Is Fall Semester Is Easy To Get Admitted In A University

Could I get admitted to the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC)?

GPA: 2.74 (maybe 2.8 when I take summer school classe)
ACT: 29
Clubs: Volunteered at a Hospital and joined couple of clubs at school.
Classes: 4 AP/2 honors including senior year
I don't know if I should apply early in fall or late after first semester ends. The reason being to applying late is that I can get my GPA to about 3.02. Can I get in with my standards now or should I apply late?

I have an admission in Stony Brook University in fall, but now I changed my mind to start the spring semester?

It looks like it might be too late. Sorry :(

"Stony Brook permits admitted freshmen to defer enrollment for a maximum of two semesters. Requests for deferred enrollment must be put in writing and sent to the dean of admissions by May 15 for students accepted for the fall semester and November 15 for those accepted for the spring semester. The request for deferred enrollment must include a justification for the deferment and the length of time for which the deferment is being requested. A deferment is not honored if the student attends another institution."

Of course, it couldn't hurt to call and ask someone in the admissions office if they can make an exception.

Is it easier to get accepted into a university during the summer terms?

Summer admissions will not be on a degree plan. This is as summer sessions are treated differently to which a separate registration office runs the operation on a non-subsidized basis (no taxpayer money or endowed funds). Hence, they admit as many students as feasibly possible to increase enrollment. As long as you meet the general requirement, which is usually just a high school diploma, then you're "in". But like I said, there is no degree plan so you need to apply separately for the regular academic calendar (fall/spring) to actually earn a degree there.

Which intake in Canadian universities is better, Spring or Fall?

Thanks for the A2AFall is by far the best time of the year for your intake, followed by winter and then Spring. The reasons being -Intake - The intake for most courses in almost every university if highest in Fall. More courses are also on offer for fall. This is the admission session most preferred by all students. Winter has a decent number of courses on offer and usually spring almost has no useful courses. Most people take a break during the 4 months of spring/summer.Financial aid - The amount of funding kept aside for scholarships and financial aid is much higher in Fall. This is when the budget is fresh and more money is set aside as there are more people who come into the university. Winter might have a little more funding while spring hardly manages to make a scratch.Competition of classmates - By the time you arrive in class for winter, or worse yet, for spring, you are already 4 months and 8 months behind the Fall intake students already. They will be better conditioned to the style of study and perhaps even some concepts that you encounter.Weather - In this aspect the Spring is better of course :) I personally like the fall season more because it is cool. Starting school in winter is torture.Jobs - Starting in Winter or Spring will put pressure on you to finish 1 and 2 terms sooner because an average Fall student will finish before December and a lot of the major companies do the bulk of their hiring before early spring. So unless you race ahead, you will only have the leftovers when you graduate

Is it better to apply to graduate schools for the spring or fall semester?

The main problem is that the academic year runs from Sept to July. When you join in the spring semester, you are joining half-way into the year. This problem manifests itself in a number of ways:Internships: You cannot apply for internships unless you have been at school for 9 months. This means that you miss out on summer internships. Funding: Research funding at many places is year long. You are hired for the academic year from Fall onwards. Most of the funding positions might have been satisfied by students admitted in Fall. This does not hold for semester-to-semester position like teaching assistants, but even for those positions, fall students are in a much better position to have already talked to professors and expressed interest.Housing: Most housing leases run from Sept-Aug. Arriving in Spring means you will have to find a sublet. Exceptions occur (housing which leases on a monthly basis), but these are rare and expensive.Similar concerns exist with Welcome weekends, orientation, speak tests and so on. And as Anjishnu Kumar says, some schools don't have Spring admissions at all. If you can afford to wait for six months for the Fall admission cycle, I would highly recommend that you take that instead.

Can I get into George Mason University?

Hi,

I need help, I went to George Mason from SPRING of 2007 to FALL 2009 and left with a 2.79 GPA. I transferred to Arizona State University for this current semester SPRING 2010. I am trying to transfer back to George Mason next semester FALL 2010. My question would be, will it be fairly easy to get back in since I went there for almost 2.5 years, and even though I have a 2.79 GPA??

I am an international student with a full ride scholarship and I would be paying as an out of state student. Would that help?
I have 2 recommendation letters from 2 ASU professors and one from a GMU professor, Would that also help?? I really need help.

Thank you

If you applied for the fall semester, what does it mean if you got accepted for the summer semester instead?

Let me just tell you first off that it is absolutely not a bad thing at all that you got accepted for summer. University of Texas at Austin is an incredibly competitive school and the fact that they even offered you admission at all is really impressive. With this being said, I had friends get accepted for the summer term only and they absolutely loved it. They said some of the advantages are you get a little head start on all your classes so you can take fewer hours in the fall and spring. Another advantage is that you get to know the campus and the city life before any other freshmen get there. This will give you a chance to meet more upperclassmen (because they usually all stay here during the summer). You also can focus on your classes more because there will be fewer people/activities to distract you. My friend commented how it was actually easier to make friends during the summer since everyone is more close-knit since there aren't a whole lot of people who get offered summer admission.
All in all, I would definitely accept the summer admission. You still get a summer vacation, although it may not be as long as you had originally planned. So, why not? UT is one of the best public schools in the nation and so many opportunities arise from being a student there. The benefits will definitely outweigh losing a few weeks of one summer. Good luck and I hope it all works out for you.

Is it easier to get a good university during spring in US for MS?

Well it totally depends on your score, projects and work experience.. Until and unless you are eligible to apply for universities Spring semester or Fall semester does not matter much.. However students due to certain reasons prefer Fall semester over Spring.. Also every semester universities have different number of intakes.. In spring usually the intake will be less.. As long as the university offers the course you are looking for in Spring and you have good score to apply for admission getting into a good university is possible..
