Is A 64 Gb Hard Drive For A Laptop The Standard Size

Should I buy a laptop with a 500gb hard drive or with 32gb eMMc flash storage?

32GB of bulk memory is extremely constraining, especially considering that, in order to perform one of the big Windows 10 upgrades like the Anniversary Update (Version 1607), you have to be able to free up 8GB of that 32. Many folks find that they cannot.A little over a year ago, I bought an HP Stream 11 for which the specs are similar to the low end version you described. It is actually OK for the activities you describe. Indeed, I have developed a fairly sophisticated Python program on it and which I do run on it. (My version of the Stream 11 laptop even has a touchscreen so I made more of a tablet type of app.) So, yes, you can get by with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of eMMC. (I was, with difficulty, able to free 8GB for the upgrade.)However, because of the portability, I liked using the machine so much that I began to wish I had something which was not so low end. I just recently acquired a refurbished 12.5″ Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga hybrid laptop with much better specs: 8GB RAM, 240GB SSD, and a faster processor. Yes, it makes a difference. The machine is much more responsive. I am very pleased to have made the upgrade. (Based on new prices, the Yoga would have been about 5 times as expensive as the HP Stream 11. I got the refurbished one for about twice the price, and I regard it as much more than twice as good.)Based on my experience, in your case, I would think the better option would be to go with the 4GB of RAM and the 500GB drive. Furthermore, I would also suggest that you should plan on replacing the hard drive with an SSD. Even a 120GB one will probably do; and you can get those for under $50. Using a USB hard drive adapter (less than $20 and well worth having in any case) you can clone the OS onto the SSD. (You need to do this early while the system will still fit on the SSD.) You can then use the 500GB drive in the adapter to do backups. (Or you can do a clean install (after switching out the drive) from a bootable USB flash drive using Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool (free); but do go back to Dell’s support Web site to get the device-specific drivers (but not all of Dell’s crapware).)

What are hard drive sizes?

The price of a hard drive depends greatly on its storage capacity. However, a large disk will not necessarily be better than a small model. Thus, if you do not really need a lot of space, models with a few hundred GB will be just as good. Having several To's available is useful when you install many games, download a lot of files or store a lot of digital memories (photos and videos). In this case, also remember to save your files on a second disk to avoid losing everything. Is 160GB a good hard drive size for gaming?

If you've got enough computer hard drive for the game to fit in then yeah.
The requirements to run WoW is:
* Processor: 800MHz or higher CPU.
* RAM: 256Mb or more.
* Graphics: GeForce 2 or better
* Hard Drive Space: 3Gb or more available.
* DirectX 9.0 or above.

For Call of Duty 5:
*Processor: AMD 64 3200+/Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz or better
*RAM:512MB RAM (XP)/1GB RAM (Vista)
*Graphics: Shader 3.0 or better, 256MB Nvidia
*Hard drive space: 8 GB
*DirectX 0.9 or above.

To check your system stats go to start, click on run and type in dxdiag,if you're on vista, search run on your start search.

What's the standard Xbox 360 hard drive size?

Hard drives for the Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 S are available in the following sizes: 4 GB, 20 GB, 60 GB, 120 GB, 250 GB, and 320 GB .            Currently the maximum size for an external hard drive supported by the Xbox 360 is 32 GB , though users can use two drives for a total of 64 GB. Microsoft is preparing an update that will massively increase the available storage, supporting two hard drives up to 2 TB in size each for a total of 4 TB.         250 was enough for me, but the more the merrier.

Size in GB for a 64MB Flash drive?

64 megabytes is 0.0625 gigabytes
You can use google to do conversions.
Syntax:
# unit(1) to unit(2)
ex. 64 MB to GB

Beware, a lot of times it is easy to be confused by byte conversions. See IEEE standard number 1541.

If you have 64 Megabytes, you should have 64 * 1024 bytes. (1024, i.e. 2^10) However, oftenly when selling drive space, companies will used a base 10 measurement, and multiply by 1000. (1000, i.e. 10^3) Plus, the flash drive probably doesn't even have that much (falling just short of the 1000, using some of that space to organize the files).

So, what you do is go to My Computer (in Windows), and find the drive. Right click the drive, and look at the properties. It will show how much space you have in bytes and megabytes, or gigabytes, if it is big enough.

So... 1 Gigabyte = 1 * 1024 Megabytes = 1024 * 1024 Bytes
However, 2 Gigabyte drive will look like 2,000,000 Bytes

Sorry, but you will need more space to work with.

Just in case you wonder...
Windows will not use 1000 as the conversion, so you can trust the properties data. If it says 64 MB in there, then it is the real deal, and not 0.064 GB.

Also, someone above said that 0.064 is half of a gigabyte, but it is really just a little more than half of a tenth of a gigabyte. In total, you would only have at most 2.0625 GB, instead of 2.5 GB.

Which hard drive is bigger 256mb or 16gb?

Ok man, here's some computer 101...

Bit - 0 or 1 (the smallest unit of computer memory)
Byte - 8 bits
Kilobyte - 1,000 bytes
Megabyte - 1,000 kilobytes
Gigabyte - 1,000 megabytes
Terabytes - 1,000 gigabytes

The 16 gb drive is larger, about 64 times as large.

The solid-state hard drive means:
1) No moving parts
2) Faster seek times
3) Less likely to be damaged from dropping

Thats the facts jack, but one more thing. 256 MB seems like an odd, or at least old hard drive size. Are you sure its 256 of Hard Drive storage, and not 256 MB of Ram? Double check...

What is the difference in storage size from SSD to hard drive?

They have different minimums and maximums as of now. There are SSDs commonly available with capacities as low as 32 GB (though 64 is more common for most main lines). I have not seen a 32 or 64 GB hard drive in a long, long time. I have a few 250 GB laptop hard drives I got for free, all of which were made years ago. Most modern product lines start at 500 GB.The biggest SSDs commonly available are 4 TB. They are crazy expensive. There are technically some experimental or one-off SSDs that are much larger, but they are not commercially available and would be way beyond the price range of any consumer even if they were. Commercially available conventional hard drives top out around 12 TB now, though 1–4 TB is most common in consumer usage. The most common SSD size is 250–500 GB in comparison.Even with recent drops in flash memory pricing, an average capacity modern SSD is still more expensive than an average capacity HDD, with the latter being considerably higher capacity. The trade off is, as most know, considerably higher speed and also less susceptibility to shock damage.

What does 1TB 5400 RPM + 24 GB SSD mean in a hard drive?

i am trying to buy a laptop, there are different versions of it.

1. 1 TB 5400 RPM + 24 GB SSD
2. 1 TB 5400 RPM + 8 GB SSD
3. 1 TB HDD storage + 8GB SSHD Hybrid

i know #1 is the best one, but i would like to understand why please. and how different it is to number 2, because number 2 is less expensive than #1, so i want to buy #2 instead ONLY if 16 less GB SSD doesn't make that much of difference? but does it?

and i asked a question earlier today about the comparison of 8 GB SSD to 500 GB external hard drive, ppl are saying 8 GB SSD isn't that much at all? then how does that apply to the "1 TB 5400 RPM + 8 GB SSD" laptop? does that mean it's storage capacity isn't much at all? what is RPM and how does it change the hard drive when it's added with 8 GB SSD?

i thought SSD is what speeds up loading time, but is it also memory storage? and what kind of memory? (pictures, music, games, files)?

thanks so much in advance

Is 750GB good for a laptop?

The RAM is more important than the hard drive capacity. 4GB of RAM will be tops for a 32 bit OS, but if you install a 64 bit OS, you can go with 6 or more GB of RAM.
