Is An Dv Arrest Policy That Arrests Not The Alleged Perpetrator Of Violence But The Alleged More

Why is domestic violence against men not taken seriously?

I am not sure why this question for referred for ask to answer, but I would try to answer it as rightly as possible. The main reason for domestic violence against men is practically shunned by the society, the only idea behind is seems farcical to most of the people. Domestic abuse is primarily viewed as crime committed by men, so, if a man claims to have himself domestically abused by his women, he is made a laughing joke out of it, from his family members, groups, peers as well as his friends. And it’s not just India, it’s around the globe. It’s been researched that more than 700,00,000 cases of men’s domestic abuse go unattended, because men are not ready seeking legal help for their abuse.Shame and societal conditioning plays an important part. This is a grave social issue which is arising day by day, and I think we need to address it as seriously as we address feminine issues nowadays. Our society have conditioned men to be all strong beasts who can readily handle their own problems. The society expects men, not to cry, not to show a moment of weakness and expect them to deal their problems on their own. That’s where the problem lies.Men are ashamed to report themselves getting abused by their spouses, and hence most of such crimes gets unreported. Also, the people who may have reported the crime, may get arrested themselves because of the law favoring more on feminism, this is something to ponder upon.I am not against the idea of feminism, but I would ask empowered females,“Would you intervene over a situation where you see a man getting beaten and bruised by a woman?”“Would you judge the man or would you really educate the woman on domestic violence?”If you ask me, if ladies do talk of feminism then they should come forward if any atrocities are committed towards men, because that’s the female power for me. We need to be compassionate and empathize with males who are abused by females, so that it would only help them to come forward and share their atrocities and only then they can get justice.Amen!

Is an DV arrest policy that arrests, not the alleged perpetrator of violence, but the alleged more dangerous partner, gender-neutral?

Arrests are based in large part on principles set forth in the feminist created Duluth Model of Violence which assumes males are always the perpetrators and females always the victim. Such a policy is most certainly not gender neutral and also directly contradicts all the statistics to the contrary.

If someone is assaulted and the victim does not press charges, can the assaulter still get into legal trouble?

Others have written good answers and some of those others are lawyers or police officers ... Me? I'm neither, but I think I have a little to add that may help clarify things (but not really add a lot new).In a criminal case, the case reads e.g. New York vs. Joe Smith.  In a civil case, it would be Jane Doe vs. Joe Smith. In a criminal case, the prosecution is done by some combination of police officers, other investigators, and the city, state or federal authorities.  The police are paid by the "people".  If it goes to trial, the attorneys for the prosecution are also paid by the people. Several people raised the fact that, in a murder case, the victim can't press charges. True.  But hardly unique! This also happens in many drug cases, prostitution cases and child/spousal abuse cases. However, it wasn't always so and it isn't so everywhere.  All the above is centered on the USA (although I believe many other countries are similar). Some states have, however, not even tried to prosecute criminals and others make only minor efforts to do so.  This failure may be due to the actual law or it may be due to lack of resources or it may be due to corruption. When this is the case, people take the law into their own hands.  Such places are always very violent.  E.g. the "wild west". I'd be interested to hear about how criminal cases work in other countries.
