Is a clockwise triskele symbol out from common center in a clockwise direction or from tip of spiral to center?

Interesting question.

http://www.123celtic-irish-jewelry.com/c... defines a clockwise SPIRAL as starting from the inner point. That page also shows clockwise spirals assembled into triskeles, but doesn't actually call the results clockwise. However, those are the ones described as Celtic/European, whereas the mirror (reversed) image is Hopi.

It can use straight or curved lines, with or without other ornamentation. The arms and end-hooks can be of equal length with each other, or not. All four arms have the same length, and all four end-hooks have the same length. It began to appear as a symbol around Europe before WW I. When Hitler adopted it for the Nazi party. For the Nazi party, it was associated with the myth of the conquering Aryan race. Because of Nazi use, the symbol became infamous, and it is rarely used in the West, though the religions of India continue to use it with their original meanings.A very full illustrated history can be found here: Swastika
