Is A Pig Farm A Good Business In The Philippines

Is a pig farm a good business in the Philippines?

what i need is info. I am a person when i start a business i learn how to run it by my self 1st if not then i wont do it. The idea is that i need to invest my time with some thing that will return good money. Expat, i would love to do some thing for them but it hard to know what the need. Last year when i live in the Davao i hated when it was hard to fine things i like, like beer. I hated the beer there but got used to it. So i think to my self that's what will happen to most other expat. I am thinking of starting out with 100 pigs 95 females. I now the cost of feeds, i need the cost of labor, building the homes for the pig? If i do it with my wife would that be ok?

Why is farming still the basic occupation in the Philippines?

My opinion is that steady brain and brawn drain for the last thirty decades. Most of the educated, professionals, and anyone who can borrow money to work else where will do so. So what you have left is basically farming or fishing for the poor, uneducated or have no relatives to borrow nor have themselves be sponsored in another country for work.

Pig Farming?

texasgirl, I'm going to try to answer your question the best I can, you left out a lot of information. Starting from the bottom, it is not necessary to get any degree to successfully raise pigs. If you are going to a university anyway and want a major that will fit your plans, try animal husbandry. Also try to get in as much marketing and economics as you can.
How much money pig farmers make a year? On a given year, some make a lot and some lose a lot. A lot depends on the market price that you have no control over. The only way to be sure of making money raising hogs today is to grow contract pigs for the confinement farms. You don't want to take that route.
On the first questions, I'm going to assume a lot, but this is what I would recommend. First recommendation is to raise free range pigs.
I am going to assume that all of your business are going to be on your farm. The smell of confinement farming would automatically kill your cafe business. The feed store would fit in well with the hog farming. It will fit better on the free range hogs. Having a restaurant gives you a good market for your pigs through the cafe. You might want to consider going organic and make this a feature of your restaurant. Getting a little bit outside of your question, you may want to raise some free range chickens and eggs to market through your restaurant. Also at least enough beef to supply your restaurant. I would also add a home slaughter house to the business and feature cured hams, bacon, etc for sale through the cafe business. Free range and/or organic meat will be a big draw for your meats as well. That could turn into your biggest money maker. You would be in a position to control the market price for your pigs. I think it would work well for you and your family. Best of luck.

Which is a better business: poultry farming or goat farming?

Poultry farming involves raising birds for feathers, meat and egg while goat farming involves raising goats for meat and maybe milk. These two are equally good if you are willing to put in the required time, efforts and resources to make their venture a worthy investment. Hence your choice of investment will depend strictly on the resources available such as land, pasture, access to water etc, also the size of holdings is an important aspect to look at. The following will guide you in the choice of your businessGoats take longer time to grow and reproduce than poultryThis means you will have to wait a little longer to sell your goats than you would if you had poultryDo you want to practice free range or intensive caging system? What is the demand side of your business? Without a demand for your products, there would be no need to start any of these in the first place except of course you want to raise them for your consumption.Hence, everything will depend on your preference based on the availability of valid answers these.I hope this helps. Cheers

Is poultry farming a profitable business?

I will consider poultry farming as a profitable business. To get a good amount of profit you have cultivate at list 2000 poultry chicken at one time. There are many companies who will give the chicks of poultry bird and they will supply the food of the poultry bird or chicks, They will also give you medicine so you does not have to invest a huge amount of money. You have to cultivate it for 40 days then the company will take poultry chicken and they will give 6.5 rupees per kg for growing the poultry chicken. So if you cultivate 2000 poultry chicken with in 40 days it will give you 2kg 200g body weight per chicks and if 100 piece poultry chicken will die due to any disease the 1900 poultry chicken will remain. Then 1900 bird will give 4180 body weight and if you multiplies it with 6.5 then it will come (inc) 27170 rs/-. Then you subtract the cost of the labor charge 5000 rupees and electric bill 1000 rupees and the cost of the dropping 2000 rupees and others 1000 rupees. Then you will get nearly 18000 rupees profit after 40 days. You can do this cultivation for whole year. you have to clean the shed after giving the poultry chicken to the company people then they will watch the cleaning of your shed and they will again send you the chicks through whole year. Poultry droppings are rich in nitrogen and organic material and hence, are considered valuable as fertilizers, which is another cost benefit. So you can make a huge profit and good earning from poultry farming business.
