Is Afghanistan Middle East/central Asia/south Asia

Is Afghanistan Middle Eastern, West Asian, Central Asian or South Asian?

It can be grouped in either - most often, it is put as a part of Central Asia or South Asia (sometimes, as a part of the Greater Middle East as well), but the two above mentioned categories are most frequent. Some maps do include it in Central Asia:Some don’t:Same can be said about South Asia:Even Wikipedia puts it in both South and Central Asia:So I guess it can be either South or Central Asian (although I heard that most consider it more a part of the latter).

Are Iran and Afghanistan in central Asia, south Asia, or west Asia?

Iran is in West Asia. Afghanistan is culturally Central Asian/West Asian, but is sometimes grouped with South Asian countries which is completely inaccurate. South Asians are very different than Afghans and have their own culture distinct from Afghan culture.

IS AFGHANISTAN MIDDLE EAST/CENTRAL ASIA/SOUTH ASIA?

But Ethnically and culturaly to Central asia and Iran ( not arab states) because the majority of Afghans are from the Iranic race like the Tajiks and the Pashtuns who speak iranian languages like Farsi and Pashto. and the 2nd larger race in Afghanistan are the Turks the Uzbeks and Turkmens who speak turkic languages.
so it could be both central asia or Middle east. the real border of South asia is the Indus river the east bank of the Indus river is South asia and to the west it is Central asia and Western Asia so North west pakistan who also has Pashtuns is also middle east or central asia by culture and race.
Afghans don't have the same cuisine as pakistanis and Indians , bangladeshis or clothing , language branch etc.

The british said in the 19th century that: Afghanistan is a country between British india and the Russian empire (central asia) it lies In the Iranian plateau
Politicaly it is south asia since 2007 it joined the SAARC for economic reasons.

Conclusion: Afghanistan is culturally and ethnically connected to Central asia and Middle east
Politcally to South asia. if it depends on me Afghanistan is for sure Central asia

Afghanistan is not a homogeneous country to put it straightly into either of the three groups. It is a multi-ethnic nation that has a history of being at the center of Multi-Cultural Cross Roads.Geographically, Afghanistan has been at the tri-junction of the three of the ancient civilizations viz India, Persia & Chinese . It also sits south to the Eurasian Steppes that had been home to numerous nomadic empires and warrior-invader Tribes. While the India and Persia influenced the culture of Afghanistan, the demography of the nation has been a potpourri of various tribes that are Central Asian in Geographic origin and Iranian in linguistic identity. While the ancient Indian influence is visible on Afghanistan from the times of Indus valley civilization, post its Islamization, the country became culturally closer to Persian[ not Middle East ] while its demography is closer to the Central Asian.
