Is Dividend On A Bhp Also Included In This Year

Interim Dividend Calculation?

I have a 163 shares of a company. They have declared an interim dividend of 136%. Which they say comes to around 2.72 per equity share of rs 2 each. However the share value is 296 rs per share. How much dividend will i get? is it 163*2.72?

Do coal stocks offer a high dividend yield?

Negative ghostrider, I don’t think they do. Most of the current high dividend yield stocks are financial services firms and REITs, from what I can tell (see here: Dividend Stocks: Highest Dividend Stocks by Yield).Regarding coal stocks, here are two of the top producers and their yields (source is Yahoo! Finance):Rio Tinto (ticker: RIO) - 4.15%BHP Billiton (ticker: BHP) - 3.08%Not bad, but you can find other blue chip stocks that provide a similar yield:AT&T (ticker: T) - 5.02%Exxon Mobil (ticker: XOM) - 3.71%Coal is a dying energy source. Even China, one of the world’s most notorious pollution producers for the sake of economic gain, is moving toward sustainable and clean energy sources. If you’re looking to build a dividend portfolio, I would say look elsewhere. Staples (ticker: SPLS), the office supply store, has a higher a dividend yield at 5.19% and might even be less risky than a coal stock, given that their main asset isn’t tied to a global commodity price.

What is the difference in BHP and BBL if any?

They are both ADRs for Broken Hill Petroleum (BHP). The difference in price may reflect a discount/premium that people are placing on which country the ADR is from. I believe that BBL is the UK version, BHP (is the Aussie version).
Last I checked they paid the same size (dollar value) dividend, therefore, whichever has a lower share price is paying a larger dividend yield.
I believe that the US will lose more ground to the Aussie Dollar than the British Pound in the next few years, so you may favor the BHP.
Hope that helped.

What is the difference in BHP and BBL? (Billiton)?

What is the difference between Rio Tinto PLC and Rio Tinto Ltd?

Rio Tinto LTD is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, while Rio Tinto PLC is listed in the London Stock Exchange. These are two different legal entities under the Rio Tinto umbrella. The shares are not swappable, each belongs and represents an independent legal entity listed in different markets. Can you trade them across markets? Yes you can.

I am 19 and I have ten thousand dollars?

personally, I would go to college or university... I would take out a small student loan to pay for the tuition and books and then budget the money you have saved and use it to pay rent (either an apartment or stay in dorms on campus), buy food, etc.
I think your education is the best investment you can make.. once you have a degree you can get a career that pays well and you can start paying back your student loan and then once that's all paid off you can start saving again and you'll have another $10,000 in no time. Then you can worry about stocks or real estate!

Good luck, and congratulations on being able to save up that much money at your age!

What advice could you give a 21 year old college grad about the stock market?

Well first of all its good that your asking questions from more experienced traders as the saying goes “if you want to become successful you must study other successful people”. Acquire knowledge you can never know enough about the stock market, decide just how much money your determined to risk, as a rule of thumb your best off only risking about 33 % of your cash the reason being is if you lose most of it or all of it you’ve still got 66.99% left to survive off. There’ s nothing worse then losing it all and having to live out of a shoe box in the street. Then determine what to invest in with that 33 % best option is to diversify your investment so i’d go about 11 % in each stock in a different industry i’d try 11 % in Gold Mining stocks like Newmont, Rio Tinto, Bhp Billiton, Barrick Gold, Anglo Gold, just a side note Rio and BHP are diversified resources, i’d invest about 11 % in the big phama’s like JNJ, Eli Lilly, Pfizer, Merch and Co, and the other 11 % in large industrials like Mc Donalds, PepsiCo, Home Depot, Phillip Morris. Du Point.

What should a Mechanical Engineering student have in his/her resume to get an internship in Rio Tinto?

Add any upper divisional coursework you have under your belt. Include all software skills. Be sure you have some community involvement on there too. If you have any leadership experience (even on a school project team), add it. If you haven't already joined a professional organization (like ASME), join! Having that on your resume helps. Good luck!

How can I learn about investing in mining companies?

There's a lot available about large, publicly traded mining companies.  One of the world's largest mining companies is BHP Billiton Limited (ADR) (NYSE:BHP), officially an Australian company but really international.  You can look it up by stock symbol, BHP, on Google Finance, the clicking "Related companies" (on the left, under "Company").  The main page for each company you click on includes a stock history chard that includes both price and dividends. Also look up the same company on Yahoo!Finance.  On the left, under Company, you'll see Profile, that tells about the company, including the company's web site. To find other mining companies, click Competitors and click Industry.  Clicking on each of their names or symbols gets you to their pages and similar information.  Also on the left of the page, clicking on Basic Chart will let you look at each stock's price and volume history.  Also on the left, clicking "Historical Prices" lets you see and download price history, including dividends.  A note about the stock price charts.  I think both Google and Yahoo Finance default to adjusted prices.  This means historical prices are actually reduced by the effects of dividends and stock splits, to show the equivalent historical price of a current share.  Yahoo's Historical Prices show actual prices, dividends and adjusted closing prices. If you want much smaller companies, I'd begin with a Google or Bing search on "Penny Gold Stocks."
