Is 9.50 An Hour Good For A High School Student

What's the best paying job a 19 year old can get with just a high school diploma?

Explore railroad companies. You may have to work outdoors in all kinds of weather and travel with the trains (usually freight) but the pay is exceptional and the advancement opportunities are there.A job that allows you to at least somewhat control/increase your income:Warehouse work near me pays about $14 an hour, which would make it tough to live independently even with 40 hour s a week. But if you are willing to work overtime and the company allows it, you can tack on an additional 10–20 hours at 21 per hour.Being a server at a restaurant allows you to earn tips. You want to work somewhere busy. Again, because the restaurant is paying you substantially less than minimum wage, they are usually pretty open to overtime. Also, as long as the last two hours of business are not a ghost town, opt to close instead of getting off earlier. There are fewer servers on duty so you continue to get tables, so you are still earning money. Furthermore, if it is allowed (or you can do it off the managers’ radar) getting a few bucks from several co-workers for doing their “side work” can significantly increase your take for the night.3. A job that will help you learn soft skills:For example, you CAN learn a lot in restaurants, like teamwork, multi-tasking, time management, efficiency, customer service, sales/promotional techniques, training others, and a variety of business principles.4. A job that interests you or offers you opportunities that might be difficult to do later in life:Working at a resort, national park, tourist attraction (think zipline, whitewater raft guide etc.) cruise ship or as a tour guide. This means you may be travelling or changing locations seasonally, might be living in a bunk-house or cabin etc., but you will be away from home, learning independence, and maybe doing something fun. These are things that may be more difficult to do if you have a spouse, kids and a house.

9.50 an hour good for high school student?

Yes.

What is a typical day of high school like?

Kay, so, every day your schedule changes. The main classes that most schools have are ELA (English Language Arts), Social Studies, Math, Science, P.E., which most people hate. Make your book have a mean Phys. Ed teacher because that's what most of them are like. Sports occur after school, as well as clubs, like yearbook club, etc. Often there's an X Period, or Study Hall, where you can either study, but some people play instruments and stuff. I take chorus during that period. The testing all depends on the teacher. Some teachers give tests every Friday(I hate them!), some every Wednesday, etc., but some only give tests when the class has completed an entire unit. Usually there's a quiz before the final test, and often a study session after school if the teacher finds that students are having trouble.

Here's a few of the public schools in my area that you might want to check out.

Those are all middle and high schools, although I think Kennedy and Davis are Elementary.

Now, I have a question for you. What's it like to be home schooled? Do you have Physical Education and all that? Also, email me any more questions and your answer at cinderella161danielle@gmail.com. Please don't email my Yahoo one. I never check it.

Do teachers, teachers aide, or school counselors make good money?

For clarification, in the US, you need a minimum of a Bachelor's degree (4 years) to teach. Many states now require a Master's degree (2+ years beyond the Bachelor's). Teachers average $33,000 per year starting out. It very much depends on the state you live in and the district you apply to. Don't assume that cities will pay you more than a rural area. I live in a rural area and the teachers here have a starting salary $5000 per year higher than the 2 nearby cities. Even NYC (which has a VERY high cost of living) has a starting salary of only $45,000 per year. NOONE gets into teaching for the money.

To become a school counselor, you must have a degree/license in Counseling - which is a minimum of a Master's degree (BA in Psychology plus a Master's in School Psychology or the like). You can make between $40-60K per year.

To become a teacher's aide, you generally need 2 years of college experience or you need to pass what is called a "ParaPro Assessment". This is generally a position that pays just above minimum wage somewhere in the range of $9-9.50 per hour. However, you have fewer responsibilities, fewer working hours and no student loans to pay off. It's a good way to get your foot in the door and gain experience to see if you would enjoy teaching. Some people do turn this into a career.

If you want to work with infants-prek, then you need a degree in Early Childhood Education (either Associate's or Bachelor's depending on your state). The pay is about $8-10 per hour here. You can actually make more money by opening your own daycare center if you rent a large enough home or space to accommodate the children. You would have to check your state's laws and guidelines before doing this though.

If you have a passion for teaching, then go for it. Just know that sometimes you do have to choose between working a job for the love of it or working a job that will make you lots of money.

Is 9.50 an hour a good salary for a college graduate?

That's a terrible salary for a college graduate. I was making more than that during short internships freshman year.

But you studied history. Didn't you know when you started that it's usually a dead-end major? Unless you are willing to travel long distances for a teaching job, there's really not much you can do with it.

The fact that you hold a college degree is all anyone will care about, and even that won't help you much. All I can say is, if you have to take a job that doesn't pay well, find one you enjoy that will have long-term benefits/raises so you won't be stuck at 9.50 forever.

What is a typical day at school for a child in Singapore?

This is a typical day for me.5.55am: Wake up, head straight to the shower, and start brushing teeth while simultaneously showering.6.09am: Sit on bed after dressing up. Prepare for Subuh prayers (I am a Chinese Muslim. Odd, isn't it?).6.21am: Take a hot drink. Chat with Father.6.31am: Leave home. Get in car.6.52am: Arrive school. Do work while waiting for Morning Assembly to start.7.37am: Morning Assembly8.10am: Lessons begin.2.15pm: Head to MRT (train) station to go home.3pm: Arrive home. Eat lunch.3pm-4.15pm: FreeTime.4.15pm-6pm: Work.6pm-6.45pm: Dinner.6.45–7pm: Shower again.7pm-8pm: More work.8pm-9pm: FreeTime9pm-9.45pm: Get ready for the next day. (Uniform, Books etc. )9.50pm: Sleep.Repeat everyday.Post-Script: I don't get how some students can go to school without showering. It's kinda gross. It makes me feel crusty when I don't shower.I'm also a stickler for time and everything here is 100% real, even the exact durations.

I just got a C+ in middle school in my report card. Is it a bad grade?

In the grand scheme of things: No.For the most part, what you do in middle school will really have no influence on what college you get into. Middle school will not affect your admission into your choice of college in the same way that high school will. However, the C+ may affect your possibility of entering your choice of high school, if there is a specific high school you are looking to get into and apply for.Overall, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Your high school grades will have a much more significant bearing in the end. Of course, that doesn’t mean to slack off in middle school and get C’s in all your classes. Still, work hard and solidify your study habits now and learn to adjust them when needed if the class requires a different method. In all probability, it is highly unlikely that you will be caring about your middle school grades by the time you’re in college. I don’t.Extra info: Unless you did something truly unique and amazing in middle school, colleges will probably not care about your performance at all.

I make $9 and hour. I work 25 hours a week. How much will I have made in 2 weeks after taxes? I'm also 17 and this is my first job.

Depending where you live…$9 x 25 hrs = $225.00…you will gross $ 225.00. Your net will vary only your local taxes, but a rule of thumb is to expect approximately 33% to be withheld in taxes. Again, it does vary on your local taxes and also the number of exemptions that you claim on your W-2.So, based on the average deductions…$225.00 x 33% = $ 74.25. Expect to have $74.25 to be withheld from your paycheck for taxes (Fed, State, FICA, SSI), and net a big huge paycheck of $ 150.75.***************************************************Sure beats my first job….40 hours a week at $2.90/hr., as a lifeguard, in 1979!

I have 9 hours of college credit..what does that mean?

It means that, provided the credit will transfer to the school of your choice (depends on how it was earned, be sure to check with the school.) Assuming all of your credits are accepted, consider that most colleges require between 13-15 credit hours per semester to graduate on time. So it is a little less than one semester you have under your belt.

BUT it can be really helpful, as some of the classes that you need for "core requirements" or "distribution requirements" can be difficult to get into as they are usually in high demand. I even think that some colleges make it harder to get the core requirements taken care of on purpose in order to milk students out of tuition money. Your 9 credits may not help you graduate a semester early, but they may give you the credits you need to graduate on time and with a little less sweat.

Best of luck to you!
