Is It A Good Thing If Someone Calls You A Liberal On Facebook What Is A Liberal

How/why is Facebook so incredibly liberal/left-wing?

I doubt why is the right question. The right question is: How come you SEE majorly left wing/liberal content? The answer is a two-parter.You can not assume Facebook is left wing/liberal from looking only at your newsfeedNews Feed - Wikipedia . Your newsfeed is tailored to your individual “tastes”, to keep you as long as possible onsite / in app.A factor that amplifies your perception (FB ~liberal) is the term Echo chamber (media) - Wikipedia:Participants in online communities may find their own opinions constantly echoed back to them.EDIT: Can I ask you, why you assume it is liberal (or rightwing) to say: “Not all Muslims…”

Do Facebook's algorithms promote content with liberal biases over content with conservative biases?

It does not intentionally do so. As another answer has mentioned, liberal/conservative content makes no sense as a criteria for Facebook's algorithm by itself. However, based on your history of likes, Facebook's algorithms may preferentially show you content similar to those you have shown interest in previously. If you click on or share many articles from a person with a liberal slant, Facebook will tend to show you more from him/her.Also, most liberals will read or otherwise interact with articles from spectrum of sources. Hence, if you are a liberal reading one of those sources, Facebook may suggest these other sources to you because they were well-received by "People similar to you". See, for instance: http://www.wired.com/2014/08/i-l...The whole algorithm is just a feedback loop where the system keeps feeding you more of the stuff you liked. tl;dr: Facebook doesnt intentionally filter articles by liberal/conservative slant. But if you have been liking/sharing one side more, Facebook will tend to give you more of it.

Difference between liberal and very liberal on facebook?

Depends on how strong your views are. You could be just liberal which mean you have liberal views for the most part. Or if you are very liberal you have your views and you are frim with them and they are just stronger.

Why are millennials so liberal?

I m a 21 year old male who is more conservative and I live in the south so most my age are conservative but it seems like your average millennial in this country is very left wing or liberal and I really don t know why. Whenever I look on trending on Facebook it s a headline that has liberal bias because most people commenting on posts are young and they are liberal. Most young people I know support or supported Bernie sanders and will probably vote for Hillary Clinton and it s really sad to me but I really don t understand why they are like this.

If Facebook had founders with liberal arts backgrounds, would it have avoided the problems it is currently having?

Having a liberal arts background doesn’t address the problem. How much liberal arts background is enough? Mark Zuckerberg went to Philips Exeter Academy for high school, and I would say, knowing a few graduates, that he probably has at least as much liberal arts education as most Americans who completed bachelor’s degrees in the liberal arts.Having a liberal arts background is unnecessary to at least attempt avoiding the current issues: plenty of engineers would have changed the nature of Facebook long before it reached its current situation. They trust social media a heck lot less than the rest of the world does: Californians trust tech industry but not social media: survey.I believe the issue is that Facebook appears to still be in the same or similar growth strategy it had when small, and that’s not the best for preserving value. They haven’t spent enough money and resources on security (preservation) relative to new features (growth) to avoid situations like the Cambridge Analytica scandal and other issues that have resulted in a ~15% stock price drop during the past two weeks. It’s a question of resource allocation and priorities, and a liberal arts education isn’t necessarily associated with a particular alignment.
