Is Bad That My Right Eyelid Keeps Twitching

Why does my eyelid keep twitching?

OOH I hate it when that happens! It's soooo irritating, it used to happen to me ALL the time!

There are various causes of eye twitching. The more common causes for eye twitching include:

-Stress
-Lack of sleep
-Fatigue
-Prolonged staring or eye strain
Corneal irritation or injury (you injured your eye doing something funky)

This is what it said on a medical website:

The most common things that make the muscle in your eyelid twitch are fatigue, stress, and caffeine. Once spasms begin, they may continue off and on for a few days. Then, they disappear. Most people experience this type of eyelid twitch on occasion and find it very annoying. In most cases, you won't even notice when the twitch has stopped.

More severe contractions, where the eyelid completely closes, are possible. These can be caused by irritation of the surface of the eye (cornea) or the membranes lining the eyelids (conjunctiva).

Sometimes, the reason your eyelid is twitching cannot be identified. This form of eyelid twitching lasts much longer, is often very uncomfortable, and can also cause your eyelids to close completely.

In addition to having repetitive, uncontrollable twitching or spasms of your eyelid (usually the upper lid), you may be very sensitive to light or have blurry vision.

Eyelid twitching usually disappears without treatment. In the meantime, the following steps may help:

Get more sleep.
Drink less caffeine.
Lubricate your eyes with eye drops.

If twitching is severe, small injections of botulinum toxin can temporarily cure the spasms.
( I think thats a little drastic, and not your case :P)

Hope this helps :D

My lower eyelid keeps twitching?!?!?

ok first off your NOT gonna die from it... But i have had this happen to me many many times. If you have been stressed and losing sleep, then that would definitely be a cause. This would also tie it into your headaches yes. just get some more sleep and relax. Take a soothing bath with bathe beads, watch a movie with a big bowl of popcorn and sleep in! If not that, then there could also be a problem with your vision. if you have been having harder times seeing things before it started twitching then you might be straining it too much, in terms meaning, you should go to your doctor and have them checked to see if you need glasses or if you have glasses, stronger ones. It's not a serious thing that is for sure, but i would say that just relax and as irritating as it is, ignore it, and it will go away soon. Hopefully it does!

My lower right eyelid keeps twitching for a couple of weeks. How do I stop it?

Eyelid twitching is a very common complaint which most people experience from time to time. Common causes do include overall fatigue as well as fatigue to your eyes. Common causes of eye fatigue do include long hours in front of a computer or TV. It sounds like you may have both lack of adequate sleep as well as eye fatigue from the computer usage and video games.

Depending on when you last had your eyes checked, you may want to get your vision checked again, as it is possible that you do in fact need glasses if your vision hasn't been checked in a while.

Most eye specialists seem to recommend that if your twitching doesn't improve within a week (or if you have other problems) that you see an eye doctor to get things evaluated.

Unfortunately, there isn't any simple way to get it to stop other than to fix whatever is causing the problem. If lack of sleep is the problem, make sure you get enough sleep. If you are spending a lot of time in front of the computer / TV, make sure you take breaks from time to time to let your eyes rest. If you need glasses, make sure you wear them regularly (or get your eyes checked if they haven't been checked in a while.

In very severe cases that are bothersome and don't get better over time, doctors may treat the problem botox injections.

My eyelid keeps twitching?

I have had the same problem. There is nothing wrong with you. I went to the eye doctor thinking it was an eye problem. He said that lack of sleep, or too much caffeine can cause that to happen. Eye strain can also cause it, but that wasn't my issue. I stopped drinking coffee and soda for 2 days, and it went away. I just had the headache to deal with. Water and lots of aspirin took care of that for me.

I have a cold and my eye lid keeps twitching. What is going on with me?

This eyetwitch thing happens to me when i am tired. I suggest you get alot of rest cause you are sick too! your body is really trying to tell you something. REST!! cold and flu medication is good if you can take it, i dont like it, it can dehydrate you and can keep you awake but it may help too. Drink lots of fluids to flush out your system. go and see you GP, he might tell you to stay at home for afew days and keep you germs to yourself :)

If your right eye is twitching, is it good luck or bad luck?

Depends on the situation. If you are sitting somewhere in a public place and there is an attractive (to you) person opposite, and your right eye begins to twitch, then it’s quite possible that person may see you eye “wink” and take it as a slightly naughty sign that you would like to strike up a conversation. If they take you up on it, then you may just have found your future soul-mate! And that would be incredibly lucky for you both!On the other hand, if you get a bad right eye twitch whilst riding a bicycle through London’s rush hour traffic, you are quite likely to not be able to see that a taxi In front of you starting a “U” turn across your path. In which case you will probably end up dead! And that would not be the luckiest thing that ever happened to you!So an eye-twitch, can either be “good” or “bad” luck. It just depends on whether there is a happenstrance that blends to your random eye twitch!

Why is my eye lid twitching?!!!?!?!?

Hi Bella...I just got over that and it about drove me insane. My doctor told me that it was either from stress or lack of sleep, but that it truly is not a serious conditions, just annoying. He suggested that when the spasm occurs to lightly massage the eyelid to relax it. I followed his suggestion, and the twitching slowly stopped...I was very relieved. Hope you feel better soon.

Why does my eye keep twitching?

your mom is right! this is almost always "myokymia" or benign eyelid tremor. most often brought on by not enough sleep, too much stress or too much caffeine (or some combo of those!)

get more sleep, less stress & less caffeine. this is not dangerous, just annoying. i myself had this for 3 months one time when I was going thru a very stressful personal time in my life...

How do I stop eye lid twitching?

There are several causes of eyelid twitching, of which the most common is what we call 'myokymia'.This is very localised to a small area of the eyelid, and often gets better on its own. It is harmless, and may be caused by things like excessive eye strain, not enough sleep, excessive caffeine, or other non specific eye irritation. Rarely, high levels of thyroid hormones may also be a factor. In general, you should look for any of these contributing factors and address them to stop the twitching. There are other types of eyelid twitching-which are fortunately less common. Occasionally some of the facial muscles twitch together with the eyelid muscles on one side. This is called hemifacial spasm, and is due to irritation of the facial nerve. In order to differentiate the different types of twitching, an examination by a doctor would be necessary.Whatever the cause of the eyelid twitching, if it is very persistent (over a few weeks) and you have already addressed all possible causative factors, Botox injections are an option. They weaken the twitching muscles for a period of 3-4 months. Any recurrence could be treated with repeat injections, and oftentimes after a number of injections the muscles are weakened and the twitching naturally becomes much less of a problem.Disclaimer: This answer is not a substitute for professional medical advice.
