Is this a cyst or could it be cancerous?

Years ago, there would be times when a large lump would form next to my spine (it was the color of a bruise) then would go away in a couple weeks. Today, a large lump is next to my spine. Is this a cyst? If it was cancerous, it wouldn't go away and come back right?

Can a cyst turn into cancer, with time?

It's pretty common for women to have benign cysts in the breast, and often a physician can determine whether it is a non-life-threatening growth by palpation (feeling it) or by ultrasound or other imaging, or by biopsy. Women who regularly drink coffee or other caffeinated beverages often develop fibrous cysts in the breasts. If you are very concerned, you can get a second opinion or ask for further testing.

Fibrous cysts don't turn into cancer - but there is a risk that a cancerous tumor could be misdiagnosed as a cyst.

How to tell difference between tumor and cyst?

Tumors and cysts are abnormal growths that have the potential to interfere with normal function of the body.

A cyst is an air- or fluid-filled sac. It can form in any part of the body, including in bones, organs and soft tissues. The vast majority of cysts are noncancerous (benign). But it is important to note that nearly all cancers can produce cysts.

The term "tumor" refers to a swelling in the body. To many, the term is synonymous with cancer. But any type of swelling — even a large bruise (hematoma) — is technically a tumor. Tumors can be cancerous or noncancerous.

The only way to be absolutely sure if a cyst or tumor is cancerous is to remove some of the affected tissue (biopsy) for examination under a microscope.

Can an epididymal cyst turn into cancer?

It is worth noting that the symptoms may not necessarily be caused by cancer. In fact, less than 4 percent of lump sum in the testicles are found to be cancerous. Individuals should not ignore a lump or swelling in the testicle, though. It is important to see a doctor. They can then determine the cause.Even though testicular cancer can spread to the lymph nodes, it hardly ever travels to other organs. If the cancer does spread, a person may experience:

How do you tell the difference between a cyst and a tumor in an ultrasound of the breast?

Actually, any lump is technically a tumour.......it's whether it's malignant or benign that is the issue. A cyst is round and encapsulated and usually filled with pus or fluid and they are benign. They don't usually grow very quickly. A malignant tumour isn't encapsulated but a mass and it it grows and spreads quickly.
If the tissue is too dense to determine, if there was any real concern they would do a biopsy.

Differentiation between tumor and cyst on CT scan?

Tumors and cysts have different radiographic densities. Therefore, they present themselves in different shades of gray. CT scanners have a tool that can measure the radiographic density of a particular area. I forget the name of the scale they compare those measurements to, but they use this tool to measure suspicious areas and can usually tell with near certainty whether something is cystic or not. Remember, cysts are fluid filled sacs, tumors are flesh and blood.

Difference between a cyst lump, and cancer lump?

What is the difference in feel of a cancer lump, and a fibroid?

I have had the same lump in my breast for about a year, and my doctor says it's fibroid cyst. She did not run a biopsy, but did to a mammogram. The lump has not gotten bigger throughout the year.

I did notice another lump in the same breast about 2 weeks ago.

I'm a bit worried, as my breast has has had a dull pain in it for the past month. I have been drinking a lot of caffeine though.
