Is 32mb Of Dedicated Video Ram Bad For Gaming

How can I increase my dedicated video memory of graphics card?

Dedicated video memory means that its a graphics memory available along with the graphics chip. (you cant change this, as its hardware included)Shared video memory is the memory that the graphics chip can access from the system RAM, thereby reducing available system RAM.Also note that shared memory is not as fast as dedicated graphics memory. If you want you can change your shared memory in bios settings like shown. I would also like to add something more by saying that Total Available Graphics Memory is a combination of all memory available for graphics. The system may not actually be using all of this memory, but it is available when requested. When or if the dedicated runs out, which it rarely does, possibly only on high res and ultra texture settings, then it can use part of your system's shared memory from the 16 GB sticks.

Why is my laptop showing 128MB dedicated memory instead of 2GB?

There may be two possibiliies:Your laptop may be having integrated graphics with a dynamic configuraion. i.e. It will have a minimum threshold (128MB) of graphics memory that will increase upto 2GB when required. Most of the intel integrated graphics have this enabled. You can change this from BIOS configuration but its not recommended. In case of integrated graphics, the graphic memory is subtracted (reserved) from the RAM and reserving more graphics memory than required would be a waste of resources. Hence the recommended dynamic configuration.Your laptop has dedicated graphics card but has fallen back on the integrated processor graphics due to “Power saving” mode as mentioned in the other answer or due to missing graphic card drivers for the dedicated card or the place/utility you are using to check is wrong. :)Hope this helps! Either ways worry about it only if you have performance issues.

Do I need a dedicated video card if I don't play video games?

This depends. If you perform tasks that are benefitted by large levels of parallel processing, a GPU definitely helps. Eg. Video editing. However, if it's just programming and music and documents and spreadsheets, an IGP is more than enough.Cheers

Is 32mb of dedicated video ram bad for gaming?

Its not only bad. Its atrocious. You'd be better with an integrated graphics card ( run by processor).
SAdly, most laptops don't support GPU upgrades, so you should get another laptop or build/buy a desktop if you want to play games.

What is the difference between dedicated graphics and shared graphics?

All of the answers here are pretty bang on so I'll keep it short:The key is in the names. Dedicated graphics refers to a separate graphics card attached to your system's motherboard. It is like a mini-board in itself. Just as your system has a CPU, some RAM, a CPU fan and a board that connects these components, so too does your dedicated graphics card has a board that has a GPU (the equivalent of a CPU), some graphics memory (the equivalent of RAM, known as VRAM), a GPU fan with all of these interconnected on its own board. This board then fits on the larger motherboard through a slot meant for such purposes.Integrated graphics on the other hand refers to a graphics system that is on the motherboard itself. It may have its own CPU but not its own RAM; it shares its RAM with the system RAM. Thus, if your system has 4 GB of RAM, your integrated graphics card is going to use its memory from this 4 GB.As a comparison, consider systems with the following specifications:System 1System RAM: 4 GBGraphics Card Type: DedicatedGraphics Card RAM: 2 GBSystem 2System RAM: 4 GBGraphics Card Type: IntegratedGraphics Card RAM: 2 GBIn the second system, the 4 GB of RAM will be used by both the system and the video card. The video card doesn't have separate 2 GB; it will be able to use 2 GB out of the 4 GB of system RAM available. On the other hand, in the first solution, the system has a video card with its own 2 GB of RAM in addition to the 4 GB of RAM. The total RAM is thus 6 GB (although this is an incorrect way of looking at it since neither the system can use the graphics RAM nor the graphics card can use the system RAM but you get the point). Also, generally, only one of the graphics systems are active at a time. Thus, you can either have the integrated graphics solution (2 GB) or the dedicated card (1 GB) running an application at a time but not both at the same time. Your total memory thus depends on the type of solution your application is using.

Will the nvidia shield lag if I have a bad computer?

My computer is perfect in most areas except for the dedicated video RAM
I only have 32Mb of dedicated video RAM and i can't increase it since i have windows 8.1
so what i want to know is if I buy the nvidia SHIELD and try to stream from my computer will it lag on the SHIELD.

Gma 4500mhd with dedicted 32mb?

High end games won't play on that at all. Consider shared memory as "useless" for gaming.
Only the dedicated video memory counts, so you can maybe play games that need only 32MB dedicated memory or less (not too many...)

Where to buy gaming computer? What brand? Plz include links?

I am looking to buy a computer, not just for gaming, but for multi(^7) tasking. I strongly like HP, and please do not advertise anything for Dell, or I will have to hate you forever. Anyway, I need to buy a computer with at least 6 GB RAM, 1 TB hard drive, wifi (internal or external), and graphics/audio cards that are top of the line. I do not need a mouse, a keyboard, a monitor, or anything else with it, so please no bundles.
Here's the catch. I don't want to spend $2000.

P.S: I HATE MACS!!! (None of the programs I like are written for Macs, so no Mac defenders, thank you. I respect Macintosh, but I strongly believe they are not the computers for me).

P.P.S: I almost abuse computers in the amount of installing, uninstalling, multitasking, scanning, playing, browsing, rendering (I am a 3D artist), etc. I do to them. I have gone through so many returned computers because they don't have the performance I need. Please make it a desktop, not an UBER-THIN SPACE SAVING BLAHBLAH..

Thanks in advance.

Give me the list of games that works on 4GB RAM with a default 1GB Intel HD graphics card with 64 MB dedicated memory?

Your systems specs are ancient! Well, here are some which you can still play on that PC:1. Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone: An old game released in about 2000, it features you as Harry Potter, embarking on many missions around Hogwarts with Hermoine and Ron. Great graphics, puzzle solving levels and good environment design.2. F.E.A.R: Disclaimer-It’s a scary horror game, and is not for the faint-hearted. I used to play it in the daytime as I was scared, mainly by the titular ghost-a small girl called Alma. It is a first person shooter where you play as an agent who is sent to haunted locations to complete missions and kill bad guys (and a lot of ghosts). A must play game!3. Need For Speed Underground 2: The last good Need For Speed game that your PC can run, for all other require dedicated graphics card. A nice story line, great graphics and extreme car customization are the highlights of this hugely popular racing game. Make sure to try this game at least once.4. Drakan-Order of Flame: I like this game a lot, for it has an amazing story line and great game play. You start out as a female character, who has to complete missions in a large variety of levels while solving puzzles on the way and fighting trolls and monsters. And yeah, you also get to ride and control your pet dragon! How cool is that?5. Project IGI 2-Covert Strike: If by any chance you are unable to run this game, download Project IGI-I’m Going In (the 1st part of the game, this one is the sequel). You play as a British spy who infiltrates a large number of enemy bases. You are provided a large number of guns, amazing mission environments and vast level designs. A must play for any gamer.
