Is Iphone 4s With Bad Esn Worth Buying

What does it mean if an iPhone has a bad ESN and can I buy it?

My iPhone 5s was stolen and Verizon as usual is not taking any pity from anyone nor would they offer me a replacement at a discount so if I want the replacement I would have to buy it at full price. I looked online on ebay and saw some iPhone 5s that were really cheap selling but when I look it says bad ESN. I read somewhere that you cannot activate this with your provider is that is the case. Is this true and what exactly is bad ESN on an iPhone?

Iphone 4s bad esn, HELP PLEASE!?

so today i purchased an iphone on Craigslist, i had called and had the esn checked first time they said it was ok, then when i actually got it from the guy i checked the esn, it was the same one as before BUT when i called sprint they said the phone had a bad ESN. I screwed up big time, tried calling the seller no response from him. I would like to know though that if an iphone 4s from sprint can be unlocked/flashed and if it can work in H20? is this possible?

Why do iPhones have a "bad ESN"? What does it mean, and will it affect functioning on other networks if I buy an iPhone with "bad ESN on AT&T"?

Generally it means the phone was reported stolen to AT&T and they blacklisted it from connecting to their network. This can be someone stealing the phone or the primary user ceasing to pay off or return the phone if on a payment plan.It may be possible to use the phone on another GSM provider, but generally it is wise to steer clear of such a phone - it may cause you trouble down the line.

Will the Apple Store replace a iPhone 5c with a bad ESN?

I bought this phone but is still active on a Sprint account. It is still under the 1year manufacturer warranty and has never been opened or tampered with. The only resolution I have seen is a "swap" service on eBay. Are they just going to an Apple Store and swapping these phones? If not how are they swapping the bad ESN phone for a brand new phone?

What does 1x mean on a Sprint iPhone 4S?

1x is short for CDMA2000 1xRTT, which only supports dialup speeds.

When your phone shows the generic term 3G it is using EV-DO which supports low end broadband speeds, hence why 1x is so much slower.

The current technology is LTE, usually dumbed down to the term 4G. I get about 20Mbps down and 10Mbps up over my LTE connection, which blows my 12Mbps down 768Kbps up DSL connection out of the water.

Can you still use apps/itunes/wifi with a bad ESN or locked iphone 4?

I've been using a regular pay-as-you-go gophone for mostly texting and keep an ipod touch 3G with me for planning/WIFI/apps/music. I've been wanting to replaced my ipod so that I could have a camera that is better quality than my gophone and could take video and saw that there were some cheap iphone 4s for sale but they were either 'locked' or had a 'bad ESN'.

I have NO intention of using the iphone for calling/texting/etc. I just want to use it to replace my ipod touch so I have a better camera while still having access to the app store/wifi surfing/itunes music, etc, but does a locked or bad ESN iphone 4 allow this kind of thing?
