Is 45 Minutes On The Elliptical Everyday Going To Help Me Lose Weight

Will 20 minutes per day on an elliptical lose weight?

Its really all about how much time you have, and how fast you want to see results. I workout on the treadmill or elliptical for about 90-100 minutes about 5 days a week, because I have time for it and enjoy doing it. 20 minutes is good, but moving up a little is never a bad thing. I understand you can get burned out pretty quick though, so try to change it up with a few runs/walks here and there. (also riding a bike around is great too). Then, I use toning and strength/core exercises I received from my old personal trainer. It depends on how much equipment you have, but toning a strength is vital to fat burning as well as cardio. After you tone your body, your body burns calories throughout your day, (which is good if you don't want to be on the elliptical all day). Subscribing to a women's health magazine, like Shape or Fitness is great, because they give you helpful ways to eat right, and toning exercises in every issue. If you don't want to do that, you can check out Shape.com for all kinds of helpful tips, tricks, and recipes. In order to the the best results, when training hard, and working out more than one day in a row, strength train each body part every other day, EXCEPT for abs, which you can do everyday. Doing so, gives torn muscles time to heal and repair themselves, while also toning you. Good luck!

Will the elliptical help me lose weight?

Of course! When I started my weight loss @ 300lbs I would hit the olliptical everyday until I lost a good 40lbs from just that machine I moved on to running. I recommend it to anyone looking to lose weight. IMHO I feel that its hard to tire yourself out on a olliptical compared to any other machine that way if your out of shape you can burn more calories and the diet you are using is absolutely great.

If I do 10 minute elliptical runs a day and 40 minute weight training 5 times a week how fast will I see results?

Here is how to optimize your training for the fastest results:1. Cardio is optional, weight training is required. When you lift weights, do compound exercises like deadlifts, squats, presses, rows, and pull-ups. Do these movements with heavy weights and 5-10 reps per set. Heavy is the most important part. 2. When doing cardio, don't bother with keeping your heart rate at 120 for 30 minutes, blah, blah, blah. Go hard for a short amount of time. Since you're on the elliptical, do your 10 minutes, but go as hard as you can for 1 minute then take a slow minute. Repeat 4 more times. Learn to use kettlebells if possible, they offer the best cardio besides running, swimming, and lifting a 100lb sandbag for distance. 3. You need to eat well. You can't just count calories. If you have questions on why just cutting calories will not help, feel free to ask me. For best results, eliminate excessive carbs like wheat, oatmeal, sugar, and excessive fruit consumption. Eat primarily vegetables (corn and potatoes do not count) and meat. If you can do that, expect to see results quickly. 4. Sleep 8 hours per night minimum. Be asleep 6 days of the week by 10:30PM for best results. The 7th day is your night 'off' to get wild and do whatever. 5. Manage your stress. Pick your number one biggest stress, make a plan to manage it, and follow that plan. Only work on one stress at a time. Stress can ruin a fat loss attempt. Hope that helps!Nate

How many miles to lose weight on an elliptical?

I am a runner and although I would rather run outside in the park the weather doesn't always allow me to do that. I run on my elliptical for approximately 45 minutes for 3 miles.

It isn't necessarily how far you run because you can increase the resistance on your elliptical and run for less time and less miles.

One thing I want to point out is that just because you are running doesn't mean that you will loose weight. I run every day and I don't loose weight ----I gain muscle and it shows.

Also, do what your body can handle everyone is different!!! There isn't a particular exercise schedule that you should follow. Do what you can without harming your body.

How long should a person run on an elliptical every day to lose weight?

If you are talking about a quality elliptical machine such as they are likely to have at a gym, they almost all will allow a certain amount of customizable programming. This allows you to enter your weight and even the kind of workout you want (hills, constant, random hills, etc.) The machine will keep a real-time tally and display your calories burned, time on the machine, etc. This allows you to meet a self-defined target for time or calories.Or, there are a number of sites around the web that will give estimates for the standard resistance flat burn rate.In any case, health authorities suggest a minimum of one-half hour of vigorous workout nearly every day and a better target would be closer to a full hour workout daily. Many people who exercise daily will allocate an hour for their workout.Weight loss will happen if you spend as little as 10 min. on the machine but the fat loss will not be much. To lose weight, you must restrict calorie intake as well as exercise. Both are about equally effective. Exercise without watching your diet can be completely useless.

Will using an elliptical 3 times a week help me lose weight?

15 lbs in 3 months is definitely doable.

To lose weight you need to burn more than you consume. You should look into the USDA's SuperTracker system. It'll tell you how many calories you should eat to reach your goals.

Usually it's recommended 150 minutes/week of moderate exercise to maintain weight and 300 of moderate exercise to lose weight. Less time as the intensity goes up. But exercising is better than no exercising.

If it's possible, you should look into adding weight training. It'll help burn more calories if you combine it with your cardio.

Can i lose weight by exercising on the elliptical?

1. Cardio machines always overestimate the calories burned. Don't go by that, go by either a heart rate monitor or online estimates instead.

2. 30 min is only enough to maintain, if you want to lose weight, you'll have to go with 45-60 minutes instead.

3. It's better to do intervals (increase the resistance) than to go at steady state.

4. Use the arm bars. It'll force you to work your chest (when you focus on pushing them) and back (when you focus on pulling in). It'll also work your core since you're forcing yourself to stabilize.

5. Make them more effective: maintain strides per minute, and keep your heels down, don't let them raise. And don't lean on the machine. Don't read while on the elliptical. If you can read, you're not pushing yourself hard enough.

6. You'll need to also incorporate resistance training into your workout to see faster results. Squats, lunges, crunches, deadlifts, pushups, reverse pushups (aka 2 chairs and a broom, pull yourself up to work your back), and chair dips will make your results soooo much faster. You can do all these without buying equipment (for the deadlifts, place some books in a box and lift that). You don't get to choose where you gain or lose fat, so by working all your muscles, you're by that much increasing your fat loss. Do 3 sets of 8-15 every other day.

7. You'll need to do cross training. You don't want to develop overuse injuries. One easy alternative is jump roping with your invisible jumprope. Other alternative are to do circuits of burpees, mountain climbers, fast feet, ski jumps, high knees, and leap frogs. 1 min each, rest for 20 seconds between exercises, and for 2 minutes between sets. Repeat the set 2 more times.

8. Don't forget about eating clean. You can't outrun a bad diet. You should also not deprive yourself, so have a cheat item twice a week.

9. Stay well hydrated, and good luck!

Burn 800 calories on elliptical hour a day losing weight?

It's fine as long as your getting enough calories for the rest of the day.

google: "Basal metabolic rate" for this info.

You have to condition your body to understand that you will now be working harder -- but also providing enough energy (food). If you don't do the latter.. your body will reserve, and reduce your ability to make your workouts as progressive as they could be. It's selfish that way.

10 lbs by xmas, I would say yes. Add in some weight training too. Weight training will burn calories for a longer period then cardio alone.

Is it okay for me to burn 750 calories everyday on a elliptical machine?

When I'm in competition mode and I'm smashing out volume (powerlifting), I would probably hit 2200 calories. That's 4 sessions of 2-2.5 hours of weights, a cardio session and a recovery session. If you are burning 750 calories on your machine, this would take hours. My advice, and this is the same I gave to hundreds of clients and athletes I have trained and coached. 'The easiest way to burn 400 calories is to not them in the first place' So cut down your calorie intake and try some other higher intensity training. But most of all, see your doctor before you do anything.
