Is Anybody On Medication For Anxiety

Does anyone know the best medication to take for anxiety?

Gosh, can try Alternative Medicine forum as Valerian is a great alternative for anxiety (used to make Valium).

I deal with anxiety most everyday and have for years. Meds didn't/don't work for me and I have abused alcohol to self medicate. I have tried every SSRI, a couple antipsychotics, and tricyclic antidepressants. Adverse side effects to all, and that has been a blessing because it meant I had to "man up" and deal with it, and I do everyday.

I had to explore what was causing my anxiety and it all came down to FEAR. Afraid of just about everything because most everything was out of my control. Stress and excessive worry are also symptoms of anxiety/excessive fears. And shame and regret. All negatives that can be replaced with positives but you have to know what the negatives are first.

We live in a quick fix society, and our generation has been convinced that a pill will fix everything and anything. They don't work that way. Takes hard work to overcome fears and the pills just flatten your affect so you can't feel anything, including creativity and imagination. Fears are still there, just can't feel them or anything else.

Exercise works off a lot of anxiety....just amazing! Walking, running, hiking all please the body and mind. Our bodies are designed to work...and if they don't, they begin to become ill. We're not designed to sit around and think about our problems.

At any rate, do try to work on your issues......it works and does take time and patience. Baby steps!!

(Effexor works for anxiety as well as depression, but not for me!!)

Anyone who's suffering from Anxiety what kind of medication are you taking and is it helping?

depends how serious your anxiety. Buspar works pretty well, but make sure they get dose high enough. Propanal works well in low doses but is for actual anxiety physical symptoms like fast heart rate, sweaty palms, etc. Got to make sure your blood pressure does not get to low. anti-depressents like zoloft help. Avoid Xanax- it can send you on a roller coaster up then down and is very addictive. Paxil works ok if you don't get side affects. Good luck!

Can I pay someone to get me anxiety/ADHD medications?

If you have, or even suspect you have, ADHD and you are a resident of Canada any physician can prescribe following CADDRA guidelines.

Does anxiety medication actually help with anxiety?

Seven years ago I had debilitating panic attacks. When those were over, waves of depersonalisation too charge. Then, chronic fatigue. I felt I was going to faint in the street. I was so fed up with it all that i booked a phycologist and went for an assessment. I was all fidgety and in the middle of the session a wave of nausea crept over me, then my heart rushing, dizziness and panic. She prescribed me medication.”Listen, it’s not just the pills. It’s also behavioural. But the pills will take the edge off. I know a doctor, a psychiatrist. Go see him”I went to see him. He prescribed me an antidepressant and some sleeping pills.”Look, you don’t have to worry about it. There are some side effects but they will be gone in a few days. Don’t worry about them. I take them, I feel fine. Going basketball with my buddies tonight”.I was on the edge. Should I take them? They surely made great advances in medicine. Maybe they’ll cure me. I will be normal again. Then I thought of the doctor’s face. He was distant, in a way. Robotic. I also read about artificial drugs messing up with your brain in ways that are not fully understood. What to do? I wondered half a day, with the bottle full of pills in my hand. Hell of a decision. Then I threw it in a trash can.It was the best decision of my life. Back then I couldn’t believe that it will be possible to experience life again, without the panic, the social anxiety, the fatigue and depersonalisation. But now here I am. No panic attack in more then 6 years, stronger, healthier, calmer. I can sleep, I can relax. I got married, I got promoted. I got over anxiety and panic disorder. And believe me, I experienced it all.So my advice is: trust yourself. This is not a disease. Clinical depression is, bipolar is, psychosis is, paranoia is. You can do little to conquer those without medication. But anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety, mild depression, phobias, ibs etc are not real diseases You can recover without medication. Medication is simply ineffective. It will cover some of the symptoms in the short term, but the root of the conditions will still be the same.So trust yourself. Fight. Change your life, your habits, your routines, your diet, your mood, your thinking. Be disciplined and you will recover. I am not a doctor and I would not recommend this for serious diseases, but if your diagnosis is anxiety, you can, alone, make it.Trust yourself!

Does anyone take this medication for anxiety/despression?

dont worry i've been on mine(zorophyl) for about 2 months at first i was really upset because i thought that only really depressed people have to take them and i felt like i would become one of those. its still hard because its not as if im old dealing with it, im only 15 and becomes hard sometimes. When i got told that i should go on to anti anxiety/depressants i first was sad and confused but my doctor explained why and how it will help me and if it makes the thoughts and things go away then do whatever they tell you to do, just remember you wont be on them you whole life. i hope you feel better soon xoo

How does depression/social anxiety medication work?

I'm 16 with a pretty bad case of social anxiety. My mom has agreed to use medication, though she is alittle hesitant because of repots that this type of medication gives suicidal thoughts to people under 18.

I've been to therapy and though it gave me some good pointers that I use everyday to help me through the social part of my social anxiety, it doesn't get rid of that "worried" filling that I can sometimes feel continuously. That feeling actually consumes my whole mood at times. The therapy has only helped with talking to people, and even then it has only helped alittle.

But I would like to know more about this type of medication before I actually take it. I'm sure my doctor will tell me some stuff too, but how does it actually work? How will it make me feel better?
