Can I wear a ski mask in public?
I live in Los Angeles, and I go to art school. I have to do a film project for a show coming up, and in one of the scenes I need to walk around Venice Beach wearing a ski mask. I'm hoping not to cause a bunch of trouble, and I'm not going to look threatening in any other way..I'll just be a tiny un-armed girl wearing a ski mask Some states consider it a misdemeanor to wear one in public and I was wondering inf anyone knows if California considers it illegal? I don't want to get a ticket or arrested.

I'm American, so I your British laws are of no interests on this question. Breach of the peace seems possible, but I am fearful of some goth looking dude wearing 900 spikes across his body, where's his ticket?

Check your local laws. Some states and jurisdictions have laws restricting the wearing of masks in public. Others don't. The penalties for violation of mask laws also varies. Some examples: 1) It is a Class 6 felony to wear a mask in public in Virginia except in very limited circumstances, and protection from the elements is not included in that. 2) In West Virginia, violation of their mask law is only a misdemeanor, and protection from the elements is specifically permitted. 3) In Maryland, there is no mask law, therefore it is legal.

It's legal. In fact, constitutionally it would likely fall under your First Amendment rights to Freedom of Speech. More specifically, Symbolic speech. In 1968, The Supreme Court case of Cohen v. California decided in favor of Cohen's right to wear a jacket that said "**** the Draft" after being arrested for wearing it, because wearing the jacket constituted Symbolic speech. So, as long as you are not harming others, and or don't plan to commit a crime while wearing the ski mask, I don't see why you couldn't from a purely legal standpoint.

Also, depending on its purpose (medical?) you probably aren’t going to be able to wear it to the airport or any other place where there could be terrorist attacks (think stadiums, concerts, government buildings, large outdoor events, etc.) or even smaller places like schools and your job. Plus, I’m fairly sure any private business owner (like a restaurant) or location owner would have every right to at least question the need for the mask and possibly even require you to remove it if you want to enter.Other than ALL that, there is probably no law on the books where you live which specifically prohibits wearing a mask in public. it depends on it depends on the type of mask where you are while you're wearing it and many other things it depends on the type of mask where you are why you're wearing it and many other thing what people referred to as a thief mask where I live is called a ski mask because people needed to protect their face from the snow well skiing but if you were it into a bank you're going to be asked by the security guard that his arm to take it off before you get in the door all the way or if you go to one of the pharmacies that has armed security you also be ask will ask is a light word you will be told to remove it prior to coming into the pharmacy so it all depends on why you're wearing it where you're wearing it and even what day it is because if it's Halloween and you're eight they kind of expected but if you're boarding and it's a random Tuesday and it's not snowing white-out blizzard conditions that require you to wear such face protection then you're going to be asked to take it off if not told to take it off and in some states and jurisdictions it is illegal to wear.
Wearing a half ski mask in public. Illegal or okay?
Livin' in California, LA and I'm curious if it's against the law or anything of that sort to wear a half ski-mask in public or while walking since I tend to like wearing it as it protects me from the cold. I'd like to basically walk around in public with it on when it's too cold and simply pull it down onto my neck when I'm indoors. Sorry if this sounds redundant since I couldn't find any information regarding this.
