Should I take my bird to the vet?
Ok, I have 3 birds, all in separate cages because two fight and one is a different type of bird. I have two Budgies or Parakeets, a male and female. The female is really old and last year she got a shot (actually two) to treat her scaly mites. Since then she has been fine except for her anal/belly area is bare, although it doesn't seem to bother her. The other budgie is a male and he is about 2 or 3 years old. He has never been to the vet and has been in perfect health except Sky (the female) bit his wing and made it bleed a tiny bit right before I separated them. He was the one starting the fights btw. I think he wanted to mate but she was WAY too old for babies. Her cere has recently gone back to pink instead of brown. My other bird (who's breed I am not going to mention because everyone will shun me)I have raised since she was about 9 days old. She is now around 7 or 8 months old (I'd have to check my calendar) and says Hi baby, Pretty Bird, and Come 'Ere. Lately she hasn't been talking and not chirping as often as she used to. She has also been sleeping a lot and sitting in the corner fluffed up and shivering. She also just seems overall depressed. I know birds are exceptionally good at hiding diseases, so could it be a sign of something serious? I took her out yesterday (I can't take my other birds out- they aren't tame) and she just sat on my arm and even sat down so that we couldn't see her feet and fell asleep while I played Chinese Checkers with my dad. She only reached for the marbles twice, which is very unlike her. When she sat on my dad's arm she didn't even glance at his shiny watch. She just seems to be out of it. Just an fyi, the way I'm describing it sounds a lot worse than it actually is lol.
