Now you mentioned that the certificate signing authority is the same as the issuer. I am guessing you are getting this directly from the certificate and if it says that then it is very strange. The best thing to verify the certificate is to open it and look at the certification path. This should begin with trusted certificate signer and move through trusted signers. I would tell you the exact path but again my certificate is signed by Equifax.

If you think your certificate is a fake the first thing I would do is go into the internet options clear your SSL State. When you log back into Yahoo the certificate should be signed by Equifax and if it is not then I would being to get worried. But again, as long as the certification path is valid, it will be secure. I have heard that some companies do strange things with certificates in order to deal with scaling problems.
