Is Diversity Wonderful In Britain Considering More

Why is diversity important??

Honey, I think first of all you need to define diversity....
Does this mean to you any slight divergant from the mainstream????
Look at everything you love, your music, your art, your philosophical view points and ask yourself if anyone ever thought that those views were diverse?
Anything that does not conform to the mainstream is theoretically diverse or diviant, keep that in mind.
Are you religious?
If so has your particular religious view point always been a readily accepted one? If not, then it was - at some point- diverse.
What about your political views - do you believe women should get the vote?
Up till 100 years ago that view was very diverse.
By challenging society we create change.
If our ancestors had decided to subscribe themselves to an absolute future of hunting and gathering then there would be no internet communication, keep that in mind.
What may seem diverse and extreme now could be the milestone of the future.
I know you will find your own way through this xoxoxo

Do you consider Greece (arguably) the most beautiful country/place on earth?

You haven't travelled much, have you?
No it is not. I am Greek but I am also OBJECTIVE.

P.S. My point is that some people who have never been outside their country (whether it is Greece or Chad or Australia) they will be biased in favor of their country and they will think it's the "best" since they haven't seen others. Of course there are also people who have never travelled but they still have objective views of their country just as there are others who may have travelled extensively and still can't be objective. They prefer being biased. They can't see what is in front of their eyes. They refuse to. I have friends like that. They've been to the Amazon and they still think that the northern suburbs of Athens are "very" green.... Yes they are greener compared to the center of Athens, but they are nothing compared to the suburbs of many eastern coast American cities for example!

Usually when people travel and their horizons are broadened, their narrow-minded perceptions of their native country change and they stop seeing it as the "best". They may still appreciate its beauty and find it interesting and worth visiting but they also see its downsides and its problems/defects. They stop idealizing in other words and they become more down-to-earth.

BTW I have been to: USA (with Hawaii), Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, England (Scotland included), Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Sweden, Norway, Faroe Islands, Serbia, FYROM, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Switzerland, Austria, Malta, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Kenya, Tanzania, Turkey, Jordan, Iran, India, Nepal, China (with Tibet included).

I think the total, if I am not forgetting any, comes up to 43 countries! And yes Greece is a beautiful and diverse country but I would be unfair to many others if I called it the "best". Variety is not the only necessary ingredient to make a country the "best". If you take overall "quality of life" into consideration for example or countries with cities without smog/air pollution and traffic jams, then I guess Greece would NOT be that high on the list.

If you are talking solely about NATURAL beauty, again, yes Greece has a lot of it, but so do Switzerland, Norway, the USA, Peru, Brazil...

Why dont americans listen when you say america is not the most diverse?

Well the two reasons I could think of that we wouldnt listen when someone says that America isn't the most diverse, is because we are convinced that we are and don't know how diverse other countries are, so basically ignorance, and maybe you haven't backed the claim up by evidence. And yes you are right that America has a mostly white population with about 66% non Hispanic whites and 73.1% including Hispanic whites, but first you must know that many white Americans are mixed, and can trace their ancestry back to various European countries, and even Native American and some black ancestry ( due to many events in history ex: Manifest Destiny, slavery, immigration. Also, the U.S. Has a growing Hispanic population with about 18% Hispanics due to a lot of immigration that keeps rising. And Black Americans, followed by Asian Americans are also growing minorities in the U.S. And I think the U.S. is actually very diverse in comparison to many other countries and only continues to become more diverse each day, so I dont blame people for disagreeing when you say America isn't the mostly diverse, but Brazil is also very diverse because of a lot of ra ce-mixing and many people aren't aware of that. And to who ever that said. china is diverse I hope u were kidding and Canada isn't quite as diverse as the U. S. but it is also very diverse. And to the person who asked this question, may I ask you, What country are you from, and what do you feel is the most diverse country?

Should migrants assimilate to the culture around them or maintain their cultural identity?

I'm trying to get some opinion and perspective on this for an essay. I think that it's important for the migrants to integrate their own culture into the culture around them, because (in my opinion) I think multicultural, diverse societies are wonderful. However, how do you maintain a cultural identity while trying to integrate your culture into a whole new one? Should the culture "dissolve" into the culture around it, or is there a way for the it to become a part of the new culture without compromising its "identity"? Any opinions on this would be nice, I'm just trying to take everything into account and consider the pros and cons. Also, I know opinions like this can be very idealistic, how do they compare the reality of real-world situations where this happens? Where are some places where this does happen currently? I live in Texas, and I know this may not be the best example, but I think if it wasn't for acculturation we wouldn't have the wonderful Tex-Mex food you find around here. What are some other examples of this, maybe more large-scale and prominent? I've been thinking things like the French Quarter in New Orleans, and Chinatown here in the US, but if you know of anything else I'd really appreciate you sharing that.
I know this is really long, thanks for your help in advance!
