@vampire:
sister, dont be so harsh on rice.

she is your muslim sister in faith.
do understand that she belongs to a totally different background which instills bias against islam and feeds subliminal thoughts that enrage people unintentionally and unknowingly against islam.

i KNOW it is hard for you at such a young age to take pre-emptive measure to know about islam and learn of your faith.

Is the name Kristen okay in Islam?

As salamu alaykum. I m going to keep this short. My name is Kristen and it means "follower of Christ." Is this name acceptable in Islam? Or would I have to change it when I convert, inshallah? If I do have to change it, does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should change it to? Thank you.

Can I have Muhammad as my middle name, in Islam?

This question was asked on Yahoo Answers and the OP later came back with:No. The name "Muhammad" is not allowed to be a middle or last name. It ALWAYS has to be a first nameWhat I see on this question, so far, is that many will give their opinion as if their opinion were law. No sources, just someone claiming that something is okay or not okay or prohibited, "not allowed."Not allowed by whom? Unstated.I suggest using names that inspire you. The tradition is not to use a name of God. You would not name yourself "Allah," nor "Rahman." But Abdullah or Abd ul-Rahman (the name I use) is fine. Servant of God or Servant of the Merciful.Many people are named Muhammad and the idea expressed by some that one shouldn't, because then if someone curses you, they are cursing the Prophet, is bizarre, it does not reflect at all how language is used. Your name is your name. If someone named Muhammad commits a crime, the indictment would read "Muhammad," which would not be Abu-al-Qasim Muhammad Ibn Abd allh Ibn Abd al-Mut-alib Al Hashimi, SAS.Which specifies the Prophet. Abu al-Qasim means "father of Qasim," which was the name of his son, who died before the age of two.You have the name Muhammad. It's a good name, for obvious reasons, but you may be known by other names. There are two issues here: your birth name, i.e., your legal name, generally, then the names you are called. You may legally change your name, in many places, if it makes a difference, by going to court. You may change what you are called, usually, with no special process, you just start using the new name.There is nothing wrong with this if there is no deceptive or harmful intention."Last name" in English is generally the name of one's father, or if the father is unknown, the name of one's mother. It is somewhat offensive to change that, but people can do it. Talking about adopted orphans, the Qur'an has "call them by their father's name."Now, I adopted an Ethiopian girl. Her name on the documents was [first name] Simeon, the last name being that of her grandfather. We named her, for usage in American, [first name] Simone Lomax, using the female form of Simon or Simeon. This was out of respect for her family, but giving her two names she could use in English.So ...Shahid Afridi , a Pakistani cricket player, has a full name of Sahibzada Mohammad Shahid Khan Afridi.It would not even occur to me that this might be offensive.
