Is Drinking Gatorade Good If You Sweat A Lot

Is it bad to drink Gatorade when you're not losing sweat or working out?

First of all, who is it that says you're getting too much sodium? If it's a legitimate medical professional, I'd suggest listening. But if you're a healthy person without such chronic conditions like high blood pressure, you may be okay drinking Gatorade in moderation.

So how the heck much is "moderate"? A pint, or half a litre, a day is probably not too much. However - Gatorade was invented specifically as a drink meant to replenish the electrolytes lost during intense physical activity such as spending a hot afternoon playing right tackle in a college football game.

You lose electrolytes in sweat - any amount of sweat. Usually this is not a problem, but the intense level of competition in even high school athletics nowadays can lead to serious loss of water and electrolytes. It can get bad enough to kill ya before anyone realized you're in serious trouble. Gatorade was invented specifically to reduce the chances of that happening by replacing not just water, but electrolytes. Which means it has added sodium, potassium and chloride as well as a few other chemicals. IF you were completely healthy and IF you drank like three quarts or litres a day of Gatorade, you just might put yourself into a situation where you have too much of a good thing - and a high level of sodium and the other electrolytes is as much a problem as not having enough!

Suggestion: lots of good-tasting drinks out there. Why don't ya alternate between, say, Gatorade, sugar-free lemonade, sugar-free iced tea, including on occasion some of those nicely-flavored iced tea drinks? And good old hydrogen dioxide, aka water, is also a good thing to add to your drink repertoire. Good luck and have fun!

Is propel gatorade good to drink when trying to lose weight?

All those ‘sports drinks’ have one problem in common- advertisers show them as essential. When we are talking about Gatorade or any other drink containing electrolytes, we need to understand that they have a specific purpose. What kind of purpose? The main thing that Gatorade do is refilling your body with electrolytes (microelements) and water that you lose when you sweat a lot. That happens when you do a lot of cardio, especially. End of story. Those drinks often tend to have some carbs as well. But they don’t help you to lose weight by any means. In fact, if you don’t train enough (run marathons) and drink them, you could theoretically put on weight- that stuff contain calories (unless it's a calorie-free version).I can see why would you consider it a supplement to help you with losing weight. Advertisements of those products show people in great shape and fantastic physiques. Unfortunately, sports drinks have nothing to do with it.The only time you could consider drinking that is if you would be training long-distance running. And even then there are cheaper alternatives to Gatorade, Powerade, Propel etc. Adding salt to the water gives it similar properties because sodium is what you are losing the most when sweating. For the majority of us who are not athletes and professionals, it is enough to eat properly and drink water. That’s all you need.In order to lose weight, you need the caloric deficit and exercising. All the other stuff is of secondary importance. Thanks for your question. Should you drink water with Gatorade?

A healthy person can - within limits - regulate the amount of water and electrolytes in the body depending on the amount lost and the amount eaten/drunk.If you only drank sugar water and kept excercising initially the body would sense low levels of electrolytes and start to conserve them but eventually the body would not be able to conserve enough electrolytes like sodium and potassium. A drink with electrolytes in the proper amounts would extend the ability of the body to compensate for losses. So at least for a time yes gatorade alone can hydrate a person undergoing excecise, it can sustain Eventualy though the body would run out of things not in the gatorade. Some other electrolyte or maybe even proteins. Thats usualy why you need to eat

It will help his cramps if he gets them because he is dehydrated. Gatorade was developed to help replace the electrolytes that athletes lose when they sweat so much that they become dehydrated. It replaces the liquids and salts you lose in sweat. It's healthier than soda pop by a long shot because it's got a lot less sugar, I'm pretty sure. It may not be good if he has a blood pressure problem because it's probably got a lot of sodium in it.

My cousin actually was the inventor of Gatorade the original sports drink. He did that as he was a research professor MD at University of Florida,Gainsville .Its fine to drink any sports drink at any time for any reason. Why?The number 1 ingredient is water. He told me “ If you never want to be sick a day in your life just drink a gallon of water every day at least. They have now said 1/2 oz per pound of body weight of water in the medical field, but he was absolutely correct.
