Is 21 Years Old Late To Finish A Bachelor Degree

Is 21 years old late to finish a bachelor degree?

By this time almost all my friends are finishing or already finished their bachelor degree. I didn't make good use of my time and in January I will be starting what it is my 2nd year in business administration. What are your thoughts. I know that never is to late, but I just feel ashamed with my self because I wasn't as mature as I am know. I would be like 24 years old by the time I finish.

Is 20 years old too young to have a bachelor's degree?

Is 20 years old too young to have a bachelor's degree?Getting a bachelor’s at 20 is or was not that unusual in the US. It depends on what the minimum age for starting first grade is / was and whether a school system allows double promotions. I have a good friend who began university at age 16, so was done by age 20, and began teaching grammar school. There are also some bachelor’s programs in the US where you go straight through for three years, no summers off, so graduate a year early.I think a key question you need to ask yourself is whether 20 will be too young to begin the next stage of your career or education? There is no generic answer to that. But say you wanted to major in engineering? Then just continue for your master’s degree straight off, and then enter the professional workforce at age 21 or 22.

Is it too late to enter for a bachelor's degree at 20 years old?

No, because education can be acquired at any stage of your life. One real problem is the money you may have lost by not graduating earlier with a BA degree and receiving an appropriate salary for future tax and retirement purposes.Furthermore, when you attend college you will notice people of different ages around you — especially if you go to a community college or big university. So the experience will not be too jarring. My real question to you is what will you do when you reach college? Will you reach out to your fellow collegiate colleagues, will your preserve your pride and not hate yourself and fellow kin amongst this new environment, and will you pay-it-forward once you are finished?

Is finishing your Bachelors degree at age 26 too old?

I've always wanted to go to my dream art school to major in animation and gaming. Unfortuanately my parents couldn't help me with school so I ended up going to community college instead. I was pretty devastated but got my associates in arts at the community college. Now I'm 21 and I can actually afford going to the art school that I'v always wanted to go to. The only problem is that since it's a private art school; none of the classes that I took at the community college transferred. I would have to start all over and prob not get my degree until I'm 26. Is it worth me starting over or is 26 too old to barely be finishing college?

Is 27 too old to graduate from college with a bachelors degree?

No, because there really is no age that is too old. I graduated with some people that were in their 60's and had just earned their (first) Bachelor Degree. Most were doing it just to be able to say, "Look what I accomplished." Some were actually planning to use that degree to continue working in a new field. You'll be 27 and providing your health allows it, you will have many years of work ahead of you. If you want the potential to be earning more money at 27 than you are now, than you should earn a BA/BS at 27. Nobody, including employers, really care how old you are when you earn it, just that you do in fact earn it.

Is it worth it to complete a bachelor’s degree at the age of 40 years old?

I think so. I completed my Bachelors degree at 45 because I was tired of being shut out of jobs at Fortune 500 companies simply because I couldn’t get past the HR screen that “required” a degree. On top of this I had 15 years of consulting experience and often worked in these companies side by side with their own people. I got a few offers to come work in house for these firms, but they were quickly dropped when they found out I didn’t have a degree. I might have been able to get an exception from a manager if the job description said “degree or equivalent experience”, but what determines “equivalent experience” is subjective and in my experience 9/10 times you’ll lose to another candidate that has a degree. As you get older, things will just get harder. Age discrimination in the workforce is real, especially after 50. I’m currently being forced out of the Fortune 50 tech company I’ve been at for the past 6 years, and at least with a degree I have a chance of applying at other companies for a decent salary. With so many applications being scanned/screened by a computer, hiring managers may never even get to see your resume if your missing the degree requirement. You could face a major career setback and cut in pay if you lose your current job.Going back to school at +40 was tough, but with online classes as well as evening/weekend programs it’s easier than ever. My two cents is avoid the major “online only” or for profit Universities and attend one of the local State Universities in your area. I saved a lot of money by completing all the general education degree requirements at a local community college and then transferring those credits to a State University. If your employer offers tuition reimbursement and you go part time, you should be able to get most of it paid in full with no debt.Hope this was helpful.

Is graduating with Bachelor’s degree at age 26 late?

Non-traditional? Yes. Late? No. I burned out on college after a year and a half (after skipping a grade and getting a National Merit Scholarship).  My grades were slipping fast, and I didn't want to waste any more of my parents' money. I knew that if I actually failed out, I'd never go back. Skip ahead 20 years - I had recovered from the original stress, and was able to look at it objectively.  I completely changed tracks, from Arts to Sciences, and enrolled in a non-traditional degree program. Some of my 20-year-old credits applied. At the age of 40, I was awarded a Bachelors degree. My GPA the first time around was a low "C". My GPA the second time around, using my own money and on a different track, was a high "A" - Dean's list, some semesters.  A few years later, I earned my Masters degree.Keep working on developing yourself and never stop learning, but there are many definitions of learning, and most of it takes place outside of the classroom. One last thing - please don't use the fact of your non-traditional path as one more club to beat yourself with.  Learn from where you've been, make peace with yourself, and move forward.

In Germany, is it considered old / late to start a bachelor's degree at 22 years of age?

Not really.Well, most students will start with University right after school when they are 18/19 years old.But there are also those who go abroad for a year, volunteer for a social cause, serve in the military, start professional training. All of them if they later decide to go to university will be some years older. That is not really an issue. There might be some relatives who will nag you about when you think you will finish your studies. But apart from that, universities don’t care, professors, TAs don’t care and your fellow students don’t care as well.
