In US, your GPA for High School is based on Four years - 9–12 grade. At the time of apply for college one will not have 12 grade GPA.Like other are mentioned, below is high level GPA for various levels of coursesRegular - A’s - 4.0 (Max)Honors - A’s - 4.5 (Max) so a B+ will still be 4.0AP (Advanced Placement) usually referred as college level courses - A’s - 5.0; so a B’s get you 4.0Competitive high school (offer more APs) and students in those school take about 15+ APs during the 4 years. This help them to get a GPA above 4.0.Colleges something normalized it to 4.0, which may make it look like they did not get 4.0. But in reality they are more valued than student who take regular classes and get 4.0

What ages go with each grade in America?

Well we begin school in August and finish in May. These are the ages they are.Kindergarten you have to be over 5 years old that means your usually 6 by the end of the grade. Thoe it varies depending on your birthday for example if your born in September you would turn 6 during the beginning of the year.1st grade age 6 at the end you are 72nd grade 7 at the end you are 83rd grade age 8 at the end you are 94th grade age 9 at the end you are 105th grade age 10 at the end you are 116th grade age 11 at the end you are 12. Also at the age 12 they graduate and move on to middle school7th grade age 12 at the end you are 13/ a teenager now8th grade age 13 at the end you are 14.At the age of 14 you graduate and move on to high school. However some have junior high school and have 9th grade in there. Thoe junior high is rare now. The difference is middle school has 7–8th while junior high has 7–9th.For junior high kids they don't graduate until age 15.High schooler are usually refer toFreshmen/9th Freshmen are 14 at the end they are 15Sophomore/10th Sophomore are 15 at the end they are 16Junior/11th junior are 16 at the end they are 17Senior/12th senior are 17 at the end they are 18/legal adult. At the age 18 they graduate high school.College also has a 4 year system as wellFreshmen age 18 at the end they are 19Sophomore age 19 at the end they are 20/officially no longer a teenager.Junior age 20 at the end they are 21/ they can now do the fun stuff like guns smoke drink or whatever but I don't recommend you do because it bad for your health and leads to cancer. Also guns are dangerous so I don't recommend you get one.Senior age 21 at the end they are 22. At the age of 22 they graduate college. And that it. So really education is age 5–22. That about 17 years of education.

Is GPA for grades 9-12 or grades 10-12?

My city has middle school grades 6-9 and high school grades 10-12. Would this mean that GPA is only recorded for 10-12 and not freshmen year? I just finished 9th grade (middle school) and looked on the high school page. it says cumulative GPA 10-12 only. Does this mean they do count 9th grade but then again this is the high school page that does not include 9th grade. By not counting 9th grade does that mean colleges cannot see my 9th grade grades?

Which GPA do colleges look at, academic GPA, total GPA, or 10-12 GPA?

It really depends on the college. Most colleges will recalculate your GPA anyway.State schools usually look at the GPA that is on your transcript and see if you meet their benchmark - their process is not holistic. The UC System has a completely different calculation: their “official” GPA calculation is from the summer before your sophomore year to the summer after your junior year. However, UC schools will look at your courses all throughout high school, their rigor, and the grades you got in them. It’s just that their official GPA calculation is from grades 10–11.Prestigious private universities, such as the Ivy League, will look at both weighted and unweighted GPA across all four years of high school, along with recalculating it (for example, many schools will disregard PE classes in calculating the GPA).

How do colleges look at GPA? (Cumulative or grades 10-12)?

In freshman year I slacked off and didn't care about my grades, resulting in 3 B's. Now I am ending sophomore year with a 4.0 (weighted) with 2 honors and an AP class, and I am picking myself off to a good start. However, I'm starting to look into universities in California and I've been told that freshman year "isn't important" last year but was just told that colleges DO keep freshman grades in mind since they look into the cumulative GPA. But do those grades count heavily into your chances of going to a university? Or count at all? Someone please clarify!

What GPA does UC Riverside look at?

1. overall gpa high school, and rank in graduating class
2. SAT score
3. recommendations and extra-curricular activities, interest letter
4. interview performance
the UC system still works in mysterious ways, and they still admit a lot of questionable applicants for questionable reasons, and they are able to do this with a minimum of scrutiny. Good luck, and UCR is an excellent, except of course for the fact that it is located in Riverside....
