were exercising? Big factor. Note: Top number is you Systolic reading, and the bottom number is you diastolic reading. See your doctor, Babe. Better to be safe than sorry.

Is it bad for a 14-year-old to have 120 beats per minute with heartbeats?

It depends on what the 14 year-old is doing. If he’s running a 100-meter dash, 120 bpm is reasonable. If he’s resting in bed, on his back, there is cause for concern. His condition would be verging on tachycardia.

Is ~55 BPM an okay heart rate for a 14-year-old (teen) boy at rest?

Hi Keegan, I believe typical heart rate for a teenager at rest is about 50 to 90 beats per minute. 55 falls within that range of normal. Of course everyone is different so that can vary a bit. If there are ever any unusual feelings when at rest, such as chest pain or pressure, or a feeling the heart is racing, or shortness of breath you would need to visit the family doctor. What can make a heart rate go up significantly is too much caffeine and/or too much sugar. Teens need to be extremely cautious with "energy drinks" as there have unfortunately been some very serious reactions to them. A few of them included fatalities. So... eat right, exercise, get good sleep, drink a lot of pure water & you should be a healthy, happy teen!

My resting heart rate is 120 bpm?

That is a pretty high resting HR. Normal (resting) Sinus Rhythm with non-athletes ranges between 60-100, and Normal (exercise, fear etc.) Sinus Tachycardia between 100-160 possibly 200. A high resting HR is usually a sign of the following:

- A too low blood pressure. The heart needs to pump faster to pump enough blood to the bloodstream.

- A too high blood pressure, the heart needs to beat faster to get the blood through the pressure in the arteries.

- An arrhythmia, possibly Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia. An arrhythmia happens when the heart's electrical system dysfunctions causing an irregular heartbeat. Many people think that the heart can't beat without the brains, but usually when not stimulated by the brains in conditions like brain death, the heart goes to a resting rate of 120 bpm-age, for an example 120-20=100 bpm, or in your case 120-14=108 bpm.

- Overdose of caffeine or other stimulators which possibly increase your heart rate.

- Anxiety and other physological conditions
Etc.

You should go visit a doctor about it. An ECG and blood pressure tests would be good to ensure the electrical activity of the heart is normal and blood pressure is normal too.

Is 40 a healthy heart rate for a 17 year old girl?

Yes, heart rates are NORMALLY from 60-100. Please know this is only a guideline. Plenty of people can range higher or lower and it's totally normal for them. For example, Lance Armstrong's heart rate is 32. For most people, that would be dangerously low. For him, it's totally normal. If you feel fine, then it's probably just normal for you. If you're concerned, ask your doctor.

However, I would recheck it because it is abnormal for a teenager to have a heart rate of 40. So in my opinion, I think there was some sort of error while taking it. How did you take it?
