Is All That Is Going On Now Simply Adding To The Conservative Legacy Of Brutal Racism

Will Barack Obama's presidential legacy reflect racism as one of the many reason's for the gridlock and lack of cooperation he's received from republicans or will he be considered a president who lacked the right leadership skills to get the job done?

I suppose some people will blame racial differences for the disgusting performance of Obama.  Most people will not.  There is nothing about his race that explains his horrible performance in office.Obama spent the first 4 years in office doing exactly the same things he did when campaigning for election to the office.  He never made the transition from candidate to statesman.  Any time he got in range of a microphone he either attacked those "Millionaires and Billionaires" or blamed the previous administration of "W" Bush for whatever went wrong.  His answer to any problem was to travel to some friendly venue such as a Liberal college campus and give a campaign like speech to try to gain support for his position.  After his party lost control of the House of Representatives in mid-term elections of 2010 he added the Republicans in the House to his list of others to blame for his own failures.  He never took responsibility for anything.  He never even attempted to negotiate with the opposition Republicans.  Instead it was a 4 year long attack on anyone he didn't like or considered an opponent. When someone criticizes Obama and his administration for the incredibly bad performance of him, his administration and his polices the Democrats who seem to worship this incompetent president sometimes claim the opposition is just against him because of his race.  This is just another excuse for his terrible performance and an attempt to spin all the criticism to something which might be considered inappropriate instead of the actual reality of his horrible performance in office.

How did everything get so politicized? Why do liberals make everything about race? I think its making our country more divided, what can I do?

Maybe because at the core many political positions are about race. For example the idea that to be against police brutality you must be against the police and for rioters or law breaking. To be against building a wall you must be for a flood of Mexicans streaming across borders. To be against voter id laws you must be for so called rigged elections. To be against government waste then you must be for welfare reform so the takers of society don’t get what they shouldn’t have. The highlighting of police as being the victims is in response to BLM concerns and is done solely to marginalize and minimize BLM instead of reviewing and acknowkedging the racism present in many police departments. The idea that Mexicans are taking jobs or flooding across borders is not backed up by any facts but it is backed up by racist attitudes.Voter fraud is a non-issue made out to be a huge issue for the sole purpose and sole effect of reducing access to voting. Those effected most are likely minorities.Welfare is not the major expense or social evil it is often protrayed to be. Corporate tax loop holes and the ability of the wealthy to avoid paying taxes is a much larger money drain on society but welfare recepients get the negaitivity directed at them because of racism being in play.A president just left office after successfully piloting the country to a much better place on most all fronts and yet comments directed at him and his family included racist references such as apes, monkey, jungle dwellers, and worse.

Do liberals demonize police officers as racists who brutalize African-Americans?

Content warning for images at the end of my answerThere are people who time and time again try to make that characterization ( that liberals demonize all police.) This reductionist characterization is divisive , inaccurate and irresponsible. Can one be against malpractice or abuse of power within a profession and not be wholesale “ against the police? “ Of course. Its not just modern liberals that have concerns : its left leaning libertarians, and some conservatives. They are concerned about the justice part of the criminal justice system, and constitutional rights.Anecdotally, how many black Americans on Quora and offline does one have to hear a story about being harassed or profiled by the police before one is convinced that this is still a problem? Yes, black parents and grandparents have to have a “talk “ that is different from white families because of a legacy of mistreatment and profiling. No, I absolutely do not believe that “the talk” has the same dynamic that any talk about the police that any family does. Are all Catholic priests sex offenders? No, of course not. But for every sex offender, there were 4–5 other clergy who were involved in covering it up. There is a problem with law enforcement and internal reporting within departments, and coverups. That is why independent investigations are being promoted by Campaign Zero and Black Lives Matters. There is a well established legacy in the United States criminal justice of gross mistreatment and brutality with regards to POC. Given this legacy, I think it is absolutely rational for black Americans to be concerned about each and every case of black person who dies in police custody.[1][2]( Yes, the concern about any American who dies in police custody is there, but I don’t feel that its up to members of the black community to do the labor for that issues. For generations, the black American community has been standing up to gross injustice.)Footnotes[1] Violence against blacks recalls civil-rights era[2] Kerner Commission Report released - Feb 29, 1968 - HISTORY.com
