Is Anyone There Having Problem With Hives

Was diagnosed with chronic hives.Anyone out there know anything about them?

I have had hives for years and anything the doctors gave me did not work. I had to figure it out myself by doing alot of research. First, if you are getting them in your mouth it is a reaction to something you ate. So be aware of this. Second, if you get them on your body it can be a reaction from your soap or laundry detergent, or, stress. I only use Dove soap and for my laundry I use All Free & Clear liquid laundry soap, and Downey Free & Sensitive liquid fabric softner. Just these changes have tremendously reduced my hives. I also take 1,000mg. of L-Lysine once a day. Since I have been using this supplement I never break out in hives. You can buy them at Wal-mart - very inexpensive and really does the trick. Start on them right away and continue taking them daily. It will take approx. 1 month for your system to balance out. Also, when you purchase new clothes or bra they can cause hives. The manufacturers use something in the material to make them look crisp and nice. Wash any new garment before wearing them. For the itching use a oatmeal lotion, and if really bad take a benadryl, but they will make you sleepy. If you get anxious when your hives break out go to Wal-mart and purchase "Calms" by Hyland brand in the vitamin/supplement section. They will reduce the anxiety that comes along with the hives. They are inexpensive and non-addictive, all natural formula that works great. I know all of this from experience - I would get hives so bad my lips looked like someone took a tire pump and blew them up. I would also get them really bad on my body. I bet I could write a book on alternative treatments for hives. Good luck! I know how miseralble they can be.

Does anyone else experience hives in the cold?

HI! I think this is the first time I have ever seen someone with this problem besides me! I am much older than you (40's) but this happened to me when I was a child and continued into my 20's. I live in Wisconsin so I went through this a lot. I would get big raised pink "welts" on my face, legs, stomach mostly and I would also get some swelling in my hands just like you. This does not happen to me anymore so it seems like either my body fights it off now or I literally outgrew it! I wish I help you with a way to prevent it but even when I kept everything covered it still happened. By the way, it is super cold here right now too! Temps in the teens with dangerous winds!

Good luck and I hope others can help you with some advice!

Does anyone know what to do for allergy shiners and hives?

Has she been to an allergist or dermatologist? It may be that she needs to see both for treatment. For something OTC, Aveeno oatmeal baths and the body lotion seem to help my 17 yr old daughter's dry skin, and Cortaid helps to some degree as well. However, I would seek a second opinion if what the doctor prescribed is not working.

How do you handle hives?

the past few days I've been having a bad episode of hives all over my body. I don't know what's causing them, but they're pretty bad. I'm scared this will lead to something serious, seeing that it's gotten so bad. Is it possible? does anyone have a bad hive problem, or am I the only one? It's really scaring me, and I want it to stop! :( I've never had anything like this happen. Could it be due to the change in weather?

Love hives?

Problem: He has horrible itchy hives all over his body, he's had them for weeks. We've determined they aren't from anything physical, it has to be psychological.

He said he's had these hives only one other time in his life, when he was 13. That's the same age he fell in love with a girl he was in love with for 7 years. He's very cut off from his emotions, so he has no idea what could be triggering this. I remember the day before he got these hives, he read something accidentally that i wrote about loving him. He didn't know that beforehand.

Could these be love hives?
Am I just being ridiculous?
Does such a thing even exist?

Can I still give blood if I have hives?

you are all set. as long as you feel healthy enough to do it, they will still take your blood. im sure there's nothing wrong with you, except maybe a minor allergic reaction. but that wouldn't effect your blood anyways. but when you go in and they ask you all those questions like "have you had sex with a prostitute from africa in the last 6 months?" just run it by your nurse and see what she says. good luck =]

What kind of substances could cause hives at night?

I have been getting hives for the last several weeks, and I seem to get them worse at night. I went to a dermatologist and he is telling me just to take Zyrtec...which has helped, but if I forget to take it, I start having problems at night. I often have problems breathing. Someone suggested it might be a plant outside my window (since this is the first time in my life I have ever gotten Hives and we've only been at this house for a year). Any ideas or suggestions on what kinds of plants bloom at night, or what other items could cause hives at night? Please let me know cause I feel like I'm dying. I have an appointment with an allergist, but it is not for two weeks.
