Can a 19 year old be in high school?
Absolutely.My cousins (set of triplets) were 19 when they graduated with me because they were born a tad late to be in the year before mine so they graduated at 19 and they were the third oldest kids in the grade.Students also get held back which means they will be 19 when they graduate (unless they skip a grade to make it up). One of my friends was almost 20 because he was held back a year and missed the cutoff date for the year ahead of the one that graduated before me.Some people’s parents keep them home one extra year.Some people transfer in at the wrong time and get held back a year because of it.All of these are causes to someone being 19 and in high school.
Can a 19 year old go back to high school?
I was homeschooled from 10th grade and up due to personal reasons, but around 11th grade, we had some family issues and the homeschooling was just pushed aside and forgotten about. I was supposed to have graduated in 2013 so it's been awhile, and I went to get my GED, but I passed all of them but math. Math has forever been my worst subject, I suck at it, I don't care for it, and I'll NEVER pass it. I've failed the math GED at least 7 times, and it got to the point where I had to wait several months before I could take it again, but I had said screw that and just dropped it all, so now if I went to take my GED, I think I'd have to take them all again. Honestly, there will be world peace before I come close to passing the math one. So now I'm considering just taking the easy way. I'm 19 and want to go back to high school, where i can just sit through 8 months of crap, get the diploma, and be done. I had an IEP and was in special Ed in school, and I know some places let you go back til your 21 if you were, which could possibly work since I'd be going back NEXT fall(Fall 2016) and would be graduating June 2017 right before my 21st birthday, so.....yeah Any advice would be nice. There used to be a big difference between a GED and diploma, but not so much anymore. I personally would finish high school and get a real diploma, but that's just me. Just remember that your GED is going to be a topic of discussion in every job interview. They may want to know why you didn't get your diploma.
Is 19 old to finish high-school?
I was 19 and 17 days when I finished… but that's because I finished early and left in January instead of May. I came from Brazil and the school year there starts in January and goes til December. So, when I got to the U.S. they held me in 9th grade from February til June, and then when the new school year started they put me in 9th grade again. I passed every single class, never had to repeat anything. All my friends did get to graduate when they were 17…18, I'm the oldest one of our group. I never saw anything weird about graduating when I was older, I mean, it wasn't my fault, so I didn't care.

I dropped out of high school when I was fifteen or sixteen, in the ending of my sophomore year. That was two or three years ago. Can I go back and get my diploma? I'm a little worried to be around people younger than me. Will I look like a loser who will finish high school at 21 years old?
Is graduating from high school at 19 too old ?
Not at all. Both my son and daughter were and will be almost 19 when they graduated. They were both born in September. The cutoff date for starting school in first grade was Aug 31, so they just missed it and were with days of being 7 years old when they started. No big deal at all and they both have done well and the oldest is in college now. Then main thing is you graduate, it doesn't matter if you are 100 years old. Just graduate and don't rush it.

Many colleges offer a High School Diploma as a degree choice. This would save you the embarrassment of feeling too old to go back to high school. I would look into either physically going to the college of your choice or taking online classes through that college.

Seriously DON’T WORRY. There's absolutely nothing wrong with finishing high school at 19. If you look at it from an international perspective, you’re more than in the correct age bracket and doing great. In Bermuda (where I’m from), if you’re born in 2001, you will graduate high school in 2019 - so about half the students (roughly, of course) will be 17 and the other half 18. The USA and the UK have slightly different cut off dates (as a general rule, September 1st and August 1st, respectively), putting almost all but a small percentage (myself included, I’ll still be 17) graduating at age 18.Going to an international school has taught me lots of things, but one of the first things that it taught me was that different countries have very different ways of education. Some schools have 5 years of high school. Every country has different cut off dates dictating what year of school you’re in based on your birthday because no one can agree. Some people stay back. Some people skip grades. Some people take gap years. Some people finish high school, go to college, drop out, and go back to high school.Don’t beat yourself up over finishing high school at 19. Or 16. Or 21. Or any age really. You just have to take the opportunities you’ve been given and make the best of them.
