Is 60 Too Old For A Career Change

Do you think age 33 is too old for a career change?

I am in the Title insurance business and have been thinking of a career change that would require me to go to medical school. (Optometry) The problem is that I am 33 years old. Do you think this is too old to go back to school for something as difficult as Optometry school?

Am i too old to change my career in SAP HR?

I'm not sure if you want to exit your HR/SAP career or enter it. If you want to enter it, I am almost 50 and trying to return to my old IT career in programming after an interlude as a teacher. I would kill to be your age! Your previous experience in programming will help. A BS in computer science helps even more, most (but not all) programming jobs require one. Of course any SAP certifications you can get would help too. I considered SAP training but the classes offered by them are fairly expensive. Check out their web site and also look into SAP partners, sometimes they offer training. Join any computer societies in your area (IEEE, ACM) and look at all the computer SIG (special interest group) websites like the SAP oriented "www.asug.com" and ask current SAP programmers how to proceed. If you enjoyed programming before, go for it.

Is 35 too old to go back to school for a career change?

I'm 43 and have been back in school for 3 years now working toward a bachelor's. I LOVE it!!! It is so fun having friends from 18 to their 60s in one setting. Also, it is a brave thing to do, showing you have the ability to try new things and set challenges for yourself and that alone will speak volumes to future employers.

Am I too old to pursue a change in career to become a RN at the age of 40?

I began the prerequisites for nursing school at age 48, and graduated with a MSN-FNP at age 53. Was it a breeze? Not on your life. Did I relate to my classmates? Since they ranged in age from 18 to 57, I found no issue in gaining a support network, and was pleasantly surprised how much in common we all had across numerous genres of life other than nursing. Was finding a job simple or easy? Hell no! But it wasn't for any other new nursing graduate either. Did I find a job and can I be a good nurse? Absolutely. I did, I can, and I am. And you can too. Believe in yourself. Hopefully you have, and have had, positive people with positive reinforcement in your life. But even if you have had only adversity, even if it means having only the determination to prove wrong anyone and everyone who has hindered your self esteem and tried to hold you back, believe in yourself! Good luck!
