What do I feed my 3 month old golden retriever?

Hi there,Hope you are having a good time with your golden retriver like me.Golden Retriever require highly nutritious food for their growth and to maintain their coat and skin.I was using using Royal Canin Maxi starter and puppy cerelac. The food schedule is 5 times/day that include puppy cerelac 3 times a day and maxi starter 2 times a day .After it completes 3 months you can stop cerelac and feed with maxi starter . I would like to share the image of dog .

Golden Retriever color question...?

My golden has darkened since he was a puppy. He was a very light color as a puppy and has turned into a gorgeous deep golden six year old. The rule of thumb is that whatever shade their ears are as a youngster, that is the color they will generally turn into as an adult. Yours is still considered a puppy, as goldens don't turn adult until after two years old. So that is why your puppy's mom got darker at two years old. Mine did too when he reached adult age. So yours will likely still darken up a bit. Then when they reach senior years, they do typically get lighter. The same premise of humans getting gray hair because the pigment goes out of our hair, goldies can get kind of a creme colored white appearance around the face and sometimes lighten up all over. But they still will have more of the golden color. So likely yours will darken up and have a very pretty coat until over ten years of age when they just lose some pigmentation. I will always have at least one golden in my home at all times. They are so beautiful and so loving!! Best of luck with your pretty pup through the years of her pretty goldie life!!!

Golden retriever or cocker spaniel?

Both are fantastic breeds. BUT for a first time dog owner i would say the Golden retriever.

I own a cocker spaniel [english] and they are actually quite a dominant and stubborn breed unless you know how to display a natural air of authority over them as they dont respond well to harsh treatment, they are a sensitive breed. Whereas a retriever tends to be more willing to go with the flow and work with an owner, most dont feel the need to battle to be in charge, and when you ask them to do something they do it rather then ask "why should i" which for a first time dog owner is a major plus.

The only thing i would mention is that both of these breeds need a lot of effort when it comes to grooming, in particular spaniels, and if you are taking it to the beach regularly then that is a lot of sand and salt water to have to groom out on a DAILY basis. And if you dont have money to take them to the groomer then their coats can easily get out of hand. And if you arent willing to deal with a coat then i'd recommend a labrador, which is practically a short coated goldie [personalty wise].

Describe how a golden retriever puppy looks?

a relative [i cant ask her (its a long story) if she is] of mine gave me a puppy, and it resembles a golden retriever. She is VERY hyper, she has short fur with longer hair on the ears and neck. It is kinda wavy [crimped looking]. She looks maybe 3 or4 months old and weighs about 25 pounds. She also has a wide muzzle, and ears like golden retrievers. Does it sound right?

My house reeks of my dog (Golden Retriever) any ways to get rid of it?

It's sad that you are the only one in your family that is reaching out for idea's on how to better your home and also take care of an innocent animal...who most likely just wants to run in the lake and jump on your bed :) Well there are ton's of things you can do, just do some more research. As we speak, I have a Pet Odor candle going in my room because I too have the same problem from time to time. The biggest thing though...Making sure all of the dog hair is off the ground/carpet/furniture. Old dog hair can be quite nasty and I'm sure he's got a lot of it. Take him outside with a zoom groom or a brush, and get all of his nasty fur off, give him a few good brushes each day for a while..he will love it and you will notice a difference in the shedding. Is it a wet dog smell? That's the worst smell in the world (ESPECIALLY Lake dog smell), make sure he is very dry before he enters your home...go get him a good bath from a bather, and have his anal gland's released...that's another smell that can be quite potent. Keep him away from the beach for a while and see if any of the above helps, just monitor his habits and prove to your parents that you are capable of taking care of this animal. In all honesty, you're never going to fully be able to get rid of a dog smell, also make sure he isn't lifting his leg in the house on walls/plants/carpets...urine causes lingering effects and can stink up a house. I hope you don't have to get rid of him, get your parents involved in making this dog a part of your family...he will be a better dog for it. Good Luck!
