Is Alkaline Water is Harmful or Not

Alkaline water for a baby?

Babies do not have an overly acidic diet, they don't need the pH balancing effect of alkaline water. Your safest bet is to give your baby purified water. Children have a stronger bicarbonate buffer than adults do, so they generally do not need the pH balancing effects of alkaline water either.

Middle aged persons(45 yrs+) benefit most from alkaline water because the body's bicarbonate buffer begins to decline. But any person who suffers from the symptoms of metabolic syndrome can benefit from alkaline water, since the symptoms of metabolic syndrome have been linked with low urinary pH.

There is scientific backing that supports the use of ionized alkaline water as a healthy alternative to plain water. The strongest studies show benefits for long term bone health. The article I've linked shows that even skeptics agree that there is a positive link between drinking alkaline water and bone health.

Is Alkaline Water bad for you?

I bought some alkaline drops to add to my water because I have rosacea and I wanted to try to lower my acidity. I started drinking them yesterday and after 3-4 glasses through the day I got a migraine and felt nauseous and sick like passing out. I ended up going to sleep to try to rid myself of the migraine. Today I woke up and felt better but I could feel the migraine lingering and my stomach was still somewhat upset. Obviously, after I felt sick yesterday I didn't drink anymore of the alkaline drops. But I'm wondering if it was the alkaline water that brought this on or maybe stress/cold weather/etc. I tried looking it up on google but can't seem to find any relevant info. If anyone knows anything about alkaline water and its effects please let me know!

PS I'm starting to think maybe my body was more alkaline and instead I made it worse by adding the alkaline water. But again, I'm not sure if I caught something (like the flu or some bug) or if it was the alkaline.

Is alkaline water good for the face?

The pH scale goes from 0 to 14, 7 is neutral, anything below 7 is acidic and the lower the number the more acidic it is, anything above 7 is alkaline and the higher the number the more alkaline it is. Usually people that sell expensive alkaline machines tell you to use acidic water to wash with to justify its use.
The way acidic water works is by killing and stripping the surface, this can be effective but may be harsh especially to sensetive skin people.
The way alkaline water works is by creating an alkaline environment so germs, bacteria, etc can't live or survive and keeps the area clean, this is also effective but also safer, in addition to this your skin breathes and is a living organism, so using acidic water will also absorb into the skin and into your blood creating acidity and that's not so good as this would have been the first cause of problem skin, using alkaline water also helps to alkalize your skin and blood and therefor helps to balance your pH and eventually your skin. Alkaline water also has more oxygen, this is also very good for your skin.
The best water to use is not machine/electrified alkalinie water, it is to best use natural alkaline water as you can feel the difference when drinking the two and you will see and feel the difference using the two.
You can also use purified water with baking soda in it, this makes the water alkaline and is a great natural, safe cleanser.

Benefits of alkaline water?

Jesse has given you a very good answer.

There are no health benefits to drinking water that is slightly alkaline or acidic. The concept of your body being too alkaline or acidic is based on poor knowledge of basic homeostasis and physiology.
You are being ripped off. You are fine drinking water from your tap. Put it through a Brita filter or something if that makes you "feel" better.

Is alkaline water better for health?

Alkaline water is also know as mineral water, cos they continue carbonate that increase the alkalinity of the solution.

In many places, "mineral water" is often colloquially used to mean carbonated water (which is usually carbonated mineral water, as opposed to tap water).

Mineral water is water containing minerals or other dissolved substances that alter its taste or give it therapeutic value. Salts, sulfur compounds, and gases are among the substances that can be dissolved in the water. Mineral water can often be effervescent. Mineral water can be prepared or can occur naturally.

Traditionally mineral waters would be used or consumed at their source, often referred to as taking the waters or taking the cure, and such sites were referred to as spas, baths or wells. Spa would be used when the water was consumed and bathed in, bath when the water was not generally consumed, and well when the water was not generally bathed in. Often an active tourist centre would grow up around a mineral water site (even in ancient times; see Bath). Such tourist development resulted in spa towns and hydropathic hotels (often shortend to Hydros).

In modern times it is far more common for mineral waters to be bottled at source for distributed consumption. Travelling to the mineral water site for direct access to the water is now uncommon, and in many cases not possible (because of exclusive commercial exploitation). There are over 3000 brands of mineral water available commercially worldwide[1].
